One dark night in January my alternator went out and batter/bike went dead. Called AAA for road service, and the very nice guy arrived in about 45 min. We loaded the bike on the rollback only to discover the driver had nothing on the truck for timing down a motorcycle. Since then I have a set of four long ratchet straps that live on the bike. If you break down there may be several nice motorists with utility trailers who stop and offer a ride, but few will have the proper straps to deal with an 800 lb bike.
Oh my!!! I'd never fit all that stuff on my 1500. Watching this video reminded me of watching a clown car being unloaded. The stuff just kept coming. You might want to check to make sure you have a rear tire, I think I saw some stuff that came from the left side saddlebag. :)
I am a light traveler. I have rain gear in the front trunk plus a tire patch kit and small air compressor ( In 45 year I have never used the kits or compressor) Fly rod and drone and a jacket in case it's cool. Most important is my phone for nav and emergency. Sun glasses and flashlight That's about it. I pull a camper trailer on trips so that's a whole different pile of stuff. Lots of good stuff in that 1500 of yours for sure.
Move to south florida and eliminate 3/4 of the stuff. I don't do road trips more than a few hours at most. I have triple A, so that eliminates most of the other stuff. Could not imagine working on my 1500 and pulling off covers on the side of the highway. I use my trunks to go shopping and put groceries in a few times a week. Thanks. 😁
Good video, first time I've viewed your channel, won't be the last! Bungies and straps are pretty obsolete "Gear Ties", available Lowes, Home Depo, Amazon, etc.. Been using them for years. My Wing is also well packed, so is my trailer, because... better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
That's a good one and There's another saying that goes right along with yours..."Two is one and one is none". Simply put, carry extra of what you do carry...I know first hand that it makes sense as I lost a screwdriver at night sitting on the side of a busy interstate and so glad I had a spare...I think that mouse grabbed it as it ran between wife's feet scaring her out of her shoes...that was funnier to me than loosing a tool, which turns out was in my Wife's coat pocket all along.
Always enjoy your videos! I have many of the same items in my trunk/saddlebags as you do. The tennis balls are a nice idea and that Honda Spray cleaner is awesome and not very expensive.
I like this and only have a couple more items that I've used on several occasions, mostly for other riders and is very handy. EYE WASH. I also have a few pair of rubber mechanics gloves and hand wipes...( those need to in an air tight Zip-Lock Baggie or they will dry out. Other than that You may even carry a thing or two more than me. I do like those half cut Tennis balls tho. I can think of one more use for those....On the end of my side stand to keep it from melting into hot asphalt. Right now I only have a small square cut from a truckers mud flap, it works but I've forgotten and left it behind a couple of times so something that stays on the side stand would be better....probably need to paint it black tho.
First aid kits is always my moto and top list !! My kids gets hurt and ALWAYS know I’m prepared to aid in first aids !! “ HEY ! DAD !! I’m BLEEDING!! ( sorry gotta go aid !!)
Call me crazy but I carry a small fire extinguisher. I saw a guyd Harley burn up, cars usually don't carry fire extinguisher a nd it was a no truck route. I'm x truck driver
I do have gloves stuffed in the bottom of my tool bag. I also had a DynaPlug tire plug kit, but I used it on a friend's bike, so I need to replace it. www.amazon.com/Dynaplug-Tubeless-Tire-Repair-Tool/dp/B00BBE7KAM/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&tag=goldwingdocs-20
Sure, blame the mirror on your wife... My 83 Wing had a mirror built-in the truck case lid. And I have a fleece neck gaiter too. I need italmost every morning for my commute
It was a book published annually by the now defunct GWRRA, or Goldwing Road Riders Association. It had a list of contacts from all around the world, who had volunteered to help out any Goldwing rider in need. Among many other things.
It apparently was replaced with the "New Horizon" which are available: www.amazon.com/Olympia-Moto-Sports-Horizon-XX-Large/dp/B01D53P1C0/ref=sr_1_1?tag=goldwingdocs-20
@@GoldwingDocs Only the black is available in Medium-Large. Yellow, which is mandatory for me (visibility), is only available in X-small-Small. As I said, been that way for months.
I have had to use the tools in my Goldwing TWICE in 12 years. Both times were to help a fellow biker who was broken down at the side of the road, and in both cases, it was a Harley that was broken down.
People mention that all the time! :) A previous owner tightened it down once when it wasn't properly aligned, causing the alignment lug to be damaged. I've since replaced it to fix it, but it still shows that way on the intro, which I shot over a year ago. One day I'll make a new intro and nobody will ask about it anymore. :)

I have a 84 GL1200 and I carry almost everything you have but I also carry two stoves food tea coffee hammock emmrod fishing pole.
I also keep a plug kit with an air compressor, a kickstand pad when parked on dirt, grass or gravel and a small cooler for water and Gatorade.
I have those as well! But mine is an insulated thermos with water in it.
NOCO booster pack and the necessary adapters to charge the pack when the bike is running. It has saved by arse dozens of times.

