Very well put-together documentary 👏 ! I enjoyed it immensely ! 😊 🏉 A note : between 2001 and 2019, Michigan won two contests - the 2003 game along with the one mentioned in 2011. 🏉 In retrospect, the 2006 matchup is probably more noteworthy in that Schembechler passed away the night before the game. The actual game was, arguably, a made-for-tv hype contest - #1 v #2 which, yes, did provide a close, competitive, entertaining affair. Yet OSU then gets blown out by Florida in the nat'l title game and UM is routed by USC in the Rose Bowl. So ... maybe not a real matchup between the two best teams; more simply, the last two regular season undefeated schools. 🤔 🏈
Both Urban and Jim were born in Toledo.. Jim was a freshman quarterback at Clay high school which is in a suburb called Oregon. Which oddly enough is home to the very first Marcos pizza shop 😀

And now we have Oregon trying to self proclaim themselves OSU and Michigan's rival 😂. As if naming themselves "That Team Out West" has any meaning compared to Michigan earning their nickname "TTUN" because of our hatred toward them
I wouldn't minimize that too much! They got a lot of NIL money there, Coach Lanning looks like a good one. They've already proven to be a force winning the Big Ten in year one and I don't anticipate them slowing down much soon. Heck, they might be the National Champions this year...
Tressell didn't "promise" to beat Michigan in his speech at the basketball game. He hedged his bets. He said that people would "be proud" of their team next year in Ann Arbor. Not the same thing. On the other hand, Jim Harbaugh flat out guaranteed a victory over OSU in Columbus in 1986 the week before the game and made good on his guarantee.

But Ohio state fans will say we live in the past 😂 Took Ohio State 100 years to go 17-2 when Michigan had already dominated multiple decades and two decades between 1900 and 2000 going 14-6 .. built a lead so big that 17-2 couldn’t make a comeback .. Michigan 61-51-6 … leader and best . 〽️ Ohio State will never lead .
Ohio didn't fully use the older map and the original ordinance to draw the northern border. If we did the northern border would end in the southeastern corner of Wayne County in present day Michigan. More than half the area that could have been claimed by Ohio was later undisputed Michigan land even during the Toledo War itself. The real prize was the Maumee Bay, which Toledo sits on the coast of, today.

His own players (more than two dozen separate accounts from former players) and an opposing player on national television. Man was a legendary coach but my lord he had some incredibly deep seeded hate in him to the point of becoming physically violent with people.
@Hardtimesflushthechumpsdude the sheer number of times he would assault his own players as well as his explosive and violent behavior towards people off the field went way over the line to chalk it up to a generational difference. He probably suffered from a psychological disorder as no other coach at the time had this consistent pattern of violent behavior towards his players and visible lack of impulse control than Woody. Absolute legend of a coach though.
It’s no where close to the iron bowl, Georgia Florida, or the old Miami rivalries though. My measurement is based on how many personal fouls get called and if the games had any meaning (the winner of Georgia Florida has gone to the SEC championship like 9 out of the last 10 seasons, there was a time the winner of the iron bowl went to the national title like 5 years in a row)
Michigan vs The Ohio State University is not a rivalry, its a continuation of the Toledo War conflict from 1835. The Game isn't just some players going out to play a game of Football, it signifies the hate that has enveloped between the two states cultures. The game will end entire careers depending on who wins and loses. This is not a rivalry, its State of War.

I am from England and I love college football and the rivalries and all the myths and history. It’s brutal and full of great stories and characters. My dream is to go to Ann arbor and Tuscaloosa for the tailgates and watch the games.
I’m so glad you mentioned the Toledo war… I did a research paper on it in high school years ago. I’m pretty sure there were fatalities on both sides. I grew up in Michigan age 3-24, 45 minutes just south of Ann Arbor. The hatred for Ohio State was strong. I could only find a job out of college in Toledo Ohio after college in 2010. I’ve since moved to the other state that hates Ohio the second most… South Carolina. I felt truly at home right away as a result. 😅
The toledo war had zero fatalities.
why tf does south carolina hate ohio state

Great video and channel!
Very well put-together documentary 👏 ! I enjoyed it immensely ! 😊 🏉
A note : between 2001 and 2019, Michigan won two contests - the 2003 game along with the one mentioned in 2011. 🏉
In retrospect, the 2006 matchup is probably more noteworthy in that Schembechler passed away the night before the game. 🤔 🏈
As someone who lived on the border of ohio to Michigan (I’m a Michigan fan) This isn’t just a rivalry it’s a way of life
Both Urban and Jim were born in Toledo.. Jim was a freshman quarterback at Clay high school which is in a suburb called Oregon. Which oddly enough is home to the very first Marcos pizza shop 😀
I recognize that 68 game. Made by a friend. Of course the radio broadcast is longer than a coaches film he'd replay almost every play in slowmo to give you something to looks at while still keeping mostly intact the radio broadcast. It takes somebody like 40 hrs to make such, all for the love of college football.
The Game in 2006 ended with Ohio State winning by a score of 42-39. After the game the pick 4 numbers from the Ohio Lottery was 4,2,3,9. I always thought that was a hell of a coincidence.
My dad got pinned to the wall in Ann Arbor by a Michigan fan in the 80s. Nasty fans. I do think it’s great though that Woody and Bo became friends at the end of Woodys life. They needed each other
Sorry bro on behalf of M. We don't do that. I saw a guy online get pushed and shoved by an OSU guy

You're right! When i went to Michigan my dad told me not to go to an away game in Columbus.

I’m pretty sure it still is. I would never go to a game in Columbus. They’re on a different level of sick. When you want to hurt a Michigan fan or damage their property that’s beyond sports. That’s criminal.
@@Adam-vs2inYea, that’s horse shit. You’ve obviously never been to a game here and it shows through your ignorance. The difference between the OSU-Michigan rivalry is it pitts arguably the greatest two programs in history. Certainly among the five blue bloods of college football. I give Alabama it’s due, but Auburn is not even close.
It does have higher T V ratings, yes it does. Iron Bowl is Prime Time.Got to be a reason why, right? But neither game even comes close to the draw Army Navy does. my fav rivaly growing up was Miami/ND, then it was Miami/FSU, then UF/FSU. There was real passion and hatred of the other team. Money and conference changes have destroyed most rivalrys to where only a few still exist. I dont recognize the college fb I grew up with, the second or third weekend kicked off the season with UM/ND with some great games.
OSU actually went 6-6 in 1999. They went 8-4 in 2000, Cooper’s last season.
I’m from Ohio, but I’m a Notre Dame fan so I watch the game from a neutral perspective. This rivalry is truly something special, and as someone who announces for my D3 school (Baldwin Wallace where Jim Tressel played), I dream of calling a game with half the significance of this rivalry

Tressell didn't "promise" to beat Michigan in his speech at the basketball game. He hedged his bets. He said that people would "be proud" of their team next year in Ann Arbor. Not the same thing.

Woody used to punch camera men and players. He would be in jail today for that.
