Why do I watch these so much?
0:54 Europe and Australia got the 2nd gen R32 with MT, however the R36 Passat was strictly DSG only.
Got a friend with Mk5 R32 I've driven it a few times and i gotta admit it gets down for what it is haha
I have a 350,000km (217,000mi) Mk4 LPG converted...guys, the car is still running solid, apart from the ABS switching itself off every now and then. Great daily and great fun, bought it 5 years ago for less than the equivalent of 2000 dollars. What a car!
Mk4 and mk5 are r32’s mk6 and up are golf r’s. Not to mention the “v6” in the r32 is a vr6 just like the previous gens, just like the 3.6 that comes in the Passats, cc’s, and atlas’s. Vw has only offered one other v6 from my knowledge and it was the 2.8l found in the b5 Passats.
The vr6 that comes in the R32s are both 3.2l vr6, only the newer cars in the line up get the 3.6 like the vans and such, and basically all the other cars in vws lineups in the mk3 and mk4 gens like golf, jetta, passat, etc got the 2.8 vr6 either a 12v or a 24v format

VW Community is generally great over time...the clout chaser eventually move to audi or BMW, the younger ricers stay in it and kind of destroy the backlog of cars and used parts, but the enthusiasts stay in it for the long haul compared to other manufacturers. Some of the most interesting cars at shows are older VWs.
it also helps that VW styling tends to stand out better over time. In some cases, they are poorly received, but the look requires 5-10 years before they are appreciated or come back into fashion.

IMO the mk7 golf R is the good buy lately, slides under the hype radar and plenty of them were manuals. You guys should delve into the Audi stuff with the 3.0T, they can make big power. My 09 A6 is a total shitbox with 400hp, it’s hilarious.

Some mk4's smell like crayons, some don't? My wagon never did. Pretty sure I read somewhere it's from the carpet adhesive in early cars, but I've also read it was from wax used as protection during shipping.

Second gen R32s are Mk5s. always preferred the mk5 looks with the fat ass. also available as 6 speed manual in here in europe.

Your almost there. Any vw with an 07k drivetrain is better. Makes more power, sounds better, reliable. The Only vr6 vws that are interesting are the European only r32 passat, Corrado, and the US passat GT.......

So many VWs are resprayed (especially MK4s) because while a lot of the car is quality, the paint is not. Notoriously bad longevity on the clear coat.
