    I don’t understand why JYP treated them so badly, like what did they gain from that?? They invested money and resources into the group just to leave them hanging?? They probably realized that fan support would continue to make them money even without the company working for it, but I just don’t understand how they from the companies standpoint could miss out on the opportunity to make even more money with just a little bit more effort..

    • @Shanana529
      @Shanana529 3 года назад +55

      I saw other opinions to this and one reason could be because Jyp/Jype invested what they wanted to and the results weren't growing as big as they wanted so they let them go. Do the minimum and let the fans do the rest and invest in another group. Also the members were so independently popular and creative they didn't want to boost them anymore cause they know they will leave when the contract is done. And they probably thought some offers they got didn't match well with the image they wanted for the group. I'm sure they didn't want to promote them solo just for them to become huge and leave Jype. All their idol actors that got big left Jype and I'm sure that's why they're salty and don't want to accept acting roles just for one to get super popular. They're all capable in producing their own albums so I'm sure Jype didn't want to spend money on promoting/producing their solos just for them to leave the company and to then continue their career without Jype

    • @Lv-sg4zp
      @Lv-sg4zp 3 года назад +50

      @@Shanana529 well, apparently it backfired. Another thing that probablly added to this outcome was the creative fredoom within the group itself, I mean I've seen clips of JYP rejecting JB's songs because they don't have the "JYP sound" or wathever and it seems like he used to do that all the time, but even when GOT7 was in their early years they never had that sound? I feel like they've always been different from that, or am I missing something? Why did JYP have that sound obssession all of a sudden? I feel like they always did their own thing and JYP suddenly just went like "nope, I don't like it" (I'm not bashing him btw, I'm just genuinely curious)

    I think, overall, Got7 has really had a solid run as a group. This video definitely reminded me how active they were in the first two years, and how many side projects they've done outside of performing as a group. Honestly, I wish more groups would have acted as they did when it came to leaving their company; i.e. leaving the company on their terms, being in agreement with it, and receiving the rights to their group name so that they can promote together again even if it's not on a regular basis. They likely knew that resigning with the company wouldn't be in their best interest, both individually and as a group, and it seems like all of them have come into their own artistry and are ready to dive deeper into it. It's true that JYPE could have done more for them, but good on them for recognizing that and taking advantage of the opportunities they have available to them outside of the label now rather than later.

    i have been an ahgase since their debut and i'm so glad that i stanned them. they are an amazing group and their music was much more captivating to me than any other group (not saying other groups are bad, i enjoy most but got7 had my heart). in their early years got7 was actually receiving promotions from the company, i remember their first world tour announcement we as fans had MONTHS to prepare for the ticket sales. i remember the keep spinning world tour the company gave us less than two weeks to prepare for it, no hi-touch or photo op seats (at least for the US). for the eclipse comeback the teaser didn't even have the release date in it.
    aside from that it definitely felt like JYP had some sort of grudge against the boys. i can't say exactly what it was because i don't know them personally but the way he rejected jaebeom's stuff constantly and refusal to promote the group as a whole felt like he was making it a competition. i don't think it was "tough love" at all. let's also not forget how when mark needed utensils to eat food on a live the staff THREW /used/ chopsticks at him, and he ultimately just ate with his hands instead. i remember got7 also had to film a vlive inside a closet because the staff was being overbearing and jackson even told the staff to get out so they could film the vlive.
    when the news came out they were not renewing i legit cried. not because i was sad but because i was so happy for them to finally get out of that hellhole of a company. it was a bittersweet feeling and i'm so glad that the boys are doing amazing today.

    I'm glad that all of the 7 members decided to leave JYPe at the same time because there's no reason to stay back at a company where they don't have music-creative freedom and media exposures. #GOT7FOREVER

    GOT7 had soooo much potential internationally, especially with 3 non-korean members (which impacts language, fanbase, and military obligations) and a minimum of 3 who were fluent in english. It makes me so sad that jyp didn't continue to push for them in the later years :( i'll always support these boys!

