“In 1988, with the WWF's WrestleMania IV around the corner, Crockett decided to give McMahon a taste of his own medicine. He aired his own supercard, Clash of the Champions for free on TBS on March 27, 1988 - the same night as WrestleMania.[1] The first Clash was of PPV caliber and made Sting a star after he wrestled NWA World Champion Ric Flair to a 45-minute draw.”
Always loved hearing Flair tell his stories. I could listen for hours! I've always been amazed with the memory this guy has! Great show again this week! Also enjoyed Ric's '1' date with Vanna White! sounded like she took a long ride on space mountain! Wooooo!
Woooooo! To what will be another great show. It's the best thing going today! In the case of my situation base, it's going to be the greatest fight at 10 o'clock tonight. Waiting in Melbourne to Wooooooo!
This was the best episode yet. These two guys are just naturals. Mark Madden should 100% be announcing right now, if he wants to. He'd be as good or better than the top guys...I hope the advertisers and potential advertisers for this podcast realize that the people who watch are watching the WHOLE DAMN THING. EVERY SECOND. I've watched each episode all the way through. I guarantee that's not the case for other wrestling podcasts. These two are the best. Wooooooooo!
I watched that full replay of ric’s win in the Royal rumble. He was 3rd and KICKED ASS. So many great and historic names and the nature boy ends up on top!
I had forgotten about that NWA v. AWA match FLAIR had with MARTEL! I remember liking Rick Martel a LOT! I thought he was great on the mic as a " good guy" and especially as "The Model" heel persona! I forgot he was from Canada because he never exploited it as a gimmick and I never heard Bret Hart mention any Canadian stars except Dynamite Kid or his relatives! Gotta check out Flair v. Martel next!
You guys are really finding your groove. i enjoy the hockey and football talk being sprinkled throughout. Mark, might be time to invest in a green screen to put behind you. they sell them at five below. the full episode podcasts still don't show up in my RUclips subscription feed. but all you clips do.
Great episode, gentlemen! Some random thoughts: -Surprised to hear that Ric liked the Condrey/Eaton version of the Midnights more than the Eaton/Lane era. Personally, i think Stan's look and moves added a new dimension to the team. Stan looked like an athlete. Dennis just kind of looked like...some guy. Not taking anything away from his work, though; Dennis Condrey could absolutely go. -I think the one thing that sets Miz apart from his contemporaries is that he avoids being a "cool heel." He's always trying to be as selfish and obnoxious as possible, with no apologies. -Very nice to hear the guys talk about Bobby Eaton. I was listening to Mark on the radio when he opened his show with a tribute to Bobby on the day he died. He became very emotional, and so did I, having grown up watching Beautiful Bobby jump into the rafters of the old TBS studio. More Bobby stories, please! -The Briscoes need to be on that "Best Tag teams" list. Hopefully they land somewhere very soon. Thanks, and can't wait for more great content!
My mother had a photo taken in a North Mpls bar with C. Hennig, R. Rude and B. Darsow. (Smash) I can't express the disgust I feel over losing that photo! Greatest Demolition showing (my opinion) was a tag title loss vs The Brainbusters, T. Blanchard and A. Anderson. Match highlights: Anderson executed a FLAWLESS Spinebuster on the larger Smash, and Ax absolutely redefined the Body Slam by literally BOUNCING (can't remember which) his opponent nearly a foot off the mat before doing his Gene Simmons tongue display. Bobby Heenan's team won the belts and it was the only memory I have of Tully Blanchard celebrating anything outside of the N.W.A..
Rick Derringer's entry music opening riff paired with those 'Beastmaster' helmets they wore ...was one of the few moments I looked forward to in those pre-'Attitude' days!!
Another good episode, just wanted to add the Briscoe Brothers to the conversation, them against FTR would be a classic. Tully and Arn in my book was the best jmo
I think Ric was right the first clash of champions might have been against Wrestlemania but no way Mike Vick can throw a football 100 yards. He might have been able to throw 70 to 80 yards at best. WoOOOoOOooOOooOO Right or Wrong Naitch is still the man
Look we had been waiting nicely expecting madden with his mouth and assertiveness over Flair? You’re talking to the Rolex wearing Diamond Ring Wearing Kiss Stealing, Woo Wheeling Dealing Limousine Riding Jet Flyin’ SON OF A GUNNNN! Diamond R Forever! Wooooo! You’re never be first but you might be next! Wooooooo
Okay, another Flair podcast, let's review: Madden's right, the drinking game should include the "10 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound bag" but for the alcoholics among us Naitch's "Does that make sense?" is the real winner. And where are the Tshirts? Goddamn, Conrad Thompson put a shirt out anytime Bruce Pritchard farted so a Ric Flair Wooooo Nation "Does that make sense?" shirt shouldn't be a big deal. I'm trying to accept Madden and put my memories of Y2K Nitro's behind me but goddamn, he's 10 shows in and still hasn't challenged Ric on even a minor point and during this show he had the opportunity to say something about Jim Cornette but demurred because Flair likes Cornette. He won't do anything to jeopardize his relationship with Flair, which in reality he could NEVER do. He's in. Flair is loyal and criticism might sting but he wouldn't "get rid of" Madden if Mark challenged him on occasion. On a positive, I give him huge credit for admitting his faults as a color commentator on Nitro. When he started on Nitro I only knew his name as writer on the dirt sheets. He was in the unenviable position of follow Heenan and he just tried way too hard to be edgy. I'm sure Russo was in his ear saying "More, more, great stuff!" so I can't put it all on Mark. It takes balls and class to admit his part though. And he's 100% right, the commentary today is so lame he would be better now than 90% of them. I mean Pat Macafee is pretty much doing a Mark Madden imitation anyway. Re: "we'll save this for the live show": Ask Conrad Thompson what happens when you keep telling your audience that you're saving the good stuff for "the live show". Carrot dangling doesn't work with wrestling fans; they're going to be there because they like the personality, period. Overall, the show improves with every episode and I feel like any stink Ric had on him for his previous podcasts is in the rearview mirror. People who love wrestling podcasts should give this show a real listen.
Address 'The Plane Ride'. If this is really uncensored, do it. If you did ask that lady to do that, say it. It was wrong. There's no way of excusing it. There is no out.
Madden started color commentary after David arquette win the title. Literally anyone could be on the show. That’s why JBL put a chair through Blue Meanies skull for television superiority.
First of all there’s no way he could’ve wrestled steamboat 1500 times. Think about it that would have to be every day for almost 5 years and he definitely wrestled other people than steamboat. Number to Jim Cornette’s blade job was not that bad
You definitely can't go off of ratings cus millions of ppl watch wrestling on the internet...and actually ive never watched 1 episode of aew on tv only the internet
Lets be honest here...wrestling now just isn't as popular as wrestling was in the 1980s or 1990s...even WWE isn't doing great numbers...unfortunately wrestling might be in the worst shape ever as far as viewership goes...I think once people knew it was fake it killed wrestling also all the dirt sheets spoilers etc...I wished there was an element of surprise nowadays in wrestling everything just seems so predictable and everyone knows when peoples contracts are up and who is going where...
Until wrestling stops being a fred and ginger choreographed dance routine a million viewership will be all it will draw. Sad to see the talent bust their butts and risk injury for such poor viewership. Fundamental change is the only solution. Just like Hollywood films the acting has to be better.
Mark Madden is out of his mind if he thinks Those out of shape clowns FTR are a better and more marketable team than the USO. Only nerds know ftr, everybody knows the ISO’s. And the USOs matches are logical. FTR matches look fake
I've got to say I was excited about this podcast, but you both talk about the same shit week in week out. Also 50 percent of what flair says you should take with a pinch of salt. I feel 50 percent of what he says is bullshit. It's just my opinion but hey what do I know 🤷♂️. Just ask shane douglas.
I just recently been deep diving wrestling and the one person I instantly seen and said " this kid should not be in the ring " is Domminick he just is to tall and lanky and looks horrible trying to the moves his father does

