    Hi Donna. I'm new to your channel and I am so impressed! I found Junk Journals at the beginning of the pandemic lock-down, so I've made many since then. But I am always trying to learn new ways, the right way, to do them. And you just hit the nail on the head. Your videos are concise, clear, and easy to follow. A big thank you for your efforts. I, too, am a chronic pain sufferer, having broken my back in high school doing gymnastics. I find my time in my craft room isn't pain free, but being creative takes my mind off of my pain and makes life enjoyable.

    Like many have said following this video, a great refresher! Concise! So easy to follow. Ive spent dar to much time collecting rather than making. I've got get stitching! Another idea is to use very thin elastic and tie a knot on the inside. one for each signature! This way a page can be taken out to embellish and slipped back in under the elastic. New sub. Many thanks 😊

    I am crazy about that Women's weekly home journal June 59 edition, I think it is, and cannot find it anywhere in the US. Darnit! I love love love this tutorial, also! First time viewer and new subscriber, thanks for all of the tips and clear education . The page guide was brilliant, and so was the validation that it doesn't have to make sense when picking out what pages you decide to put in the journals. I am a fan of the vintage style and have dived in deep to the collecting stage since discovering junk journaling, about 2 months ago, and I see all these tutorials with digital kits, which are beautiful, but I so love holding a piece of paper or fabric that has a history, and wondering about who held it or wore it and what the story is behind it, etc... I am not disparaging digitals, bc I have bought a couple, but I am so interested in the vintage collectibles and adding them as pages and ephemera, and I always questioned why in the world I felt compelled to put a beautiful botanical page in the journal and also, tuck an ad for a 70s Chrysler in there, as well. Lol Thank you for giving me the permission by saying it doesn't have to make sense.

      g'day Monica! it's so lovely to meet you, I loved your letter style comment, it tells me so much about you, you know my friend gave the the that copy of home journal, and I have since seen it for sale on market place, i was in aw they sell for a high price now. I love the index page it is such excellent qaulity paper and worked so well for this type of journal. I'm with you on the digi's theyre great, and have a place, as you can see i sprinkled them in among these pages in this video, bc some ladies just can't get a hold of the real thing. arhh the 70's Chrysler it sounds like we have similar taste, i love that!! thanks again for poping in for a chat until next time ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna and happy crafting

    Your initial comments “zingers”! Good ones. I wish I had known, and/or understood this initially. I have watched many junk journal videos by very advanced crafters and got a lot of ideas, even followed a few folio and other concepts which were great. I think I felt pressure (self imposed) to make a journal with lots of signatures or at least several. You’re correct, it can be whelming and overwhelming! Stepping out too far too fast … hmmm. Excuses? Yeah. They can become that easily.
    Backing up… Backing up!
    I believe I am nearing having the craft space designated and organized. Not too big (not enough room for that) not too small (unworkable) but just right? Able to see how my own work flow goes. Now, to just get back to creating. I like creating from imagination and hope to get that going instead of following (too many) patterned styles.
    Thanks for your encouragement and instruction. ❣️

      @JunkJournalideas  9 месяцев назад +1

      thanks Jenn I'm pretty passionate about the way you should start, I'm for anything that makes sense, so I'm happy you labelled my opening as "zingers" lol love it 😀 🙏💙🦋

      @@JunkJournalideas I’ve been pondering the difference … in so many videos I started with, everyone said use what you have, save this or that, and some other more beginner type advice. However, with very few exceptions, they all made very detailed pages and journals etc. your intro zingers, advice and instructions really helped! And it’s cleared my congested thoughts, though I still have some questions.
      Such as, with so many journal pages there really isn’t much area to write and so that’s blocked my ability to pick and choose print and picture pages. I think I’m understanding it. But, being one who journals for pages, as if you might not have figured THAT out, those little spaces throw me. Ha ha 🤪😂 so, thanks again for the detailed explanations, advice, and show & tell. ❣️

    • @JunkJournalideas
      @JunkJournalideas  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@jennr7500 I'm getting straight to the meat and potato! lol I like to add a blank, semi blank or lined paper in between each patterned or book page paper. That said, I also add 75% printed/book page papers and less journaling paper bc that's my style of journaling (not much lol) I suggest you make your journal 75% (e.g) blank and lined papers and then a few book pages and pretty paper for fun sake. You can even add 100% of blank/lined papers and journal away, and then glue some little images that relate to what your writing about on the day. The balance is in your control to enjoy xx

      I think bc the majority of junk journals are pictures etc I felt rather like I was missing the point? I have odds and ends of stuff completed and much waiting in the way of decorating or becoming such. Why do some or many of us need permissions to be creative? Ahhh. Criticism. That’s an idea killer. how to sort them for easy grab an go. How do you store your pages? Do you leave them in books or cut the books and sort the pages?

    • @JunkJournalideas
      @JunkJournalideas  9 дней назад

      hey Leanne, your lucky to have your stash built up already it sure makes it easier when inspiration strikes, youy're ready to go! I have clear trays that are A4 size they stack on top of each other and I can put whole books in them that I have already taken apart or just loose pages or gathered papers. I mostly take my books apart as soon as i get them home! i love dismantling them.
      I also have a bookshelf that i lay all my books in a stack rather than put them on their ends ( I dont display the spine) I also have 3 x 2 door linen cupboards that hubs put together for me loaded with shelves. I stack everything and anything in them. 🥰🐝🌹🦋 crafty hugs Donna

      It can be frustrating when things don't line up exactly, but keep practicing! look up a bookbinders cradle, you can buy them or DIY one, they help get the holes of the pages and the cover in line with the spine 😉🐝🌹🦋 crafty hugs Donna
