I've had a Muhle R41 for yrs, never once was i inclined to use a feather blade in it.With it's aggressive nature I can use any blade and get a very close shave. I'll save my Feathers for less aggressive razors like the Merkur34c..

Thanks so much for watching! Yeah, you have a solid point here. I've been using the r41 a ton since this video, and you're spot on that any blade in this bad boy can produce a fine shave. Although I had a bad experience with Treet 7 Day blades and had to switch to astra greens. Don't know what that's about. Really the only blade that's given me issues. I also agree that feathers in mild razors is a great mix. Takes it up just a step. Have a great week and thanks for subscribing!

Well done indeed Aaron brilliant shave! I just used the R41 for the first time this evening in the chrome black version also OMG! Has to be the most aggressive razor I have used did a 3 pass probably didn’t need to couple of wee nicks on the neck but just took my time you don’t half feel that blade used the Muhle blade that came with it I’m that used to using my 6s my go to Razor.i also have Cavendish soap and splash it’s a great scent and the splash stays with you for a good bit of the day.cheers and all the best to you 🙂🙌

Thanks so much for watching Michael! Very happy to hear you enjoyed your first experience with the r41! It’s crazy efficient, it’s become one of my favorite razors of all time! I frequently cut a few cuts on the neck when I use it, but that doesn’t bother me. Happy to hear you like cavendish! One of my favorites from PAA! Might get the edp cologne at some point, but they are expensive. Have a great weekend!

The Cavendish sounds great. Love the R41/Feather combo. Really took that down with no problem. Well done. I often use Feather but don't have a R41. We're heading to West Virginia this Friday for a couple days. It'll be nice to get away. Finally found a sitter for my Boston Terrier, Ace. Great shave as always. Like you say, no reason to fear the Feather or an aggressive razor. Just pay attention and take it slow. Once again my man, well done.

I'm not looking forward to having to use CK6 but I get that having multiple bases is a pain but hopefully he will reconsider. The aftershave is spectacular. The scent is perfect and the skin feel is second to none for my face. I know even without trying it that the R41 isn't for me. I'm not into aggressive razors anyway so no big deal. Excellent shave. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Eric! Thanks so much for your continued support and time. It’s very much appreciated. Yeah, cavendish is a great scent I agree. It’s always a safe choice in my book. Yeah from a business perspective I get why he would phase out ck1. Still a bummer but ck6 is good stuff. In my opinion it’s easier to lather than ck1 which is good. I always double his splashes as colognes on days where I don’t shave because of the scent strength. No need for the edt when the splash scents last so long. I’ll tell you right now, I wouldn’t use the r41 as a daily driver. It requires you to go slow and focus a lot. Which i wouldn’t be in the mood for a lot. But im happy I have it in the den for kicks and giggles. It mowes down the hair like no other. Have a great weekend man!

Ah the 41, a great choice for a 10 days growth, I'm not into aggressive and lots of blade exposure razors myself but my beard is not coarse nor wiry, as always YMMV. I don't do well with Feather blades, I can only use Feather blades if I cork them first, the only blade I do that with. Makes sense for PAA (Doug) to consolidate his base to the more popular newer CK-6 formula, reduce the jar size to 4oz and reduce price to a more approachable US$19.95, although I'm not collecting PAA soaps myself, I'm reducing the number of brands I collect so I can use (show off) the ones I have more often during my soap rotation (my collection is still 150+ soaps). Take care Aaron!👍🤠

Hey Lawrie! Thanks so much for your time watching and continued support. Always appreciate you my friend! Yeah I figured it was a great time to review this bad boy since I took a few days off shaving. No surprise it took care of the hair no problem. Yeah I’ll tell you right now, it’s not a tool for everyone. I’m not familiar with corking blades, I’ll have to research that. But a lot of others say they don’t do well with feathers too. I can see why people would want a less aggressive blade. You’re right, it does make sense how Doug would use his new base only and reduce jar size. From a business perspective it makes total sense. Should’ve discussed that more in my video haha. I thought I had lots of soaps, but guys like you and Ben (soap thing) crush me haha. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m looking at those numbers later down the road though. Too many I want to try and not enough room. Take care my friend and hope all is well over there!

So frankly I'm not the biggest razor expert. But I will tell you that if you're okay with spending a little more ($40 range) on a Merkur 34C, you will not regret it. It was my first razor and I still love using it now. It's very forgiving and feels effortless to shave with. But at the same time feels really comfortable. I know many others who have also started with it and still love it now. Another razor that is similar in design and price is the Edwin Jagger de86/89 (handle is the only difference). So, I want you suggestion: if I want something more aggressive than my Muhle R89 is (it is too mild for my beard), would you recommend the R41? Or should I rather look for something slightly milder? HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Do any Pucks or bar Soaps out there? You can mix and match old Soaps? to fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) Cut the bar soap up on a paper plate, pour the soap, shavings and chunks from your plate into a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, microwave your soap and cups or mugs? put your paper plate under your cup in case it bubbles out of your cup? for a minute or so? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. (You can use any Hard Soaps You like??) Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money in these Inflationary Times. Your mileage may vary? Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year