CLASSIC!
Woooooo! To what will be another great show. It's the best thing going today! In the case of my situation base, it's going to be the greatest fight at 10 o'clock tonight. Waiting in Melbourne to Wooooooo!
Best Podcast out there is Woooooooooo THIS SHOW !!!!!!
Mark, you gotta stop cuttin' off Ric so much, man. Jesus.
I totally agree, it gets annoying at times, just let Mr. Flair talk and educate the masses
Wooooo best thing going today 50 years count one diamond in rough look at woooooo
Your promos and matches in TNA i still watch. Some of your best work in my opinion
I want a whole segment on Ric Flair's trip to North Korea
FLAIR & STEAMBOAT SHOW WHILE THESE GUYS MEMORIES STILL SHARP.
Naitch is the real deal. Knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable about all sports
This was the best episode yet. These two guys are just naturals. Mark Madden should 100% be announcing right now, if he wants to. Who won both in prime ray Steven's and nick vs tully and arn both bobby heenan and jj dillion both at ringside
Very good question. 2 of probably best 5 teams ever 1960s onwards.
I watched that full replay of ric’s win in the Royal rumble. He was 3rd and KICKED ASS. So many great and historic names and the nature boy ends up on top!
Two of the greatest tag teams....The Anderson’s & the Road Warriors.
Happy 30th Anniversary Ric Flair won 1992 Royal Rumble Match & become new WWF Champion! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! #Respect

