    This is a great demonstration of how even one of the simplest synths on the market can do all sorts of awesome things when used by a skilled musician. Many people seem to believe that what they need to make good music is better gear... but really the limitations almost all come from us, not the gear. We can learn a lot from your example.

      The reface series is a big success and expertly delivered; but they certainly have their limits and that has nothing to do with the musician. Digital instruments simply aren't like the acoustic variety. Lacking voices and other features, they run off rapidly into limitations that are outside of your control entirely. 90% of music is definitely the gear.

    Good demo :)
    I love LOVE slider-per-function polys with no memory. [CS-60 and Juno-6 in my studio]
    If this had the ribbon and/or mod wheel, EG -> pitch, mixer w/ independent noise, and some LFO shapes...then I couldn't resist it. As is, I look at my alesis micron and think 'hmmmm, when will I ever need battery power'. Not often enough (yet), I suppose.
    I just wish they'd also made a 5-oct version w/ an updated AN1X engine inside it - in addition to this portable runt. AN1x w/ slider-per-function would be on another level(s) of amazing...cheers :)

    Lol that Turkeys talking effect is hilarious. The first clip you did with the traditional instruments effects are amazing. I just decided today to get the Reface CS as my first synth. Will be getting it in a week or so.

    Hi Belle! I wanted to ask about your opinions on whether you think this synth is a good first hardware synth to get? I'm always using software instruments, however, recently, I've been looking for options to get my first hardware synth so I'd greatly appreciate your input as a great musician! Thanks so much!

    • @BelleChenMusic
      @BelleChenMusic  2 года назад +1

      Hi! I found Reface CS to be a really suitable analog modelling synth for me both in studio and live. I find that the tactile layout works great for me. I suppose it really depends on what kind of music you are making and how you prefer to work!

  • @ggodle0728
    @ggodle0728 2 года назад

    Thank you for the nice video! By the way, I have a question.. I am considering to buy this(reface CS), but I want to use it totally as a midi keyboard. Is it as easy as those general midi keyboards? like I just need to connect via usb cable and immediately I can use it as a midi keyboard in my DAW(ableton). Or, do I need to set it up(midi setting?) everytime before I use it as a midi keyboard?

    • @BelleChenMusic
      @BelleChenMusic  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for you comment 🙏 I use Reface as a midi controller when using scoring applications over USB and it works great for me! I use more for live sound and not so much as a controller, but the user guide will have more detail on connecting to a DAW. Happy playing! 🎹🙂
