Funny thing is Ghost fo Tsusima is inspired by Assassin's Creed. When it came out everyone's first reaction was "It is AC Japan".
I'm playing it now (ghost of tsushima) on pc and i shout out...fucking assassins creed. It is and it's not. PS games have same engine? It surely looks like it and have same mechanics and looks. Not free climbing like in most of AC games. There are ledges what what you have use. I almost lost it with horizon forbidden west bc fucking jumping was so bad. Great game though, but yea...PS games like mechanics feel all similar. At least you know what to do in uncharted and horizon and ghost. Same. I really hate mountains in bethesda games. In assassin's creed you can climb anything. and i like it
Kind of funny that you didn't like Naoe fighting at the end, her fighting with that weapon and cutting the bamboo has been one of most people's favorite moments from her lol.
The enemies barely stagger when they get hit. It’s like she’s hitting them with a pillow.
I just wish the combat looked less arcade-ish.
I’ve been playing Witcher 3 lately and it’s so satisfying everytime you cut someone with your sword. You feel + see the impact and the enemies react accordingly.
Things could definitely be polished by release tho. 🤞
@@SHSLBLAZE actually when she uses her actual skill which is the bigger spin that knocks out all the bamboo, you see the enemies fall back. We knew from the beginning that she's weaker then Yasuke though so I'm not expecting her to send people flying xD. Also it depends on the weapon type. Like when she uses her katana in another sequence, they definitely feel it.
It's a work in progress, let's not judge too quickly 😅, maybe it will be better when it will release.
Seasons will affect approach. In winter the pond will be frozen so you won't swim to assassinate.

Coincidentally, you've watched AC Shadows gameplay when using Yasuke & Naoe and can choose between fighter/stealth style while the next game you're about to play after Unity DLC is AC Syndicate which uses the same concept where Jacob is more combat oriented while Evie is more stealthier
Though in gameplay Jacob and Evie are almost identical lol, it's just their personalities that are different, while Yasuke and Naoe seem to be mechanically distinct too!
Both games were headed by Ubisoft's Quebec studio, so it seems like a safe bet that in Shadows they're building on the ideas they first had for Syndicate.

Hey Blaze, from what I've read you will be able to play the entire game as either one of the two protagonists with the only exception being personal quests that they will both have.
You should definitely play Ghost of Tsushima, because ac shadows combat looks like its pulled straight from it haha.
I disagree, GOT's combat is kind of a mix of the Arkham games and the other RPG assassins creed games.

@@gtmo55mack20 It is, there's no locking on, and the way you attack different enemies is the same way you do in the arkham games, the only difference is that the enemies have more health and some other minor differences.
@@sober1.6 no it’s not Arkham you hit two buttons ghost has different stances that have different moves sets and there is a lock on feature you can turn on.
The RPG games do have dialogue options, though they were removed in favor of a more linear story, since people started complaining.
I'm really hyped for this game! Also I think that this build is like 6 monts old, hope they show us more recent footage soon!
About the Yasuke thing, the people that are against him are absolute idiots.
I maybe would have been a little bit against him too if Ubi just wanted to push more black characters in their games for no real and logical reason other than inclusivity, but it's not that (or at least just that)
They chose him because he's the first (maybe the only) black samurai, but he's a real person. He also fits well because he's exploring Japan just like us and there's not a lot written about him, just his legends, so Ubi has a lot of room for creativity. It's also the first time in AC where we play as real historical figures, which for AC is extremely cool
Other than that I can't wait for the game, wiping out the fortresses with Naoe and ofc watching you play it which I'm glad you're as hyped for it as me.
Actually, is pretty well confirmed that he was never a samourai. He was given some privillege by Nobunaga but him being samourai for now, not sure at all. Not like it change anything, a game is a fiction and he can be very interesting. And he is more or less a samourai in folklore at least.

@@MaigenMaylight Yes exactly. But if we read some comment, that funny how ultimate fidelity and 100% accuracy AC should be, now and Only for Yasuke... Another fun fact that they pratically never responded that, if we need 100% accuracy we should make a lot of gay samourai who was a very open period to a point that it's honorifical. But strangely, they never reclamed that accuracy.
Yaju is a perfect supporting character, but the protagonists should be Asian men and women. If Ubi wants to make a game with a black protagonist, it should be set in Africa. I'm sure there will be great games there. historical stage and culture
I honestly don't care about Yasuke. The only time I rolled my eyes is when the marketing called him a "legendary samurai", despite the leads themselves said that they chose Yasuke because of the lack of concrete documentation regarding his history. Plus, it's AC. They've been screwing around with history since over 15 years ago.
If you want your Japanese samurai, there's always Ghost of Tsushima that people can't stop talking about (it was deserved anyway). Or for those who for some reason, can't shut the hell about wanting a custom character (in AC, like why?), there's Rise of the Ronin.