Mark when asking a question it’s customary to let the other person try to answer it before answering it yourself.
And Mark, you don’t have to yell everything!!!!!!!!
First live event I ever attended was the 1986 Great American Bash in Charlotte with the headline being Flair/Morton. Awesome show!!!
WOOOOO!!! WOO!
The man!!!
16 times baby 💪🌴

I'm lifting weights dieing at you saw shoeless Joe right hahahaha
Another great thing about Ricky Morton is that he could throw great looking punches.
Brian song was great I'm 63 I watched it when it first came out
Yeah Brian's song. That's my favorite. The movie that made me a bears fan!!
Sure Ric is right 1st Clash of Champions was against Wrestlemania in 1988.
*WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!*
No one ever talks about Demolition. One of the best tag teams ever
My mother had a photo taken in a North Mpls bar with C. Hennig, R. Rude and B. Darsow. (Smash)

VIVA WOOOOO
To be the man, you have to beat the MAN! Woooooo!
What’s the event in st Louis they were talking about ?
DA GOAT WOOOOOO
I want to join the woo Nation are you still in Atlanta area
I thought Arn Anderson was inducted into the WWE hall of fame with the Four Horsemen back in 2012.
CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS with Sting v. Flair was up against WRESTLEMANIA 4 (Randy Savage in the WWF WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT)
When I grew up Atlanta was the team to beat and chipper Jones was my favorite player
I remember when Flair used the training bra line with Steamboat long before Morton.
There's another good sports movie for you Mark 8 men out. About the world series you were mentioning Shoeless Joe Jackson when they got banned.
Mark, do the Lucha Brothers make at least your top 5?
Top wrestling announcers, solie Jim Ross Tony schiavanne, Bobby heenan gorilla monsoon and Jesse Ventura
Cobb was the best baseball movie
Another good episode, just wanted to add the Briscoe Brothers to the conversation, them against FTR would be a classic. Tully and Arn in my book was the best jmo
Wwwooooooo. & Greant interview
Got any swag available shirts pullovers tank tops I love to buy some if you do
Always heard Elway could bomb one end zone to end zone.
Wahoo is in the HOF. He was a legacy inductee in 2019.
Your the greatest 16x world heavyweight champion ever. John Cena can't even hold your jock strap!
Ric Flair dominated the 1980s…..
Love you Ric!!!
and I fuckin mean that!
Be #Fair2Flair

Ric is a National Treasure. Love him being able to talk without the WWE looking over his shoulder.
Ric Flair is a funny guy…..
Address 'The Plane Ride'. If this is really uncensored, do it. If you did ask that lady to do that, say it. It was wrong. There's no way of excusing it. There is no out.
Jim Cornette vs Mark Madden.....Main Event....Tonight be there.
Bob Caudle is top 5.
Madden started color commentary after David arquette win the title. Literally anyone could be on the show. That’s why JBL put a chair through Blue Meanies skull for television superiority.
The miz is the most successful wrestler from tough enough
First of all there’s no way he could’ve wrestled steamboat 1500 times. Think about it that would have to be every day for almost 5 years and he definitely wrestled other people than steamboat. Number to Jim Cornette’s blade job was not that bad
The bucks are extremely overrated too
What about Rick and Scott Steiner? They were one of the most bad ass credible tag teams of the late 80s and early 90s
Landish
You definitely can't go off of ratings cus millions of ppl watch wrestling on the internet...and actually ive never watched 1 episode of aew on tv only the internet

Scott Hall would not wrestle GoldDust.
Mark Madden is a good podcast co-host but never will be Conrad Thompson
Until wrestling stops being a fred and ginger choreographed dance routine a million viewership will be all it will draw. Sad to see the talent bust their butts and risk injury for such poor viewership. Fundamental change is the only solution. Just like Hollywood films the acting has to be better.
Never rated the bucks or Hardy boys & lawyer was corny & in funny on commentary
MADDEN SUCKS!! WOOOO!!
Steiner bros? Road warriors? U have Alzheimer's or what?
Flair is drunk and slurs
Mark Madden is out of his mind if he thinks Those out of shape clowns FTR are a better and more marketable team than the USO. Only nerds know ftr, everybody knows the ISO’s. And the USOs matches are logical. FTR matches look fake

Madden is a terrible interviewer. Just terrible.
Flair says uhhh a lot and so delusional. So boring
I also like " Billionaire Conrad " more them Mark but still doesn't matter who it is cause its about The Man Ric Flair...funniest wrestler ever
I just recently been deep diving wrestling and the one person I instantly seen and said " this kid should not be in the ring " is Domminick he just is to tall and lanky and looks horrible trying to the moves his father does
Have you seen Orange Cassidy? 😂
