I understand that KD has qualms with the organizations he's played with and I've even tried to rationalize some of it in his defense, but when does he realize that he's the leader of this particular Nets team? You're supposed to be the franchise player and face of the team, but you're running away from it because you don't want the blame when things go wrong which is part of being the best player and leader of a team. Throwing your teammates under the bus like that and saying that you seemed a trade last summer because you would be blamed if the team played bad is the energy of a #2 option and not a #1 option.

  • @KB-qk1ic
    @KB-qk1ic 2 года назад +61

Wait, didn't KD demand the nets sign DeAndre Jordan, limiting minutes that should have gone to Jarrett Allen? Only for Allen and Caris Levert to be traded to get Harden, who KD wanted?
Wasnt Spencer Dinwiddie part of a huge trade that saw players like Kyle Kuzma, KCP, Montrez Harrell, Russell Westbrook get moved and the only thing the nets got out of it was a 2nd round pick and a player I've never heard of so they can keep paying the players on the roster?
Didn't they go get more shooters like Patty Mills and skilled bigs like Aldridge and Blake who wouldn't clog the paint and could pass and stretch the floor?
Didn't he choose to pair up with the same player that had spent the prior 4 seasons convincing everybody that he was toxic to a locker room?
If KD's legacy is hurt by what happens in Brooklyn it's his own fault

KD ruined an up and coming team which had been to the playoffs the year before he joined. Because of him and Kyrie, key players on that team, all young up coming stars, were let go. Their coach Kenny Atkinson was let go. He gave the reasons why he left OKC but he had what he said he was looking for in GS. That lasted two years and he left after his third year to join forces with the head case flat earther Kyrie. Bad decision. In fact, making bad career decisions is now KD's legacy.

  • @supratrd900

Durant needs to play in an offense like the triangle offense. MJ and Kobe were both iso heavy player but under the triangle they both won 6 and 5 chips respectfully. Should of never left OKC or even Golden State. OKC had something going for them despite blowing the 3-1 lead. He could've possibly play with Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Russ before his downfall, and Steven Adams.
With GS, there was less pressure on him as he wasn't the #1 option. If he doesn't win in Brooklyn, his career will forever be a great player who hop on a successful team to win. If Durant is complaining about this Nets roster, imagine him in Kobe's shoe in 06 with Smush, Walton, Kwame, Odom, and Mihm. Only difference was Kobe will this team into the playoffs in a tough Western conference against the Suns but blew a 3-1 lead, only difference he didn't join Phoenix like KD joining the Warriors.
Nothing can make KD happy, he was on a team with potential had he stay in OKC, On a championship team with Golden State and wasn't happy. Now he's on a dysfunctional organization he chose with Kyrie's (doing some side quest) future in jeopardy with the team and Simmons being a wimp (you get pay to put the ball in the net) and a potential bust.

It's unfortunate he remains to be the #2 in the league, always in the shadow of who we all know is #1 (The "King" himself.) The man still remains my MVP, my favorite player to still play in the league. He had a chance to make a legacy in OKC. That didn't pan out. Went to the best team in league, the Golden State Warriors; had it made, but he left what could've been a dynasty and known as the greatest championship team of all-time. As a free agent, he decides the Nets, coming off a season with D-Lo, Caris, Jarrett, and company as a team who were possibly soon-to-be playoff contenders, was where he wanted to create a new path to greatness, and resulted in blowing up the former team since Kyrie was on his way as well. Three years after all of these events, he's in a team with Seth, Joe, Kyrie, and a ever-growing Nic Claxton, with Ben Simmons, replaced the coach that transformed the Nets team with Steve Nash of all coaches ( and I thought you couldn't worse than Jason Kidd and Derrick Fisher), and is in a situation where all the plans collapsed due to the pandemic, Kyrie's intentional absence, and playing in a dysfunctional organization from the front office to the coaching. I say all this to say, his deteriorating legacy happening in the late end of his career is his own doing from his impulsive decisions and not knowing what could've transpired in teams he arguably left too soon.

KD has spent his entire career looking around the roster trying to find the problem. He needs to look in the mirror.
He is an all time scorer, but look at all the winningest players, you need to have that *and* be a leader of men. KD is probably one of the least motivational teammates I've ever seen. You're supposed to put the team on your back - that's your job - you don't cry about it afterwards.