Suture kit AND tourniquet. Dang. You ride ready.

Man, you can storage a lot on those saddlebags. Way bigger than my Harley ones. Thanks for sharing sir.
To be honest, I've never given thought to what I wanted to carry in my bags...lol This video opened my eyes to the emergancy stuff and more. Thanks
Thanks for the tennis ball tip
I carry 2 mirrors on my bike, they are very helpful in traffic.
Been using the Honda spray cleaner and polish on my Harley’s for years. Great stuff! Now I can use it on my (new to me) 08 Wing
Update: I switched to another product called AutoProShine. It’s the only product I will use now. Sample of results are shown on my banner page
You seem like a Leonard person who's knowledge in all various sectors
White is my favorite color for the Goldwing
Mine too!
Great video!! Love to see what other people carry!

Couple of good ideas to carry on my Bike Thanks

Eye wash is a great idea. I actually carry contact lens solution with me for my lenses, which could (and has) easily double for eye wash.
GREAT I WUSH I HAD CHECKED THIS BEFORE.. BUT I NOW KNOW WHAT TO CARRY.. THANKS
Tire leak repair kit, battery to jump start are nice additions also.
You're 100% right! I used to have a Dynaplug kit in there, but I used it to fix a buddy's tire, and forgot to replace it. Thanks for reminding me!
First aid kits is always my moto and top list !! My kids gets hurt and ALWAYS know I’m prepared to aid in first aids !! “ HEY ! DAD !! I’m BLEEDING!! ( sorry gotta go aid !!)
Genius thx. Love your videos
Great video. I just found your channel yesterday. Love it. Now get a 2001 to 17 and do some more videos please.
We shd be totally running our own shop bro !
Make sure you have two 10mm wrenches and sockets! 😂
Never thought about carry things... but I can see how naïve I've been
Great info ! Thanks much!
No roll of duct tape? Tennis ball trick is nice. Thanks!
Hm. You're right, I did have duct tape in there before, I must have used it up. I'll have to put some more in there.
Excellent
the most important question for me is - where to get this ccol shirt!
Call me crazy but I carry a small fire extinguisher. I saw a guyd Harley burn up, cars usually don't carry fire extinguisher a nd it was a no truck route. I'm x truck driver
Do you pull a trailer?
Yes, I have an Aspen Sentry trailer.
I live in the Chicago area, so for me it’s a Gun
So you carry a mechanic and a navy corpsman in your saddlebags.. lol!
Gloves, tore repair kit and tiny compressor. Cleaning rags and spray. Olympia liner..
I do have gloves stuffed in the bottom of my tool bag. I also had a DynaPlug tire plug kit, but I used it on a friend's bike, so I need to replace it.

GoldwingDocs that’s ironic.. the only time I used my tire kit and compressor was on a strangers Harley on the BRP

Scott, what is the "Gold Book" you spoke about in this video? THanks
It was a book published annually by the now defunct GWRRA, or Goldwing Road Riders Association. It had a list of contacts from all around the world, who had volunteered to help out any Goldwing rider in need. Among many other things.
Can you place a link for the custom earplugs or, the vendor that you featured at WingDing or the motorcycle show you attended please.
Sure thing, you can see the entire review on them (with links) right here: goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=49149
The Olympia Horizon Rain jacket has been out of stock for months. It's exactly what I want, but for some reason, they are not making them anymore.

Hey bro that's my shirt lol
What's the Goldbook?
It has a list of GWRRA members by location who have volunteered to help any other GWRRA member in need when they are travelling.
I concure! What the heck is the Gold Book, never heard of it?
@RogueWing Thank you.
@@GoldwingDocs Thank you.
Their isn’t enough room in your saddlebags and trunk for all that crap. Where would you carry your luggage and souvenirs on a trip?
You ride a Honda, tools are not needed... That's what they told me 🙂...
I have had to use the tools in my Goldwing TWICE in 12 years. Both times were to help a fellow biker who was broken down at the side of the road, and in both cases, it was a Harley that was broken down.
Where did you get that voltmeter?
I built it! And it's far more than just a voltmeter. You can see more about it here: ruclips.net/video/WjYMwlB-TuU/видео.html
Why does your entire switch assembly rotate when you blip the throttle? Is that normal?
People mention that all the time! :) A previous owner tightened it down once when it wasn't properly aligned, causing the alignment lug to be damaged. I've since replaced it to fix it, but it still shows that way on the intro, which I shot over a year ago. One day I'll make a new intro and nobody will ask about it anymore. :)
Do you sell brake pads
A lot of stuff. Really. All of this stuff is EDC?
If you can afford a GoldWing you probably need to carry only a credit card and a toothbrush.
I don't think Goldwings (at least used Goldwings) are as expensive as you think they are. Decent GL1500's like mine can be had for $3000.
Just buy a convertible. What you are riding is no longer a motorcycle. Why even bother?
