"I wake up around 6:00" If you wake "around 6:00" you will not have your bed or your uniform ready for inspection. You're looking at 5:15-5:30 to get your bed and uniform done, and makes sure the rest of your barracks are clean. Camp is great except for the lack of sleep.
At Blackdown reveille goes at 0600 but every bodies up at 0530 or earlier on Delta. To change into combats and stuff. Then after breakfast we get back and have time to do our beds and inspection.
Doesn't work like that. If reveille is at 0600, that means 0600 and you're not allowed to get up any earlier than that. By the way wake up time isn't inspection time. That happens after breakfast usually.
This is Greenwood, all CTCs are different. Back when I was at Greenwood, we weren't inspected until after breakfast, and we were given about half an hour to clean and get ready beforehand. Granted, I only took GT before going off to a different CTC so they took it easy on us, but yes, waking up "around 6:00" gives you plenty of time.
I've been to Albert Head and Vernon, never went to any courses in Quadra or Cold Lake, I heard they are nice. By the way, if any of you get the chance, you should do ARMI(Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor) they teach you a lot about marksmanship, and as the course progresses you will get the chance to really test out your leadership skills, each platoon gets to command, coach, and assist the other platoons(Mainly GTs) But the community is unrivaled, you can say what you want about how relaxed the course is, and how low the standards are, but you cannot knock the sense of community between the course cadets. I mean for Christ sake, the entire company dressed up in green streamers and face paint for Battalion Sports, everybody else is all serious with their uniforms and their strict standards, and we come marching down the hill looking like we just got out of a frat house.
This brings back a haunting amount of memories. Left cadets....12 years ago or so? RMC, the resort camp. Comox, the resort camp, but with the ocean and edible jelly fish. Ah nostalgia.
Cold Lake, 2k7, aircrew survival, Mustang Flt. After 3 days in the wild, I started eating like an animal after returning into the mess hall. This course taught me really well the distinction between an animal and a human being. 3 days without ordinary food turned me into a wild animal. Keep in mind that besides Aircrew Survival, there is also a Survival Instructor Course that lasts 6 weeks, with no food, and no water.
It's been a long time since any cadets have gone to camp or done large parades. Mistakes are gonna happen and that's okay. As long as your try to adapt and work hard, you'll be alright
from my experience at DCI, you basically need to make mistakes in order to succeed, they wont get upset at you if you mess up, they'll only get upset if you dont put the effort in
Harder you work as a cadet faster you get recognized and promoted I read the manual one weekend after receiving basic training as a air cadet wrote all exams that Monday and taught courses that following Wednesday I have learning disabilities special needs it didn't stop me from the Special Service Force and M113 50 cal.m72 and other vehicles and in the heat of battle in Mogadishu 1993 I took initiative and learned to drive Bisons Cougars up a ramp onto a ship very tight ship I learned on the spot 0230 hrs
what you should have done is film from 3 different bases. Blackdown, Trenton, and(i can't remember where sea cadets go) it would have been better to get the perspective from army and sea too not just air

Ah Birchill I remember marching past and a bunch of people in gas masks hanging off the side of black vans driving strait for us, our Flight sergeant yelled SCRAM as they drove past screaming out of the way! man Greenwood is a time!
I am 15 years old and thinking about joining army cadets, I know most people join at a younger age but my question is, what can I expect on my first day, because I won't know much about cadets am I teamed with other newbies?
Quantum yeah they would put you with the other "green stars" which are first year cadets, you would have like classes learning the basics and if you excel they might bump you up so your with people your age
Quantum I'm an air cadet, but this might help. It may be a bit intimidating and you might not have any friends at the start, but the more you get involved the more friends you make, the more fun you have. Take every opportunity Cadets gives you. It will help in the future.

It's okay to be nervous, but there's nothing to be nervous about. The people there will show you where to go and everything. Don't worry about knowing people before you go, you'll meet a lot of new people there. camp is the best
I went to Gagetown in NB a few years back. Best thing ive ever done so much fun i didn't want to leave. You may be home sick for a bit but you will get over it as you start making friends. Plus they had a N64 at the canteen so I got to relive some of my younger years with friends absolutely loved it.
i went to an outdoor education centre and one of the staff there recommended the cadets program to my group. i'm interested but don't know which element to pick
FireRedLion101 The differences are what they focus on. Air is more aviation geared. Sea is more boat geared. And army is more field geared. So I would day to choose of you would like to learn about field activities, aviation, or boat stuff. I recommend the program. You will have so much fun no matter what you choose.
If you still can't pick even after you've researched a bit about the different elements then I would suggest picking the corps closest to you, believe it or not but most of cadets across the elements are pretty similar in everything they do, with a few exceptions such as special events, flying, scuba, etc.

Just completed BMQ in Chiliwack and I want to say Cadet camp was so much easier than the actual military camps. Reserves were for the big bois.
ya think?
Only difference is Military basic training holds value to their training.
Cadets is just wannabe drill instructors with toxic power complexes.
