I'm 67 too. Happy Whenever, enjoy. I'd been watching and listening to the Beatles since '62 in England. We followed them to North America in April '64, settling in Toronto. The Beatles brained us all. So influential, so much great music followed, so much came before. 😊❤
This band is the GOAT! They were popular from late 1963 and broke up in 1970. They had 21 Number 1 hits, and 34 more songs reached the Top 10 on the charts, and get this…71 more reached the Top 40 on the charts in constant radio rotation. The BeeGees were inspired by The Beatles! It’s the reason they started performing! And really, hundreds of bands were inspired by the Beatles coming on the scene in 1963. They changed music as we know it, and they created the first music video, they created Progressive rock, and the first Metal rock music, the first Punk rock music. They were hugely creative. All 4 members of this band could sing lead. 3 out of 4 were songwriters, and the 4th became a songwriter, too! So every song is different. Every album they recorded was better than the last. They recorded 14 albums and also did several feature films. All 4 went on to have very successful solo careers after the Beatles broke up. And they were offered MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to get back together, for just one concert…and then for just one song…PLEASE! Unfortunately, John Lennon who sang lead on this song was shot and killed by a deranged fan outside his New York City apartment in 1980. The entire WORLD was in mourning…it was a tragic loss! John had put this band together when they were all teens. The footage that you saw was the last live concert they ever did! They had their own recording label, called Apple Corps In London. They performed this concert on the rooftop of their studio! It literally stopped traffic on the street! 2 of the Beatles have passed on…John and George. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are in their 80’s and still recording and touring. They have both been knighted by Queen Elizabeth. And they just put out the Beatles very last song that all 4 worked on with a music video, called Now and Then. It hit the charts….no surprise!
Late 1963 in America, but they were huge in Europe before that. I was an American teenager, living in Scotland in early 1962 and they were taking Europe by storm. I was able to bring their first two record albums home with me when we moved back to the US.
So many other bands as well. Nirvana, Genesis, ELO, really every band after them. Even the Rolling Stones asked for, and were given, tunes John & Paul wrote.
Once you start with the Beatles, you can go down one hell of a rabbit hole. You can listen to 50 of their songs, and the 51st one will still surprise you.
And with being the first song you've ever heard by The Beatles, you still have no idea of their music. The width and breadth of their musical range is enormous. If you keep going you will hear many, many songs that hardly even sound like the same band you heard doing "Don't Let Me Down." That's how diverse they were.
You know what, this is also the reaction when you play one of their amazing songs well, in front of people - these are the faces you see - smiling. Usually no talking - they really want to hear the song. A pleasure to watch, my friends! :)
Awesome reaction! The Beatles are much more than some great, influential band from the past. To this very day, The Beatles are the biggest selling music artist of all time, and nobody else even comes close (Do a quick google search and you'll see what I'm taking about). They have the most #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (with 20 #1 hits) and 35 overall top 10 hits, with their last song, "Now and Then" (which was just released 4 months ago on November 2, 2023) debuting at #7 on the billboard Hot 100, and peaking at #1 on the UK Spotify charts, knocking Taylor Swift down to the #2 position . You should definitely go down this rabbit hole and experience their greatness! They evolved quite a lot in the 8 years that they were a recording band, where they touched so many different styles and genres. I envy you, because I know the magic that is yet for you to discover. Enjoy the ride! Peace
If you like love songs, the Beatles have some of the most memorable ones ever written. If you like simple songs with a repetitive chorus, the Beatles have oodles of them, each more perfectly formed than the last. If you like anarchic, riotous songs with no discernible repeat pattern, the Beatles pretty much invented this form, and have quite a few mind-boggling examples. If you like gentle and sensitive songs, the Beatles have them, too, ready to soothe your soul. If you like songs that celebrate the ineffable wonder of the Universe and Nature, the Beatles can provide them. If you want ground-breaking psychedelia, hard rock, story songs about ordinary people and places, 60s beat music, pop, rock n roll, introspective songs, rhythm n blues, insane roof-lifting screamers, sentimental musings/ cosy trips down memory lane, wild avant garde musical experimentation, deep Eastern mysticism, 'nonsense' songs that may or may not mean something important, comedy/ satire, songs about dogs, circus/ carnival themes, or songs about bus trips, the Beatles have it all. If you'd like recommendations in any of those categories, I'm sure your audience here will be happy to oblige... Enjoy your Beatles journey!