    Thanks for this very detailed video. JYPE recently revealed Got7 has a bigger cut of their profits than JYPE, which partially explains the lack of promotion. But still, they could have still made more money with Got7, so it just seems spiteful to cap their albums (and never reprint them), ignore offers to appear on shows, and not pay for ads. Also, JYPE says their new contract policy ensures newer groups (they named NiziU as example) will have a smaller cut compared to the company. Yikes.

    That moment when she called jinyoung junior: 👁️👄👁️
    Also, just in case it was unclear GOT7 is *not* disbanding. They have rights to the name and make music on their own now. They're newest song is named Encore!

    Look how new labels promote GOT7 individually now. This is called real promotion NOT just had a comback 2 weeks, CG MV and that's it.
    When I heard that GOT7 would leave JYPE from dispatch, I was so happy and I knew it's true. Dispatch never did scandal news for GOT7 but they were the 1st to release this news! I knew it! Look like GOT7 have good and close relationship with Dispatch somehow lol

    Great Video but there was one thing that made feel like eh, which was the fact you called Jinyoung "junior" when the stage name has changed years ago, he changed his stage name because he didn't like that name and he was no longer a rookie at the time, that's why you would see videos of him and Jackson telling us (ahgases) to not call Jinyoung "junior" any more, you did nothing wrong I just wanted to point this out so the same mistake won't happen again. Thank you for understanding me and have a great rest of your day :D

    This pisses me off because seeing GOT7's potential they could have been as big or on the same level as BTS when it comes to worldwide popularity and success. Think about it, they have three international members and four English-speaking members. Not to mention they have likable personalities. JYP Entertainment could have used that as an advantage but no! JYP wasn't doing their job and promoting them as much like they should have! I am extremely happy that GOT7 left JYP Entertainment! JYP didn't deserve GOT7!

    Am I the only one who thinks jyp is kinda creepy... And idk he seems like a good business men, but when you do more research he's actually not that good. I feel like he is had certain people/members he pushes forward the most and others he just leaves behind. And in the history of jype were so many iconic groups! 2pm, wonder girls, I mean so many!! And they all could have been even bigger like big bang... But it didn't happen :(. I loved GOT7 and I'm glad they left. But I also worry about the other groups. Day6 is still so underrated, members overworked, Jamie who also went somewhere else, lol sumni also gone. Idk tbh why jyp promotes his own songs better than the onces of his groups aaaa

    • @NippyBooks
      @NippyBooks 3 года назад +2

      He really is a good business man and I think in terms of mental health education (also sex education lol) he's on the right way to let people sit out of activities when they just aren't mentally up for it. It's good that he takes care of them that way. It's also good that he provides good food for them. The whole organic food talk might have become a joke in the fandoms of his artists, but I think it's really good that everyone in this company can get healthy food. (I mean there are so many groups that always tell how little they got to eat during trainee years because they don't have money...)
      The idea to divide his company into divisions, where one team has specific artists they work for, was also a genius idea...you just need a team that works WITH the artist and not against it. Like Division 2 had GOT7 and JYP to manage...and since GOT7 became a part of it, promotions went down. Before the divisions the group had so many activities and promotions lasted longer but suddenly promotions only lasted up to two weeks, the promotions before the albums dropped were a total shit show - so fans had to do their job - and variety shows as a group? maybe 1, since promotions only lasted for 2 weeks, no time to book other shows...and no variety shows, no new fans....Division 2 can burn down....

    If the humor is to belittle someone or humiliate them yes it’s bullying as a boss it’s not professional and disrespectful and this can cause a lot of physiological affect when your own boss doesn’t respect you and your friends. He has more control and influence in the company so yeah I’m glad they left. Every company has problems some choose to fix it and some don’t.

    J.Y Park should understand that literally no one cares about his music or himself, all we care is his artists. Do you realize how all of his music includes some featured artists? That is because he himself kind of knows no one cares about him so he is using those artists for attention. When We Disco featured Sunmi, Fever featured Bibi, Who's Your Mama featured Jessi. I hope he has the opportunity to read this comment because he needs to understand no one cares about him or his music.

    Not a doubt goes in my mind that when only jyp got involved or had the title song in their album that's when it got promoted. GOT7 became too expensive to have around, they were making more money than jyp himself. It was all about jealousy and mistreatment to downplay their success. The guys may be respectful about it but it was all in play from all sides of the company.