Nets fan here. I don’t think kd saying what he said about his teammates was him trying to say they were trash. He even lowkey confirmed it. He was saying that his teammates that he on the court with now not supposed to be in this situation. We nets fans was praying for nash to go cause there was so many problems, from playing kd and Kai 40 mins a night to not even having rotations correct. Kd has praised vaughn and I just honestly hope vaughn continues to go in a positive trend. I just hope he stop playing cam Seth and patty all at once. The heat on Ben Simmons is lowkey typical at this point cause everyone ain’t even give the man time and I’ve been hoping ben would turn it around cause game by game he shows signs and he just showed his biggest sign. To say Ben don’t got skill is crazy at that, and he is the key to this team and I still have faith in him. Claxton has gotten better but he’s definitely a backup center rn and I wish he wasn’t so lazy last season cause he could’ve been much bigger than he is now. Harris and Seth still getting back to normal but I got more faith in Seth than joe cause Joe be too on and off. Yuta watanabe has been a godsend off the bench I knew he would be great for us. Kyrie we know is always going to cause problems but when he was playing he was having the best defensive start he has ever had and I just hope he can continue that tomorrow. Tj warren is still not here and I know it’ll take time for him to get to where he used to be. Vaughn being a communicator and talking to his coaches has helped us greatly and trying to push us in the right direction. I’m honestly glad all this stuff is happening early instead of in the middle of the season man. We not even 20 games in and there is time to get on the right track. Idk if we can make a trade but I’d like for us to get Kuzma or pj Washington and a big man.

KD killed his own legacy it's shitty to see, If he stayed on OKC and won championships he could have been a god top 3 all time, if he stayed on the warriors he would have been considered one of the best in caliber but outside the top 8 for sure. With his Brooklyn years he is top 15 all time ( Steph Curry definitely ahead of him at this point), if he forces a trade from Brooklyn too and doesn't win a championship after that... he will be lucky to be considered top 20 especially with the talent we are seeing now in the League. Luka, Jokic, and Giannis will catch up with him if he is not careful. Same deal if he stays in Brooklyn and never wins. If KD never wins a championship again he will be forever relegated to top 20 all time which is a failure on his part considering his potential. Honestly KD's best shot is jump to Knicks or Celtics and try to ingratiate himself into that legacy, winning a championship there would boost his prestige way more than a championship for the Nets

I don’t think KD going to Brooklyn killed his legacy. “Allowing” not necessarily “choosing” who came with him to Brooklyn killed his legacy. Kyrie and especially Deandre Jordan did so. There were so many guys he could’ve had either through free agency or trades that they could’ve gotten that would’ve bettered the roster, just as much a Kyrie did and more. The Covid situation is tricky because it really isn’t a straightforward issue to where you can justifiably blame someone, instead to just be up in arms and in huge disappointment. There is also the organisation problem to look at as well with their huge disfunction. But, this is the era of player empowerment or better known as entitlement. So player controversies overshadow any organisational disfunction we saw.

KD seems to misunderstand, for one having a top heavy roster is what happens when you build around 2+ superstars, there is just not a way to pay those stars the money they are meant to get and still be able to bring in a super talented bench/other starters. Second, some of the issues with the make of the Nets is HIS fault, now I won’t blame him for every move but we do know that he and Kyrie pushed for DeAndrea Jordan instead of Jarrett Allen and look at how that failed and we know he pushed for Harden and again look at how that ended up. Overall KD continues to show that he has a huge ego (just from how often he argues with randos on Twitter and the number of times he blames everything on others and doesn’t take responsibility for at least some of why things went wrong)and is unable to accept when some of the way things went wrong might be his fault and I dunno maybe lay off trying to be like LeBron in trying to get the front office to get the players you want?

Can we step back? This was never going to work. New owners never make good decisions. Cuban(Nash), Prokhorov(KG/Pierce), Ranadive(Cousins, Hield) to name a few.
KD doomed himself when he took what Lebron did in Miami on a superficial level. Riley won as a player, coach and exec BEFORE he got there. They also chose polar opposites in teammates - among the most mature, intelligent and thoughtful players in Wade vs what we've seen as an impulsive, immature and absent Kyrie. Bosh was still in his prime, DJ was decidedly not.
While he didn't have great choices on teams in '19 (NYK didn't even offer him the max), he's not the same man 'Bron is. Not in strategy, not in leadership and not in style of play.
KD is a businessman. Lebron is a business, man.