If you like super short songs --- the Beatles have those also, the shortest (plus 6 other short ones) maybe 23 seconds. The White Albumn. George Harrison's.
Stumbled here and really enjoyed this so much. Love seeing the music of my generation resurfacing everywhere. You two are great and this oldish 'semi-hippie' looks forward to seeing more from you guys. 💙🕊✌🕊
The best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be! The Beatles simply can not be topped musically. They laid down the foundations for all the music to follow!!
Amazing that these four Liverpool lads brought so much joy to so many millions of people... Although this is maybe not one of their more popular songs, I think it shows the wide music that they were capable of
The song obviously is about love & an intimate relationship, but the ability to acknowledge their intimacy without vulgar references is what made classic rock better than the trash today.
There was a vulger (vulgerish) reference but they did it with humor and creativity; when he said she had really done him...they both laughed...as in she was good in bed, but then they added, done me good. Thier humor was a large part of thier greatness. Playfulness.
John Lennon his singing about Yoko Ono his girlfriend who if you watch other videos of the Roof top concert, she is sitting on the side. He left his wife for her.
@@Rick-or2kq I know where she is sitting. That has nothing to do with anything. It is a song. I know who the hell he is probably singing it about...but it is still a song. That does not change anything about what I said. I'm not saying it is obscene. I am making a comment about it being completly clean. They both laugh when singing it because it is a little raunchy. I'm just pointing it out. And I am not saying that it is a negative. It is a great great song, and they are great. But they were playful and mischievous, and that was a part of what made them the best.
The Beatles are best discovered in chronological order, like ABBA, because of their constant evolution. Their growth is right there for you to see. To think that people have never heard of them makes me feel ancient but I hope you never give up on them.
When you dive into The Beatles, you'll be amazed how they evolved and changed with the times from when they released their first single in 1962 through to when they split in 1970.
Nice one ladies, glad to see you enjoyed this rooftop concert from The Beatles, this is from around 55 yrs ago, have a think about this. I was 6 yrs old when I was blown off my feet by The Beatles in 1962/63, They're still in my heart and been a big influence in my life.
about 2 days before they were a few floors below and wrote this song from nothing, then up on the roof and perform it for the first time, and they produced THAT!. just genius
Great choice. This was an unrehearsed, unscheduled last ever live performance on the roof of their recording company in London. The police stopped it and after this, they no longer toured as the Girls screamed so much that they could not hear each other o the stage. When they turned up in Adelaide, Australia over 500,000 greeted them at The Airport and on the 7-mile route back to their hotel/ They were the first to play to NONsegregated USA audiences and performed the first ever outside LIVE show in New York in front of 55,000. They recorded 230 songs, nearly all different. ENJOY:)
There has to be a first time listening to the Beatles for everyone. I'm so old I simply can't remember when I haven't heard the Beatles. But I was born in 1965 so chances are there's never been a moment in my life when I did not know the Beatles. My first time hearing them would have been in the womb. Fun fact: the week that I was born, "Help!" was the number one single in Australia (I'm Aussie).
This footage was from a concert The Beatles gave on the roof of their Apple Records Studios in downtown London, in the middle of the day, much to the consternation of the folks in the neighborhood. Hence the presence of the Bobbies. As it turned out, this was the final, last, public performance by the boys. And since John Lennon was murdered in December of 1980 and George Harrison passed from cancer in the early 2000's, there will be no reunion, except in heaven.
The Beatles are John, Paul, George and Ringo..... John sang and mostly wrote this song... for a "Paul" song, try the live performance of "Hey Jude" on the David Frost Show... and for a George song, watch the official video for "Something"... and for real fun, watch them at the start of the career when girls screamed at their shows and watch them perform "She Loves You" live at the ABC Cinema in Manchester UK in 1963 and see what your grandmothers went wild for... it was called Beatlemania for a reason!
John Lennon: Lead vocal (on this track), rhythm guitar Paul McCartney: (The dude with the beard) Background vocals, bass guitar George Harrison: (guy with the black fur coat) lead guitar Ringo Starr (aka Richard Starkey - with the red coat) on drums Also has the great keyboardist, and personal friend of theirs Billy Preston sitting in on this song.
Check out “Get Back”, “Strawberry Fields Forever” , “I Saw Her Standing There”. Fun Fact: Last Year the Beatles were in the top ten in total album sales in the US - more than 50 years after they broke up.
