I think MJX has a better feel for the mini market. Traxxas got lax, living on the Xmax reputation. I got myself a MJX Hypergo 16208. Even thier 16th scale mini takes 3s, and it does so with gusto! Had to put it on my DumboRC radio, and receiver with gyro to make it controllable though. Great comparison video, without trashing anyone. Totally with you on Traxxas business practices. Keep up the good content. And yes, we weren’t well off growing up, that’s why at 70, I’m making up for lost time. Lol

Unbelievable value with MJX. i got the 16208 for $70, which is less than the cost of the diff upgrades id need for the mini maxx. the MJX takes 3s with no upgrades needed!

This is a GREAT video! I like the models you chose to compare, just to show the variety. And your Mandalorian Pez dispenser pointer was a nice touch. 😂 I definitely have to lean more towards the DeeRC/Hyper Go. The performance, strength, and affordability absolutely blow the T-word out of the water, imo.

It used to be that competitors would wait for Traxxas to release a vehicle and then create a version of their own. The tides have changed, and now it seems Traxxas is the one catching up with the trend.

I'm the same, I don't support traxxas due to their past history.
But, looking at these two, traxxas loses fairly handily. But, I would have to look into replacement parts to make sure I could replace at least the steering servo or any of the suspension/driveline parts. This is a lesson that bit me on a $70 crawler (sale price). The steering servo went out, so now I have a nice static model. But, it was fun while it lasted.
I certainly prefer supporting other nation's manufacturing capability, but sometimes you just want something cheap and fun. But, I would be surprised if that traxxas would exist without Chinese manufacturing.

It's my only Traxxas (like you said "modern" cause I've had Rustlers and Sledgehammers and Bandits way back when) I'm not really into bashing either, but when I feel like that, I go for the Mad Van VE. @chriszak3282 2 дня назад +1

Just trying to think what is good about the mini max, so far I found everything bad, I think the good is that it's a mini that can run in grass and other stuff without overheating cause of the 1/10 system, so just keep running it. I think it is more of a stunt truck for more confined areas, or just taking a small ramp to the park or backyard and landing some doubles. A cheap 3s hw system would be more than enough for it, not for speed but to have the power to flip it around. Also heavier shock oil and next spring up so it ain't bouncing off its belly and flipping after landing, definitely want the center diff too. The front and rear tires are a different softness which is a recipe for disaster at high speed since they expand at different rates so either use the harder compound for all four or the softer, pick one, I'd go softer, this will cost some but it will be quite different than anything else.

But I'll tell ya, I'm not a Traxxas fan boy by any stretch, and I'd say I really enjoyed it. 4 packs and no less than 50 backflips later, and it was still going strong. Honestly, I think I preferred the Mini Maxx. It's overpriced, but I just liked the way it handled a bit better. But here again, Traxxas wasn't fully forthcoming with this release. They branded it as 1/16 scale, and it's more like a 1/12th. So this comparison (while valid) isn't exactly comparing apples to apples. I need to try a 1/12 version of the MJX to have a true comparison.
If you watch my testing video of the Mini Maxx, you'll get an honest interpretation of how I like to drive my RC's. I don't care about 60 mph speeds, it's too fast for most RC's IMO. I'm perfectly happy at 30 mph, landing plush landings, and having fun with my RC environment.

One you can run 3s all day long, the other advertises 3s with 50 mph+ speeds and it is a lie. People are far, far easier on Traxxas than they are the Chinese companies.

One more thing, your channel was built by Tamiya enthusiasts, now if you want to increase your notoriety, start reviewing 2s/3s Arrma bashers. They are the fastest most affordable performance 2S to 3S RC's on the market. Or even Serpent products, there are a lot of RC's in the 200.00 to 350.00 dollar range that are worthy and provide a huge fun factor. The Mini maxx with 3s and other parts to keep it running is nearly 500.00 dollars USD!

I appreciate the thoughtful comment, my man! My goal is to grow this channel into something that can provide for my family, so I've broadened the spectrum of RC's we review here.
Plus, I just love RC and want to experience what's out there. The hobby has exploded in the last 20 years, and there's a lot of great stuff available.
I love Arrma, I'm going to be featuring a lot of their stuff on the channel in the future. :)

Then begin ssd's reviewing them sucka lol. Start with the 2s to 3s bashers. Traxxas will get you but so far with views, plus their freebies will still be mediocre and expensive, Horizon is a industry leader for a reason. The other companies wont send you shit if you promote traxxas.

@spenn2007 I've got a good chunk of Arrma, Rlaarlo and others in the bag already. Way more to come, my dude! 😁🍻
Traxxas has some stuff coming out that I'm kinda interested in. The mini Maxx was one of them. It's over and done with now, and it's time to focus on what's next! Giddy up!!! 😂🍻😁😎

They’re all from China whether you order it directly from China or you buy it from Arma or Traxxas it’s still made in China. What does it matter? A lot of these direct from China companies are putting out better products at a cheaper rate time for the big companies to step up

Traxxas is too outdated and need to be reworked badly . Starting with the price , then they should address their cars coming out the box with standard parts and not a bunch of plastic .

    • @poorboysrc
      @poorboysrc  2 дня назад +1

The price point could use a little adjustment, no doubt about it. I don't mind some of the plastic, but the premium $$$ stings the wallet.

No Traxxas products belong on any channel thats labeled as "Poor boys RC". This channel is for folks who refuse to be hosed by companies like Traxxas to enjoy the hobby. Stick to your roots bruh... If you want to spend a bit more money on speed/bashing, go with Horizon, Hobao, HPI, Team Associated (MT10 only), or even Rlarrlo.
