Nice, as an added bonus you get free hail protection for your patio…

Great video! I didn't realize that you could get that much wattage on a cloudy day! I can't wait to see the next one!

That’s going to be one nice setup when you get done. 👍🏻

Looking good! I'm working on installing 3 x 100W solar panels on my teardrop trailer also.

Nerding out with Brian. Looks like a good set up for the shop.

I installed 4) 100 watt panels on my detached garage and tied into a solar controller with 3) 100AH batteries that power a 5000 watt 120 volt inverter. Works well, use it to power outdoor refrigerator and deep freezer.

Very cool stuff. :) It's always funny when people ask if you can power their (insert insanely power-hungry device here) with a couple of solar panels. The logistics of what it takes to power the typical American household with solar is no joke!

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing the follow up videos. Nice idea of using the pergola, allowing good air flow and cooling. I have 3 x 100 watt panels on a DIY square drop and I have no problems keeping my 150 ah battery charged.

Solar is fun. Like to see what the output is on a nice day. Great Video!

Pretty cool. I’ve been wanting to do some similar, power something small like a chest freezer and lawn equipment/a nice backup.

Nice! We put about 3000 W on our previous house in Jan 2009 on a special solar offer from our utility. Even after 15 years, we could get 2500 to 2700 watts on a sunny summer day. We basically had no utility costs (other than taxes and fees - about $20 per month) from April through November - even in rainy Oregon! Our electricity usage went from about 6000 kWh per year to less than 2000 kWh. In Texas, this should be a no-brainer - especially if you can get government tax credits (we got both state and federal credits which knocked about $10K off a $20K system). Then the Utility gave us a $5000 credit, so we had less than $5K in the system.

Those panels are a beast, they should do well for you in full sun. Nice project looking forward to the additions.

Next time push a dowel through the center of the wire to uncoil them. It keeps the wire from getting tangled.

Very cool, but I would only do this in desert states, because I am too scared of all of the hail we now get.

Insurance companies are canceling some services to their customers with a roof mount. I would check with them first before you do decide to mount them on your home.
I’m planning to mount on my storage shed. Or a ground system.

I wasn’t aware of that. I do t think I’d ever permenantly mount panels on the roof. Imagine the hassle when/if you have to replace your roof

Hey Brian! Looks like a successful project. I believe that's going to help you alot going forward. I was just wondering, I don't know much about solar systems. But I was wondering if there is a booster of some kind that would increase the wattage you can get from the panels?

Way to get Tara to rub on your butt during the install. LOL. If you angle the panels, you might have to separate them a little more because the first panel may cast a shadow on the second one