You ladies are cool. It’s great to see people of character who don’t just follow the current trends but can be their authentic selves. Your beauty and passion will take you far. More Beatles reactions please.
60-year-old white dude here and I grew up with the Beatles but I have to say, Not only was this enjoyable and I always love footage from that rooftop concert, there's a massive backstory behind that but at any rate you guys are cracking me up so much. In so many ways and it's really heartfelt. About the time you said well we spend our time at the library and in the kitchen and in this room, I just started losing it, laugh. I have a feeling I originally subscribed a while back maybe because of some elvis? I can't remember but this was thoroughly enjoyable and I hope you do more beatles. They are notoriously difficult to get up but then again I follow several reactors that do it on a regular basis, they just got the pattern down. Seems like it takes 3 weeks or something to go through all the Motions every time. But it's amazing to watch people fall in love with the beatles, which again is from my childhood but as a musician and a musicologist of sorts which by the way was the name of the final Prince album before he moved on, and somehow this music is Reaching Across decades and generations. It's strange to see but I love it. And you guys seem so cool, I wouldn't be surprised if you were sisters because y'all are peas in a pot it seems to me.
This was on the 30 January 1969, the Beatles performed on the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row, in central London. I think it was the last time they ever performed live together.
The keystone of all popular music for the last 60 years. The Betales were exploring pure pop, rock’n‘roll, ska, RNB, country, lounge, hard rock, proto metal, psychedelia, space, raga, blues, art rock, baroque pop, noise rock ... and invented a lot of sub genres on the way. While writing songs for the eternity. PS: The late Billy Preston, a soul man from the US, was playing the magnificent Rhodes piano here. Sadly not very present in the video. Preston was a close friend of the band and almost became a fifth member for a while.
I'm 67 years old. I was 6 years old when the Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan show for the first time. For 3 days prior to their appearance, they were all people talked about. When watching them even at the age of six, I knew I was witnessing something incredible. My life was literally never the same again after seeing them. They were that great. And, they still are to this day. They had no equal then, or still none to this day!❤
I haven't heard the Beatles for a while and playing this video I was shocked, again, at how good they are. That always happens when I haven't heard them for a few months or so.
You will be amazed how they started whit more noisy and quickly songs and sounds, and then they ends more softly and chil like you noticed in early 70's
At one time had ALL 5 "Top 100" Singles in The USA and 14 songs in The Top 100, at the same time. WORLDWIDE they sols more records than the next 2 Artists(Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson) COMBINED:)
I think it's great that we have the internet to preserve the past bands for immediate listening. You girls have a great musical journey ahead of y'all.
Heard this song for the first time on the radio as a teenager sitting with my brother in the back seat of my dad's 4 door IH pick-up looking for a fall deer hunting spot. I had been listening to the Beatles for several years but recognized this as a departure from their all over the map style. Loved it!
One of the beautiful things about the Beatles, is that you could take any part of any song in their catalog and find an entire genre of music depending on which part you're keen on. This is a good way to connect to the people two or three generations before you. If you like the love of love and relationship stories, may I suggest 'Nights in white satin' by the Moody Blues. It was around the same time. Slower tempo, full orchestra backing, and hauntingly beautiful. Backstory is about a recently failed relationship. One that went on long enough for her to buy satin sheets, and by what the singer is expressing, quite a while after that, at least in his heart. Keep in mind there were no cell phones, internet, 3 channels on TV and 4-5 radio stations total, if you were lucky. But you could play one of these albums and be positively transported. Keep it up! You're doing great.
Go ahead discovering the Beatles, it´s so revarding. I like that you in the younger generations appreciate what these bands and artists did long before AI and pitch control.
My first time watching your channel. You jumped into the tail end of the Beatles music. You couldn't imagine the storm they created when they first started. In the USA they called it the "British Invasion." It got crazy for them and you can hear it in the song "Help". Check out - "While my Guitar Gently Weeps." Also "A Day in the Life" is one of the all time greatest songs. Good luck on your channel.
There’s a movie about this, their last Public appearance. It was live on a City Rooftop. You’ll see how people are hearing music but they don’t know where it’s coming from and discover it’s 4-5 stories up and then the street gets packed. The movie is “Let It Be”, like their album. Now you know why this band is the greatest ever! Check out their “Long and Winding Road”, “Something”, “ Imagine”, “Nowhere Man”….. SanJoséBob
By George said Paul sitting on the John, where'd my Ringo? I hope this helps you remember their names like it helped me 60 years ago. Loved your reactions. Enjoy the ride ❤️
They changed and evolved over the years! They sang about everything and did it best! They all played multiple instruments even the drummer Ringo could play some piano but the other 3 played keyboards, guitars and even drums! John sang lead on that song but they all sang lead on different songs!
