It's funny, growing up through the 60's and 70's, I didn't really appreciate the music as much then as I do now because I took it for granted it was always going to get better and lots of it; boy was I wrong.
There is so much more of it now though. I wouldn’t say it’s better, because you can’t get better than perfect, but there’s plenty that’s as good and equally perfect.
The very best of Southern Rock / Blues . It just hits you in the gut and doesn’t let go . Gregg’s vocals on this gives me chills every time . They were also top tier musicians.. Lawd have mercy on me !
T Bone Walker is credited with the song at the very beginning. It happened at the same as you observed that this is a live recording. Thank you for doing this.
T-bone Walker wrote it in 1947, but Bobby Blue Bland had a big hit with it in 1962. But yeah, lot's of blues artists covered this song over the years. Total classic.
Was lucky enough to get to see Bobby Blue Bland perform this back in ‘89. He was just incredible, and just smooth a butter.. whole show was like that, and the crowd was really digging him heavily. A solid, class act, straight through.
One of if not my favorite AAB tune. I was lucky enough to meet Gregg Allman early one morning. I was working as a night auditor and the band had checked into the hotel. He came strolling through the lobby 3 am. I called out Hey Gregg, how's it going. He stopped, looked over, cracked a huge grin and walked over to the front desk. He shook my hand, talked a bit. I asked him for his script, which he gave no problem. He wrote To Shawn Love and Boogie (heart over the i) Gregg Allman ABB. He was really laid back. We happened to have the same birthday except a 10 yr spread. Anyway, LOVE THIS TUNE. Pure blues....😎
This was an era where everything was authentic , the musicians and vocalists were truly masterful at their craft . No one was faking it . I can’t think of anything nowadays that gives me chills like this performance.
A&R studios “You don’t love me/Soul Serenade” probably the greatest Duane Allman playing of all time. It’s a homage to King Curtis’ passing. Duane talks about Stevie wonder and Aretha playing the song at his funeral and decides to work it in the set. It’s absolutely beautiful
I just went and listened to that. Thank you. Something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, that Duane's playing was captured on tape for us to enjoy decades later.
In my opinion, that album jams just as hard as Fillmore. They were just so unbelievable live. Even better than both is Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival.
Nobody plays the blues like the Allman Brothers. Since you guys really love the blues, please check out Alvin Lee's Bluest Blues which features George Harrison on slide guitar. It is a very overlooked song but you and your listeners will love it.
Great reactions to ABB "Stormy Monday" Live. Incredible cover by ABB. Another, same time period, version done by Lee Michaels, + Frosty, is worth a listen. These two musicians play it loud w feelings.
Clapton does a killer version of this song too! But Gregg and the Brothers has always been my Favorites! I miss going to see them every year in Charlotte or Raleigh NC... RIP Gregg Allman....
Albert King, BB King: Eric Clapton, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks with the Allman Brothers, Eric with the band Cream and Duane Betts Dickey's son all have great versions of "Stormy Monday". Just to name a few.
You have excellent taste in music , All outstanding & Iconic musicians ! You have probably heard Gary Moore & Albert King " Stormy Monday " Give it a spin
Check out Duane's work at Muscle Shoals as a studio musician on the collections Anthology 1 and 2. He played with the likes of Aretha, King Curtis, Wilson Pickett, and many others and was also the second lead guitar on Clapton's Derek and the Dominos' album "Layla". Listening to Duane and Clapton trading licks on the title track is pure magic.
This recording on that particular night is perfect! There is nothing that can be improved upon. I must have heard this 1000 times and it's absolutely flawless.
This song was written by T Bone Walker and has had several covers over the years. This happens to be my favorite version. I simply love Greg Allmans voice and this song brings out the best. What a voice.
You can't go wrong with any song off this album, "at Fillmore East". Keep in mind a few songs from this concert carried over to there next album, "Eat a Peach".
Man, seriously thank you guys for this genuine reaction. It really puts a smile on my face to see others embracing the Allman Brothers Band the way I do. You guys have GREAT taste in music!!
