It does seem the millennium was the end point for Big Break. When 2000 came the audience ratings started to take a dip, along with Jim's Generation Game. The ITV "Popstars" show which launched in 2001 would kill off Big Break and the Generation Game.
Well to be fair the ITV show pop stars was nothing like Pop Idol and X Factor, it was just a documentary on how a pop group was formed but yes after the end of 2001. Tv schedules went down the drain and died. I wish this show along with other gameshows aired on Saturday night along with the national lottery rather than doctor who, strictly, pointless celebrities and the big show.
@@meridian2000 Well Doctor Who has been banished to Sunday nights since 2018 actually. Big Break, Every Second Counts, Full House (used to be hosted by Bob Monkhouse) I think are the three BBC game shows that should return.
@@johnking5174 Well Doctor Who should be banished forever and if I was to become director of BBC Television would be just that, I Would also axe Strictly Come Dancing The Apprentice and MasterChef, But I would bring back Top of the Pops, Live & Kicking and I would also ask the BBC to close down the children's channels and put children's programming back on to BBC One and BBC Two permanently. I'd also bring back Grandstand and ask the BBC to create a new broadcast centre in London like the old Television Centre which thanks to the stupid Mark Thompson it got sold.
@@meridian2000 Strictly Come Dancing is the highest rated entertainment show on British television, topping over 10 million viewers on a Saturday and 9 million on a Sunday. I agree with you on Children's BBC though, the channels should be closed, and brought back to BBC One and BBC Two. I agree that Grandstand should return. Television Centre sale and demolishing five of the eight studios was a DISGRACE!
@@johnking5174 Strictly Come Dancing is the worst entertainment show on British Television, Saturday Night Tv is meant to be for gameshows, The National Lottery, a bit of Drama, Match of the Day and a chat show like Parkinson, not Graham Norton.
