  • In this video I will show you how to mask an image (also known as cropping) in Lightburn for laser engraving.
Masking/cropping enables you to maintain the image quality while adjusting the size to your desired engraving with more control.

Willowtree Woodworking: Makers and Creators of Hand Crafted, Custom Made Furniture, Home Decor, Laser Engraved Products & Services
I have created and hand crafted custom furniture and décor for several years. I began working with my dad when I was a kid and learned the art of patience, attention to detail and craftsmanship. I began teaching my children in their teen years as a way to connect, grow and share my passion for woodworking.
My son has a keen eye for detail and is very methodical in his approach to getting everything just right. My daughter is the complete hippie from another era and love to design and create.
As they are now young adults and out on their own (well almost), I began creating custom furniture and décor as I have been approached many times by people to craft a special item just for them or a loved one.

Hi. Newbie here. Try as I may, I can't seem to get the mask function to work. After tracing a line around my image with the pencil, either using a color or one of the T functions, then selecting all, then right clicking to click on Mask, but the mask function does NOT appear! It's also not highlighted in the Tools menu. What am I doing wrong? How do I get the mask function to work? Please advise, anyone. Thank you so much.

Check that your image and the mask your creating are on different layers. The mask function will not work if everything is on a single layer.

Thanks, but I honestly don't know what you mean. I kinda feel stupid here. Sorry.
I have a photo of my Lightburn screen I wish I wish I could show you. I'm trying everything. I'm so frustrated.
Please, as if I'm a child; How do I know if everything is on a single layer? How exactly to I get it on different layers?