You guys have found and appreciate GREAT, GREAT MUSIC, I would like to see your reaction to THE MARSHAL TUCKER BAND, one of my favorites of theirs is called "CAN'T YOU SEE" it never disappoints! Have an awesome day
I told you guys about Stormy Monday. Dickey and Dwayne trading licks. And this is probably 71, Live and Auto-Tune hasn’t been invented yet. They were just that good ❤
I first saw them in Sarasota in 1969 at the City Auditorium. Had never heard of them, but yes I'll come in from longboat key to see what's up. I was 14 and walked around the back by the bay and saw drummer Butch Trucks warming up. I was stoked, came in to catch the roadie's doing the final tune up. The way the ROADIES were going up and down the neck I said to myself " I think this is going to be the best band I'm ever going to see". I was spot on. And by 14 I was a concert rat and seen everybody including Elvis. But the Bubbas were the best. And they would rent a house by the Myakka River in Venice and rehearse all night long. We thought it would never end.
I've been enjoying your reaction videos. It's good to see a younger generation interested in music from an earlier era. Y'all really like Gregg. I do, too. Besides singing, he wrote most of their songs, too. I get tickled when I think of an interview I heard of Gregg back in the 70s. He said that he sings like James Brown with no lips! Lots of folks referred to him as "Gruntin' Gregg". He also talked about having a band in the 60s. He said, "We were doing pretty good. Then the damn Beatles came out!" It's not all peaches and cream. The Allmans are my favorite band of all time of anybody. I learned to play guitar, bass, and keyboards listening to "At Fillmore East" album and wore several of them out! Keep on reacting. I enjoy seeing where we agree and disagree. Greg in TN 😀
I'm a 🍑 Allman Brothers lifer'! From underage at a small club in Boston (The Channel) I was hooked from the time I walked through the door saw Gregg for the 1st time on stage, remember it like it was yesterday! Somewhat of a groupie, traveling to see their shows, partied with them. I use to get my spot right under him playin' his Hammond B 3, all the way up to their last show at The Beacon Theater, a heartbreaking night 😢 I love seeing you guy's diggin' it & you both GET it! 🎶 It's nice when people with a musical background discoveri them & understand the elements of their music! Check out Dimples & Dreams. Gregg was a true southern gentleman! ❤️
Bill Maher said when he was on Conan’s show with Gregg ALLMAN that this is the song that he used over the years to get the ladies. Without missing a beat Gregg ALLMAN told him that he would be sending him a bill for that 😂 Great song, great reaction.
I have so enjoyed listening in to you both commenting on these epic songs! I have been hearing the music since 1971 and I can tell you it keeps me going, especially through all the Covid lockdowns here in London. The original line-up of the band was outstanding and only tragedy prevented them from continuing. I hope never to stop listening to Duane, Dickey, Jaimoe, Butch, Berry and Gregg.
Wow I just got out of the hospital and felt like some music and you guys played my 2 all time favorite people the same day. I've been a groupie for the Allmans from 1969 until they retired in 2014 same year I retired and started listening to Elvis and now I love both of them but Gregg's my man forever..got to sit right on the stage and party with the whole band in 94...Gregg said if it wasn't for Elvis Aaron Presley and Richard Perriman ( Little Richard) music might sound real different. .so it Gregg hadn't said that I wouldn't have gotten into Elvis or Zeppelin. So thanks so much for these great reactions this morning you've made an old lady happy today !!!✌️💙
I got this record shortly after it was released - I was like 13. Used to play it down in the basement where we had a rec room. When my Mom would come down to do laundry, she'd ask me to play "Stormy Monday" and we'd groove on it together.
I watch quite a few music reactions and I truly appreciate your insight and comments. Well done gentlemen! I think you would thoroughly enjoy Grand Funk Railroad, Live, Inside Looking Out from 1969.
My favorite Allmans groove and that's saying alot because they have a lot of great songs. I can listen to that everyday. The Fillmore CD has been in every car I have owned for 30 years.
I'm happy you love Gregg Allman's voice, he is my all time favorite. Gregg's singing on PLEASE CALL HOME Is unbelievable, I think you will really enjoy it.
An overlooked album by ABB that you might love is Live at Ludlow Garage. It opens with their classic Dreams but then it also dives into a bunch of classic blues covers. Muddy Waters Trouble No More, John Lee Hooker’s Dimples, Willie Dixon’s Hoochie Coochie Man. All amazing.
