The glasses have given me a glimpse of Kai as an older gentleman... Just walking around parks... Being grumpy about cameras. Lok is exactly the same though.
I have a pair of ZV-1 cameras, and I actually use them as streaming cameras - where they perform amazingly well. But I also use them for video work, and are my travel cameras. I solved the 24mm problem with a $49 wide-angle lens attachment. Don't see a need to move to the ZV-1 II.
They got rid of the optical stabilization so you are basically getting 22 mm vs 24 mm. They got rid of the slow motion the original zv 1 had. Same sensor. Probably twice the price. This is lame upgrade.
those external bulky wide lens are not so convenient. Of course if you already have one is maybe not worth upgrading, but if buying new, I would go 18mm in stock already
The cool thing about these compact cameras is you can get into more places with them, without having to store your camera away. A lot of concert stadiums wont allow any cameras with removable lenses. Just wish the stabilisation was better.
i dont think even 1% of the market of this would use 10 bit, or even heard of it. If you think you really need 10 bit just to vlog then maybe you need to improve your color grading, because there are a ton of videogs who still shoot 8 bit for professional work
@@zaymax_7 It's not about being able to grade 8bit, of course you can do it. 10bit gives you more flexibility. 8bit starts banding very quickly if you want to change anything more
I always preferred the RX100 VII to the ZV-1. BUT, the ZV-E10 is way better than either. It is the ZV-E10 that has the best value proposition, with the best compromises of size and price amongst Sony vlogging cameras. The ZV-E1 is too expensive, and with full frame lenses it is too big, and the ZV-1 is too small and the fixed lens is too limiting for me. I think the RX100 VII is still better than the ZV-1 II because of the very slow motion which has been removed from the new camera. Plus a longer tele can be valuable.
Why ZV-1 Mark II 20 megapixels is more expensive than ZV-E10 have 24 megapixels? And for the photos results, which one will be more good? Please answer 🙏🏼 thanks
Don King was not harmed during the making of this video. How much AF noise if any picked up on internal mic? Focus breathing? USB streaming limited to 720p but apparently 1080p stream possible by HDMI... is a separate interface/software needed for that? Compatible with latest ECM-M1 hotshoe mic? Thanks guys..!
Thank you, my dear friend, for the beautiful Mboxing and the wonderful performance. Sony is a giant company in this field Your love from the Middle East
I never liked the zv1 because it was too tight. I got the zv1f and love it but will upgrade to this for sure! But I also hit the s&q button by mistake a couple times the first time I was out using the zv1f haha nice review!
ive got cannon video camera, my life not exciting enough to justify owning it, also have g7xii which is 6 year old hardware that still sells new in stores for 800bux
It’s so shaky, just like the original zv1. I have to wonder if this wasn’t Sonys original lens but decided it was too shaky to they went with a tighter one to minimize the effect.
you want a good vlog camera, even smaller than this Sony? buy a DJI Pocket 2. superb stab, wide 20mm fixed lens with zoom, slow mo, timelapse, 4K in all frame rates, even shoots stills. AND IT COSTS ONLY $350 U.S. over 2/3s less than this so called Vlog camera. dont believe me? go try a Pocket 2. you'll be amazed.
Sorry to ask non related question here. Do we need to remove the battery whenever we didn't use the camera? Can I just leave it inside the camera especially for compact camera?
Great video and review guys. This Zv-1 ii seems pretty disappointing to be honest. I've been waiting for an update for a while but this looks worse in alot of ways than the original.
Well granted I take live music performance video more than vlogging, so I have an RX100vii. Therefore going from 24-70mm ZV-1 to 18-50mm ZV-1 II, for me is a downgrade. 70mm was borderline too little telephoto for live performance, 50mm even worse. And as others have noted you can effectively make the 24mm ZV-1 original 18mm with a selfie stick. And still nearly useless optical image stabilization. My ideal: * Improve the OIS to iPhone 14 Pro sensor-shift awesomeness * add the 8x zoom range of the RX100vii * catch up to Apple's A16 Bionic chip technology so it doesn't overheat with 4K video
stabilization STILL suxx. another over priced lousy stabilization Sony. I read it over heats too, just like the other iterations. this won't sell very well.
Considering a DJI pocket is £600 cheaper and produces better looking footage, this seems like a really underwhelming offer from Sony. Am I missing something?
I’m on zv-1 mk1, but was thinking to switch for zv e10 to get more flexibility with lenses. Would you think that would be wise upgrade? Still love my zv1 though.
Gosh this is the first video on this channel that I’ve had to skip through as this camera is completely pointless and making this video remotely interesting must have been very difficult!. I have a Sony RX100VA and I can safety say there is absolutely no reason for me to go from that to this camera. I’d prefer having 70mm and the aperture ring thanks very much!. This doesn’t have better battery life, no 10Bit, no 70mm. The autofocus on my RX100va is perfectly fine, fast and reliable enough, the touch screen is unnecessary on a small camera like this!. So anyone with even an RX100m3 this new camera is utterly pointless!. You can tell this camera is crap because the first six minutes of this video is just full of fluff, no literally the microphone fluffy cover…literally filled with fluff because there is nothing interesting to report with this camera!. For £870 Sony is having a bloody right laugh!.
You guys need to design BETTER audio windscreens - as a side business. Somebody needs to make a BIGGER after-market stick-on grip. Your skin tone seemed to change in S-Log3. Softer.
For most people, sure. I vlog when I go hiking and for me the benefit will always be that I can swap batteries and SD cards on my ZV. I need my phone for emergencies and don't want to be constantly worrying about using up the battery and memory. Plus there's the rotating screen for framing my shots. Finally, I just prefer filming (and taking pictures) with a dedicated camera. Yes the best camera is the one you have on you but if I'm going out to shoot I'll always take a dedicated camera
@@JonnoDoesStuff that’s fair, I understand the idea of a dedicated device for video and photo. It’s just that I expect a bigger difference in quality when looking at the price and the fact that it’s sole purpose is to capture photo and video
@jiro the image quality is quite a bit better on these point and shoot cameras, especially when in lower light situations. Optical zoom, bokeh, etc. Colours are yours to change, so that's not really important for the discussion. Yes, phones are good enough for the job, but they aren't at the same level currently.
Looks like another Sony re-hash, using tech that is over 6 years old. How any camera manufacturer can release a camera without IBIS and call it a 'vlogging' camera is ridiculous.
Why is the view backwards? I can't see anything but the presenters face. Point the other way. I can't see the park or anything and I'm walking backwards. Irritating
Please do not buy this awful camera anyone. This entire video looks like a Vlog from 2006. Good lord Sony, that zoom noise is straight out of 1999 at 8:00 Yikes! This camera will go down as a mistake from Sony. Why on earth would you make a camera with the body from 1999 Canon Powershot that is going after the SmartPhone vlogger audience? This design died already and Sony is bringing it back like a Night of The Living Dead Zombie. Smartphones killed these cameras and they should remain buried in the ground. The whole experience seems way too Vloggy for me with this camera. I much prefer all the video from Lok's camera. It's like Sony took all the A7sIII goodness of the sensor and removed everything that made it good. Just seems like an old canon ELPH from days old that has bad audio and really bad stabilization. If you have to have a section in the video called How to Improve the Mic, you know the MIC is utter trash. Sony should just update firmware on A7sIII and other cameras to make those better.

Nope, not at all. I'll pick up a used ZV-1 in the $450 range before paying $900 for this.