It's so fun to encounter people that never heard The Beatles' music because I don't remember who I was before them, I was really young when my mom introduced me to them amd became really obsessed and then they became everything. I wish I could listen to their music for the first time again, being an adult and more aware of it yknow?
I’ve been a Beatles fan for 60 years.. they are iconic as a band and as solo musicians. You should react to Now and Then videophone that was put out last song all 4 Beatles contributed too.
oh god, where to start...look, ladies...the World YOU live in, today...Was Made by the Beatles. ALL the music you like today...was started with The Beatles. They are the most important group of musicians in Human History. They started Everything. There was nothing before them.
Uh-oh. Congratulations on tripping down into the rabbit hole of The Beatles. Listen to one or two more of their songs from around 1968 to 1970. I can tell that you'll be instantly hooked on THE greatest band ever in existence & will be forever. Congratulations on what will be an epiphany for both of you. x Linda
They sold more than 2.3 BILLION albums, while earning 6 diamond, 24 multi-platinum, 39 platinum and 45 gold albums in the United States alone. They won 7 Grammy awards out of 23 nominations and had 35 top 10 songs (and 50 in the top 100). And they were always ever-evolving with each new album.
Well done girls. A lovely view on the beatles. The level of influence that music of black origin had on the beatles was undeniable. Then the influence the beatles had on so much music today is unsurpassed.
Performed live on a rooftop. Imagine the locals businesses on the street were complaining about the noise and the police were called in to stop it. IMAGINE - They're the BEATLES.
They performed this on the rooftop or their recording studio in London and had the access up the stairs restricted. Traffic stopped all around, people gathered on the street and nearby rooftops to watch and listen; after 45 minutes, London police stopped the fun.
This was their last song played together as a band! The way you squirmed as Paul did his little shake what’s shocking……I always thought that was so cute.
it is odd for me to hear young people say they have never heard the Beatles music but , in all fairness i'm not aware of 90 percent of todays music , so,,,,, i was 17 when the beatles came to the American airwaves and it was an extreme shock for us considering what we were use to . As great as their music is , i think their emergence was more of time factor than anything . it was like when rock and roll first emerged back in the fifties . us kids loved it and the adults freaked out , going so far as to ban it from the radio in some areas . so young ladies i hope you get into the Beatles very larg catalog of music and enjoy it .

This is one of my favourites of theirs. Their music style is all over the map. They cannot be pigeon-holed into a genre. That's why we love them.
Once you start with the Beatles, you can go down one hell of a rabbit hole. You can listen to 50 of their songs, and the 51st one will still surprise you.
I’d day 100 at least.
Peace
Welcome to loving the Beatles music. They packed in so much in the short time they remained as a band. Keep listening won't be disappointed.
@or529
If they continue what they started here, these two, or either one, are in for an amazing, wild, ride, aren't they!
Divine Beatles!
You guys have just watched the last live performance of the greatest band ever . Unmatched to this day.
Not your typical first Beatles song listen. Their catalog is huge. Keep going!
Exactly what I was thinking!
Don't be like that Mitchell, that's embarrassing
Omg i love this song and this is one of my favorite albums
They don't look impressed
The Beatles are best discovered in chronological order, like ABBA, because of their constant evolution. Their growth is right there for you to see. To think that people have never heard of them makes me feel ancient but I hope you never give up on them.
When you dive into The Beatles, you'll be amazed how they evolved and changed with the times from when they released their first single in 1962 through to when they split in 1970.
Paul with his harmonies helped to make the Beatles so great.
Nice one ladies, glad to see you enjoyed this rooftop concert from The Beatles, this is from around 55 yrs ago, have a think about this. I was 6 yrs old when I was blown off my feet by The Beatles in 1962/63, They're still in my heart and been a big influence in my life.
more beatles please, "shes leaving home", "a day in the life", "eleanor rigby", "here, there and everywhere".
kisses from brazil
about 2 days before they were a few floors below and wrote this song from nothing, then up on the roof and perform it for the first time, and they produced THAT!.
ENJOY:)
My favorite Beatles song!!
It was also late January 1969 and perishing cold and windy up there, apparently.