Don’t know how I previously missed this reaction to one of my favorite songs but I did. Allman Brothers music has many sounds and is one of the things so appealing to me. I hear rock, country, gospel, blues, jazz and even Latin sounds when I listen to them. These guitars in Stormy Monday seem to be displaying human emotions and crying in anguish.
Another great job!!! One of my favorites from this album. You Don’t love me, is another. I have a scar on my forehead from being a little too high and my head hitting my beer bottle grooving on this.
This song reminded me how good the Allman Brothers truly were. Greg Allman's vocals and keyboards, Duane Allman, Dickie Betts were giants of their time and their music sounds just as good or better today, because who can compare to them?
Great reactions to Stormy Monday! I appreciate your assessment of the Allman Brothers, they were such dedicated, talented and hard-working musicians that you just don't find these days. Just wanted to point out on the lyrics to Stormy Monday that "The Eagle flies on Friday" refers to getting paid on Friday so you can go out and have fun on Saturday, which then of course sets up going to church on Sunday when you pray for forgiveness for all the fun you had on Saturday night. Great Blues lyrics to be sure!
LOVED your reaction to this; definitely blues, to jazz, to gospel organ then back to jazz; wonderful! Grew up with my Dad playing the Fillmore album; this was his favorite cut. He has passed, but his love for the music imprinted my soul, and I play it for him.
I would love to see your reaction to Al Stewart - Year of the Cat. You both know and appreciate excellent musicians and voices; I think you will really enjoy this one.
As much as I hold in esteem the Allman Brothers, one song by the Marshall Tucker Band is among the greatest anthems of Southern Rock. On 9/10/1973, at the Grand Opera House in Macon Georgia, they were featured along with the Allman Brothers that night. Macon, Ga'. at that time was the epicenter of southern rock. The black and white video of the live performance has 35 million views. It has a one second skip in the video; it's not your computer. The lead singer and guitarist, Toy Caldwell, is one year from being wounded in Vietnam while in the USMC. Toy uses his right thumb to play his guitar as does his brother also a member of this great band. You won't be disappointed. ruclips.net/video/dlc6xCPx60U/видео.html As for the Allman Brothers, I, too, join in the request for you to react to Statesboro Blues which is the lead song on the Fillmore East live album. It is a classic and one of the best of the best off of that great album with great guitar work by Duane and Dickey with Gregg's one-of-a-kind voice.
This song is a blue's classic..... Everyone who's anyone has done this song. From T-Bone Walker, Count Basie, Etta James, ( the Three Kings ) BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Bobby Bland, Gray Moore, Roy Buchanan, James Brown. Lou Rawls, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker. And one of my Favorites Ava Cassidy and believe it or not.... Jethro Tull. Love the Blues. Great Channel guys!!
Duane was also a highly sought after studio player, played on a lot of soul albums. He also played with Eric Clapton on the Derrick and the Dominoes album. I believe he played with Aretha Franklin in studio
My very first "favorite" band. Fillmore was the only album that I wore out the vinyl, and much to my parents' chagrin, went out and got another copy. Stormy Monday leads with a Duane guitar solo, Gregg's keys, then finishes with Dickey Betts. Check out 'Done Somebody Wrong' from the same album. Some of Duane's best slide guitar work.
The Allman Brothers, a band without equal.
I know instantly who knows music & who doesn’t based on their reactions when I say the Allman Brothers are my favorite band
It's funny, growing up through the 60's and 70's, I didn't really appreciate the music as much then as I do now because I took it for granted it was always going to get better and lots of it; boy was I wrong.
Born in 1956 & I’ve said the same thing many times.
What were you doin playing hop scotch all day
You are so right!!
There is so much more of it now though. I wouldn’t say it’s better, because you can’t get better than perfect, but there’s plenty that’s as good and equally perfect.
Gregg Allman, Mr. blond hair, blue-eyed SOUL! RIP!
Allman Brothers at Fillmore East is as good as live album as I have ever heard. Every song a Gem.
Yep, my favorite live album. Pretty impressive.
I test any new stereo speakers or headphones out with "Done Somebody Wrong."
It certainly is!
Amen, brother!
There is probably a long line of second best Live albums.but let there be NO mistake...this is #1...JMHO Peace and Love
Great to see kids diggin' the Allman Brothers Band.