Ubisoft's playing it hard for long-time Splinter Cell and stealth games fans to not be excited for this. If we can play proper stealth as Naoe for most of the game, that'd be fantastic.
I am happy I wasn't the only one that went crazy over turning off lights like you do in splinter cell 😆
Say what you want about Ubisoft Quebec’s AC games (Syndicate, Odyssey, and now Shadows) but they always make a polished game overall.
Can’t wait for the rest of the AC marathon. Finishing the rest of the games before November is gonna be a big task tho
I was debating whether or not I wanted to watch this, but here I am now. The combat system seems to be consistent with the latest entries. The diamonds are the adrenaline meter to use special attacks, and from what i've seen of this, the gameplay itself reminds me of a mix of Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh/Rise of the Ronin among a few other things.
Edit: watched some parts a few more times and did a little research. The game starts in 1579 so that means 1 of 3 things. 1. The Honnoji incident will be the climax of the game. 2. Honnoji is the midpoint and Hideyoshi will be the big bad. 3. Honnoji is the climax and there will be either DLC or a sequel that deals with Hideyoshi.
I know it's still in development but the combat itself doesn't look too terribly impressive given my experience with other titles but only time will tell.
I am still waiting for ac syndicate, its not bad , but its decent . But it has one of the best dlc
This looks pretty good, though a few animations could look smoother. I do like that the cutscenes actually seem to look like a cutscene, that hasnt really happened since Origins.
If you are thinking of playing Ghost of Tsushima, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Great animation, great story, great stealth, and combat. You can tell a lot of care went into making it.
Thought of our boy Sam too as soon as i saw the lantern extinguishing!
Unity and Syndicate still have the best animations of all the acs
i hope they DONT do too many dialogue options bcs they take away the immersive feeling, bcs a lot of the dialogue options dont make any sence or dont do anything special. A lot of the times the stories are less strong to fit that, without those options the story is often more polished

lol the weapon you didn't like is the one the rest of us are loving the look of. I think it's because you haven't played the RPGs yet, which are not as smooth as Shadows at all. Yasuke combat is basically what Odyssey and Valhalla are.

Yo when you mentioned Splinter Cell I got a little sad - we're still waiting for that remake :( Was hoping it would be shown during the Ubi showcase.
I'm glad AC Shadows looks good and I'm definitely looking forward to it, but I would do unspeakable things for a new Splinter Cell, man. I would even be fine with a SC where we don't play as Sam - it would be cool if we could create our own agent this time around and Sam Fisher serves as our mentor or handler like Lambert.

8:03 the weight that you speak off is completely lacking in the rpg games sadly. Especially so with origins and odyssey

Hey Blaze, I wonder if you would consider maybe playing through Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice on the channel maybe? The story is incredible and the acting is top notch, I feel like it'd be a fantastic experience for you. It's not overly long either, one to three episodes would do it.
It'd be pretty cool because the God of War series represents Norse mythology, then you would get experience Hellblade's representation of it as well, which is really visceral and intense. Oh, also there are cool horror elements :)

Yaske isn’t the main character, Naowe is (pretty sure I spelled that wrong😂). She is the one with the assassin blade, so that makes her the main character, Yaske is a “co-main character”, but I believe the game is more about Naowe than Yaske. After all, you’d expect an assassins creed game to be about the assassin…….right?😂

I'm looking forward to the game, but I have to disagree upon dialogue options. As far as AC goes, even without acknowledging how they break lore. They don't make the protagonist feel like a character and more like a "vessel" for the player.
So, it seems like the choosing of characters is their compromise of dialogue options where they can fully write a character but still give players freedom of choice to how the game is played.
They took elements from ghost of Tsushima but that isn’t a bad thing if you making a samurai in your game you want your samurai to move how a samurai move samurai enemies possible other ninjas as well we know there are going to be factions of enemies they did they homework picking up the torch making good assassins creed in Japan game
I just hope the game will be good so I got another game to put alongside Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin, being games set in different periods in Japanese history. But Ubisoft being Ubisoft, they're usually the kind of studio with the idea but fall flat in execution in favor of profit. From what I see, a lot of things are a step up from the RPG trilogy but that could have been staged and scripted for the presentation. Guess I'll wait until the full game is released for those who got the Gold Edition for the early access.
I'm not a big fan of dialogue options personally.
The combat looks better than in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. That's what I loved about the older AC games too. I could feel the weight of weapons.
Same, I feel like dialogue options are redundant in a series about reliving memories.
Not to mention, I feel like it's the reason why the facial animations took a big nosedive in Odyssey and Valhalla. Even Mirage suffered from it since it was made from Valhalla's build.
Personally, i don't like dialog options in games, or at least in Assassin's Creed. It really depends on how they implement it.
Also i recomend you try out Ghost of tsushima. Its my personal favorite AC game, even tho its not AC.

