Hey Brian! It's Will! (Jame's cuz) The RUclips algorithm somehow popped up your video as a suggestion. Hope you are doing well. I also got into photography, wish I was at your level! :) My condolences for your loss. My mother also passed away during Xmas, and was back in NYC after over a decade. Strange to be back in the Big Apple. I made it a point to return this Summer to check on my father. Took the opportunity to walk and shoot the city. Changed so damn much. You take care my friend!
So GigaPixel 7 is mostly for faces then? It didn't seem to do much for your clothes or hands. The stairs were mainly ignored. Is there any software out there that might process and improve the entire photograph?
Ugh - I KNEW I forgot to mention something important in my video! Currently, that Gen2 model is only in Gigapixel 7, but I’d expect it to get added to Photo AI eventually. That has been Topaz Labs’ MO over the years.
Do you ever do any selectively masked sharpening (in GAI) after running the Face Recovery to compensate for the areas surrounding the smallish face square sharpening area? In other words, do you mask to sharpen parts of the hair, neck, shoulders, clothing (outside the Face Recovery square) so that the amount of sharpening/recovery is consistent & transitions well from face to the surroundings?
The fallacy with all of this pixel peeping is that a normal viewer who is not shown comparison shots would never ever give the pictures a second thought - oh, there are blurry areas! Oh, the saturation is off! etc. . It's all about the content not the resolution (not talking about totally out of focus etc)
Good video thanks Brian, Just a thought, at 7:44 you say it looks ‘unnaturally sharp’, to your Mom’s old eyes, once it is printed, it may look better ? perhaps printing more than one version would be a good idea?

Nice one mate ... this convinced me to upgrade my version 😉
Excellent, and thank you, mate!
I'm sorry to hear about your dad's passing, mine passed away about that time ago. May God bless their souls.😢
I’m also sorry to hear about your loss, my friend. Indeed, may God bless their souls.
Great video and great photo!

That stoop had a Fort Green feel
I wish I remember the neighborhood. I should ask my mom and report back.
After processing your photo through Topaz do find a need to keep the original or do you delete it? Love your Lightroom videos.
I’m so very sorry about your dad, Brian.
I really appreciate that. I miss him tons.
Brian, is the gen2 face recovery in Topaz AI?

The kid does still look like you.