50 years on they still hold up a high bar.
The very best of Southern Rock / Blues . It just hits you in the gut and doesn’t let go . Gregg’s vocals on this gives me chills every time . They were also top tier musicians.. Lawd have mercy on me !
"One Way Out" Live at the Fillmore East.
(Or literally anything they ever recorded. It's all top tier.)

Albert Kings version is my favourite
Even Jethro Tull covered it!
The Hammond organ, steely rif's on guitar , dual drummers, and appreciation for the roots of music make this perfect
This was an era where everything was authentic , the musicians and vocalists were truly masterful at their craft . No one was faking it . I can’t think of anything nowadays that gives me chills like this performance.
Nice seeing young dudes giving this music a listen. Your generation will keep this music alive.
The allmond brothers band had a groove and sound that will never be duplicated. Especially with two drummers who are so perfectly aligned
Tedeschi Trucks doesn’t duplicate it, that would be pointless, but they do build on it and take it to the next level in many ways.
Absolutely right my friend. That transition into Soul Serenade by Duane gives me goosebumps everytime.
One of the best things ever!! Well said my friend.
Now that was🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Having a cup of coffee on a Sunday Morning..and listening to AP...and the Allmans...life's good.👍✌️😎
Been here for 68+ years... Allmans at the Fillmore is very likely my all-time favorite album. It is in my blood and soul.
Maybe the best performance on arguably the greatest live recording ever made. Long live ABB!!
The Allman Brothers were the ultimate live band. Duane was the heart and soul, the driving force of this great group.
You have probably heard Gary Moore & Albert King " Stormy Monday " Give it a spin
also check out Bobby "Blue" Bland's take
Kay H not to mention the 2 artists duane speaks of in the intro!bobby blue bland and T bone walker
Eric Clapton with John Mayall's Blues Breaker's !
Lee Michael’s
Check out Duane's work at Muscle Shoals as a studio musician on the collections Anthology 1 and 2.
He played with the likes of Aretha, King Curtis, Wilson Pickett, and many others and was also the second lead guitar on Clapton's Derek and the Dominos' album "Layla".
Listening to Duane and Clapton trading licks on the title track is pure magic.
Duane wrote the opening riff on "Layla" by simply rearranging the timing of the melody of the first verse of "As The Years Go Passing By."
This recording on that particular night is perfect! There is nothing that can be improved upon. I must have heard this 1000 times and it's absolutely flawless.
They own this song!!!!
So glad you two appreciate The Allman Brothers Band. The BEST....
Allman Bros at Fillmore East- greatest live album ever or greatest album ever, period!
This song was written by T Bone Walker and has had several covers over the years. This happens to be my favorite version. I simply love Greg Allmans voice and this song brings out the best. What a voice.
You guys are the best. You understand music! I'm old enough to have seen ABB with Duane live in Tampa in 1970.
You can't go wrong with any song off this album, "at Fillmore East". Keep in mind a few songs from this concert carried over to there next album, "Eat a Peach".
Like "Mountain Jam" - great song, so chill.
B B KING!!! Amazing blues musician and vocalist.
Have an awesome day
This IS the Filmore East , live version . This is an outstanding concert . Greg was such a soulful singer .
I appreciate your reactions your knowledge of the industry is welcomed many reactors get lost in trying figure out the meaning and forget the music..
Amen!
I told you guys about Stormy Monday. Dickey and Dwayne trading licks. And this is probably 71, Live and Auto-Tune hasn’t been invented yet. They were just that good ❤
Duane
"THE EAGLE FLIES ON FRIDAY"
That means it's payday!
It is nice listening to music with y'all.
This blues tune is a classic, done by all the greats... and then some! One of the best ever written and performed. 🎶❤️
Thanks for getting to my request…..this is just fantastic !
I first saw them in Sarasota in 1969 at the City Auditorium.

You guys must checkout - you don’t love me- live version from the Fillmore next!!! Awesome guitar jam!!!!!!!
Wow, what a story! That must've been incredible.
I wish you could have seen them in concert. The best live band ever.
I saw them eight times brother. I was very lucky. I wish I could have seen Duane--my first concert was about 5 months after he passed
This song literally takes you to church!