Im hoping this game is good, it looks like it has potential. I dont mind the inclusion of Yasuke but it is definetly for pc points. He's the 2nd protagonist thats a real historical character (which seems to be their justification) and from what i understand he isnt ever defined as a samurai perse. Him being relatively vague helps the devs story wise to be creative though and so long as they can make a good game still i wont mind. But its defs a pc choice, rather than just having 2 japanese people and yasuke appearing as an npc (like 99% of other historical characters in the games)

The controversy over whether or not he was a Samurai seems to have entirely started with the AC Shadows trailer - the consensus among historians is that he was most likely a Samurai, and has been taken for granted in sources discussing him for years. Basically, while he's never explicitly referred to as a Samurai in the handful of historical sources we have about him, this isn't that strange (he's only mentioned a few times, and many Samurai who are only briefly mentioned in historical sources are not referred to by that specific term), and the things that are mentioned about him all point to him being someone who would have been counted among the Samurai class during the period. He is described as receiving a sword and home from Oda Nobunaga, being made a vassal of Oda Nobunaga, receiving a stipend (with the term we translate as "stipend" exclusively being used to refer to payments given to Samurai every other time it appears in the source that refers to Yasuke receiving one!), and acting as a weapons bearer for Oda Nobunaga (which is a task that would be filled by a "Kosho" in most cases - "Kosho" is often translated as "page," which has led to slight confusion among English-speakers, but Kosho were considered a type of Samurai, just usually inexperienced ones who worked for more powerful lords. Non-Samurai were not typically entrusted with the weapons of Samurai, let alone one as powerful as Oda Nobunaga), he was recorded fighting in at least one battle and marching on one other military campaign, and he was among the forces who were not dismissed when all of Oda's "ordinary soldiers" were, alongside a bunch of Samurai. All of these things point to him being a Samurai, so that interpretation has not faced any scholarly contestation as far as I'm aware; this dispute only seems to have arisen on the internet, seemingly initially among people who didn't want Yasuke to be a protagonist in AC Shadows for other reasons, and then through some very loud commenters and repeated Wikipedia edits it spread to lots of people who were just unfamiliar with him before.
I also don't think it's fair to treat it as self-evident that the only reason the devs possibly would have included Yasuke as a playable character is for "pc points" - while it's certainly possible that that was running through their minds, Yasuke is also an interesting figure with a lot of gaps in his story, and as an outsider to Japanese culture serves as a good surrogate for the presumed non-Japanese audience (these are the motivations they've highlighted, and I think it's a little unfair to assume they're lying just because Yasuke is Black). This latter point also falls in line with a TON of media set in feudal Japan, like the recently released HBO series Shogun or the game Nioh, both of which feature fictionalized versions of William Adams, the first English Samurai, as their main character; it's simply a really well-established trope to feature foreign Samurai in historical fiction media set in Japan (there are also examples featuring fully fictional protagonists like Last Samurai, with an American protagonist, and the movie 47 Ronin as well as the recent show Blue Eye Samurai, both featuring fictional mixed-race protagonists (though in those first two cases the motivation may have been as much about putting popular American movie stars in the led roles as anything else)). Yasuke is Black instead of White like these other examples, but I don't think being Black alone is a good reason to assume a totally different motivation. He's a pretty well-known historical figure, generally believed to have been the first foreign-born Samurai known by name, and one who lived during a very pivotal period of Japanese history; it makes a ton of sense to choose him as a protagonist if you want your character to be new to Japanese society while still being a Samurai as opposed to a merchant or missionary like most foreigners in Japan at the time! Now, I do think it's fair to criticize the trend of acting like Western audiences need a surrogate to introduce them to Japanese culture, since that's not usually how other cultures are treated, but I don't think it's right to assume Yasuke was chosen for "pc points," that to me reads as a double standard.
That's a lot of words I just typed so TL;DR: The consensus among historians is that Yasuke most likely was a Samurai based on the available evidence, and while it's possible that Ubisoft chose to make Yasuke the protagonist for "pc points," there are other reasons they've highlighted that are in-line with the reasons why a lot of characters in other Samurai media are also foreign Samurai, so I think it's unfair to take this as a given.

I like the idea of this game but I don’t think it’s gonna execute the vision long time fans had for a Japan AC. Kinda feels 6-10 years too late. It’ll certainly look amazing though. The real ninja experience I’m craving is an open world Naruto RPG, where you do Justus like you do stratagems in helldivers 2 lol
The only time we had powers was in Odyssey, and she was a demi god, why would you want to do Jutsus? Just play Naruto, not Ac, yes there are some gods like Junon or Minerva, but no powers, not REAL powers I mean
If you haven't played it yet: Final Fantasy XIV has a Ninja class where you combine hand signs to execute buffs/debuffs and some damaging abilities. It's not a singleplayer open world RPG, but if you're itching for a shinobi playstyle in an RPG, it's worth a shot - you can unlock the class and play it completely free with the trial, too.

The funny thing is, they said quite a long time ago that they wouldn't do a Feudal Japan game because there was so much Feudal Japan stuff in pop culture that it would feel cliché. They took that back a few years ago because there hadn't been as much for a while... but then by the time they actually got to their own Feudal Japan game there had been a bunch of other games and popular shows in that setting, so it's back to feeling cliché lol