The Music Gods smiled upon Earth when they gave us The Beatles !!! 😊
We are forever grateful !!!!😊
John Lennon: Lead vocal (on this track), rhythm guitar
Paul McCartney: (The dude with the beard)
Background vocals, bass guitar
George Harrison: (guy with the black fur coat) lead guitar
Ringo Starr (aka Richard Starkey - with the red coat) on drums
Also has the great keyboardist, and personal friend of theirs Billy Preston sitting in on this song.
The Beatles are goated 💯 ❤️👊🏻
Check out “Get Back”, “Strawberry Fields Forever” , “I Saw Her Standing There”. Fun Fact: Last Year the Beatles were in the top ten in total album sales in the US - more than 50 years after they broke up.
I stood across the street at 3 Saville Row in 2014 looking up at the Rooftop where The Beatles played…!!!! Very emotional…!!L!
So cool!!!
The lead singer on this song is John Lennon. The Beatles have many, many wonderful songs
Y'all sound you're from England, and you've NEVER heard the Beatles? That is absolutely wild! Welcome to the rabbit-hole, you're gonna love it!
The Beatles were and adventure. Hearing them now reminds me about how new their sound was and kept getting newer each year.
Thank You VERY MUCH LADIES❤!!! Love You both! Looking forward to more!
BEATLES, SECOND TO NONE! NOW AND THEN AND FOREVER!!!
Those 4 men they had a special magic together! Just the best...
I have loved that song for 50 years. Glad you like it too.
So true, the simplicity of the old music is so great!
A must see is the Beatles first movie Called A Hard Days Night
At one time had ALL 5 "Top 100" Singles in The USA and 14 songs in The Top 100, at the same time.
WORLDWIDE they sols more records than the next 2 Artists(Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson) COMBINED:)
Try "This Boy" for romance and "Girl" for infatuation, the Beatles really experimented and were innovators in so many areas of music.
Most influential band ever
Love your review girls, just keep listening to the Beatles you won't go wrong
I think it's great that we have the internet to preserve the past bands for immediate listening. You girls have a great musical journey ahead of y'all.
Of all their great songs, this is right at the top. Lennon's raspy voice is awesome.
Biggest selling artists of all time 23 number one songs.
Gosh...you are soooo adorable!! I could sing songs like these to your ear all night through!!1 love from Argentina...Jorge here
Great reaction. Love you guys!
Thank you!! 😁
Oh the greatness of this performance epitomises this once in a lifetime group. The best ever
SanJoséBob
Great reaction.
Important to also note playing on the keyboards is Billy Preston. He's an integral part to this rooftop concert by the Beatles.
I’ve been a Beatles fan for 60 years.. they are iconic as a band and as solo musicians. You should react to Now and Then videophone that was put out last song all 4 Beatles contributed too.
This is a song about love- and how. He's so desperately in love he sang Pleeeeeease on high notes at the end.
Taking The Beatles journey will change you forever.
oh god, where to start...look, ladies...the World YOU live in, today...Was Made by the Beatles.
Congratulations on what will be an epiphany for both of you.
x
Linda
Wow, the Beatles. I've lived all my life in England, and I've never heard of them. I'm sure you believe me.
Music from the heart. All great music is 😊
They sold more than 2.3 BILLION albums, while earning 6 diamond, 24 multi-platinum, 39 platinum and 45 gold albums in the United States alone. They won 7 Grammy awards out of 23 nominations and had 35 top 10 songs (and 50 in the top 100). And they were always ever-evolving with each new album.
At one time had ALL 5 "Top 100" Singles in The USA and 14 songs in The Top 100,at the same time.
Try Here comes the sun from The Beatles
This was basically their farewell to the World .
Love songs are tip of the iceberg, they are a lot deeper and innovative in all their music. Poets, musicians and vocalists
I’m envious,I wish I was discovering all the music all over again.
California guy here totally in love with your accent! Wow!
You two complement each other wonderfully. And if you liked this Beatles song, there are many more where that came from!
😂 never heard of the Beatles
My kids have been listening to the Beatles since they were born
it is odd for me to hear young people say they have never heard the Beatles music but , in all fairness i'm not aware of 90 percent of todays music , so,,,,,
i was 17 when the beatles came to the American airwaves and it was an extreme shock for us considering what we were use to .
I'VE GOT A FEELING was the best song they performed on the Roof of Apple Studios that day. 👀🇦🇺