Bill Maher said when he was on Conan’s show with Gregg ALLMAN that this is the song that he used over the years to get the ladies. Without missing a beat Gregg ALLMAN told him that he would be sending him a bill for that 😂
Great song, great reaction.
👍
Loving this journey for you. EVERYONE wore this record out when I was kid.
'69-'79 may be the best period for music that will ever be...
That was so insightful when at the 7:09 mark of the video you breakdown the type of music being played.
I have so enjoyed listening in to you both commenting on these epic songs! Totally above and beyond
one of the top 5 covers of all time.
The line “the eagle flies on Friday” is a reference to getting paid at the end of the week 🦅💰
Also when Christ is Crucified
Leaving this evil man to have his fun until falling to his knees on sunday
Watching your expressions listening to my favorite band, always makes me smile!! 😊
My condolences to the Allman family and friends 🧡 God bless 🙌 🙏 thanks for your beautiful music 🎶

Thanks for watching!! Get well soon!
You guys constantly remind me of the plethora of phenomenal quality music of my youth
I second that!
I like when they kick it up a notch
As always, Gregg's on 🔥 playing the B3 Hammond organ!
It's been 51 years since I first heard this, and Duane's playing STILL gives me goosebumps
One of the best songs of all time! Just imagine being in the audience for this.
My favorite Allmans groove and that's saying alot because they have a lot of great songs. I can listen to that everyday. The Fillmore CD has been in every car I have owned for 30 years.
Best American Band…..ever!
I'm happy you love Gregg Allman's voice, he is my all time favorite. Gregg's singing on PLEASE CALL HOME Is unbelievable, I think you will really enjoy it.
Yes sir I grew up during the 60s 70s and 80s man that was a great time to be alive
Play this every day in my car. So good!!
it CAN'T get any better than this!!!!!
'Lord have mercy" .."that's my part right there." Feel that feel many times a day and turn to the Cross to keep it real.
"we do that in California too..."...was Brilliant! Love you guys!
.....this song was originally written, recorded and performed by T-Bone Walker. Bobby 'Blue' Bland had a hit with it in 1962..... 😎
Another great job!!! One of my favorites from this album. You Don’t love me, is another. I have a scar on my forehead from being a little too high and my head hitting my beer bottle grooving on this.
Probably my favorite Almond Brothers song. Live in Atlanta ( free Piedmont Park show) it lasted like 45 minutes. Awesome....Capt.Bob
This song reminded me how good the Allman Brothers truly were. Greg Allman's vocals and keyboards, Duane Allman, Dickie Betts were giants of their time and their music sounds just as good or better today, because who can compare to them?

Love the Milwaukee Brewers hat! I just found you guys and really enjoy your videos of the music of my youth!

Glad you enjoyed it!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I bought that album when it first came out. Still have it.
I love this song so much. Bought this album in high school back in the 70’s and I played this song over and over. Thank you! ✌️
One of my favorites for many many years!❤
So very glad you reacted to this amazing version of this song they did! Album is fantastic!
Greatest live performance of ALL TIME END OF STORY
What's up guys you going to like this one I know you already saw it but I saw him do this live excellent blues song enjoy
I would love to see your reaction to Al Stewart - Year of the Cat. You both know and appreciate excellent musicians and voices; I think you will really enjoy this one.
Sooooo much talent

As for the Allman Brothers, I, too, join in the request for you to react to Statesboro Blues which is the lead song on the Fillmore East live album. It is a classic and one of the best of the best off of that great album with great guitar work by Duane and Dickey with Gregg's one-of-a-kind voice.
"Can't You See" is the song.
My first concert. I was 15 my sister took me. Marshall tucker opened for Fleetwood Mac. Man, I was blown away.
Nobody better than Gregg singing the blues...the GOAT.
Stormy Monday, Soulshine & Soul Serenade are my favorite Allman Brothers tunes
Duane was also a highly sought after studio player, played on a lot of soul albums. He also played with Eric Clapton on the Derrick and the Dominoes album. I believe he played with Aretha Franklin in studio
Now that's what I call a Masterclass!
Maybe my favorite blues track of all time.
Great reaction guys, great album. Gotta check out "You Don't Love Me" from this album too.
They covered rolling skating music with this one as well.
