I owned an Amiga A1200 in the 90s. Good lord I hated getting the Guru Meditation message lol. I also recall going over to friends places and they had varying models of Amiga (one had an A500, another an A600) and we'd copy each others software using XCopy Pro (sorry to the devs at the time!)
It's pretty well emulated with UAE for Windows systems. Or raspberry Pi and Amiberry. You'll need Amiga Forever for the ROMs but that's still cheaper than buying a real Amiga. And LOTs faster.
You'll plug all your various peripherals into the Central Operating Center or COC for short. When that is done sit back and admire just how much stuff is coming out of your COC.
When I was a teenager I didn't even read the instructions or some videos training I just knew how to install. I only read the manual only for programming now a days no more reading just plug n play. Bill Gates at that time was trying to make an OS system that can do all that hard work for itself (windows)although he stole it.
sorry I cant, Cloanto hit me with copyright infringement with my Amiga videos, search for "Getting Started with Your Amiga" Im sure others have posted, just my channel is now watched for such thing, which I think is stupid as I'm only trying to promote the Amiga. never mind, may be one day I will be able to. still have hope that Cloanto will allow such video in the future.
Should you encounter one of those Guru messages please note down the number the Guru shows. You then can ask an Amiga expert about it, who will probably shrug and tell you that the machine crashed.
God compair that mammoth breeze block of a power adapter to the A500 mini that uses just a USB micro cord. I remember that adapter. saying that the original hardware is always the best, just takes up too much space haaa
Don't forget that they kept selling the C64 for YEARS after the Amiga came out, and under Medhi Ali, were working on a slightly enhanced version called the C65. Why David Pleasance wasn't the global CEO after Rattigan, I'll never know... Though Gould shouldn't have fired Rattigan to begin with.
When Star Trek 4 was in the making, the producers wanted an Commodore Amiga in the scene where Scotty takes the Mouse and talked with it. But Commodore didn't want to give them a Computer for free (never heard of good product placement it seems). Instead they've made the producers pay for the machine - only to put them on a 9 month waiting list. In the end a mac was used in the scene. Stupid Commodore >.
@@Yahgiggle yep. the tech team was so underfunded and the custom chips needed to evolve. instead of funding the chip group, they paid millions to a bunch of assholes.
to be honest, the Amiga 500 design looks pretty modern still today, while people's hair and dresses are incredibly outdated!
instablaster...
I don’t think their clothing or hair is outdated :)
She looks excited doesn't she ;)
1988 remember when we got this and played Crazy Cars all night haha
I love that girl from the eighties
This is pure gold ✨. Thanks for posting!
Brings back fond memories of my favourite computer ever.

Questo video ha un valore enorme.A500,l'AMIGA piu' leggendario di tutti !!
I love the breeze block shelves in the background. :-)
I wish i was older at that time and had an Amiga...
Wow, four Atari ST fanboys were here and left a thumb down.
I wonder how the Atari ST unboxing looked like? If there were any.
F*** them xD
It went something like this. Kid Opens box. Realizes it is not the Amiga 500. Wonders why his parents dont love him. Weeps.
lol
I have a500 with exact same box' and original packaging
i have never seen that blue box though
Microcomputers of the 80s just did it better...
Mmmm box fresh! Thanks for sharing this
Ultra FAST 2400 baud modem!!

Red Guru tops blue screen of death any day!
Can you please upload a full VHS recording?

do you have the Amiga 2000 unboxing vid?
wait a minute - they explain setting up the hardware and immediately after it explaining that the computer crashes an has to be rebooted?

A MONITOR ABOVE THE AMIGA 500 THAT DAMAGES THE COMPUTER WHAT BAD EXAMPLE
👍 Right
They were tying to compete image wise with office PCs.
FULL VHS!!! GIVE US!
Was it done with a toaster?.... the editing back then :).
Well, I don't think the Video Toaster was out at this time...

this is the mouse lol
to this day there's still no proper solution to guru meditation...
a scream and/or reach for the bottle.
That power brick is massave
And it only delivered about 40 watts!
Everything was massive but with little power back then :)
I used to rest my feet on it, giving a nice foot-warming at wintertime. lol
Well, it was actually smaller then even a current desktop PC powersupply. Those are just screwed inside the PC case.
+Robert Phoenix A PC power supply can easily deliver 10 times more power. A 40 watt PSU of today would be very small
PPfffftttt my unboxing is better. They didn't even play Batman. :P :D
Shit I gotta read a book to use the computer? No way...
On s'en fou on veut juste jouer sur amiga hihihi
WIMP. Windows, Icons, Mouse and Pointer.
Windows, Icons, MENUs, Pointer
WIMP referred to on-screen components, not hardware peripherals.
Commodore went broke because of the rise in superior PCs and bevause most businesses consideted amigas to be the equivalent of a playstation

Commodore went broke because they invested in PCs and they lost the PC-battle. Amiga was making money but couldn't cover the PC-business losses.
They went broke because New management had no idea how good the Amiga was and instead shifted focus to other areas, like getting laid.

IKR ! I had it after a few C64 yrs :)
you're older now and the machine is way cheaper and the peripherals also. So what are you waiting for.... 😉
