New Zealanders know how to design modern homes so much better than most folks on Earth. I'm always blown away at how Americans toss up cookie cutter homes (especially in California) vs. how other states and countries take pride in what they build and take the time to set themselves apart from their neighbors and surrounding homes. Thanks for sharing Josh!
Doesn’t take much to amaze you guess what people still live in mud huts to this day would hate for them to experience idk rain or something or maybe not all countries are the same and don’t need the same construction as yours
im more amazed how the half of the house has no concrete under it, only wooden sticks. Wonder how much they gonna sink under couple of years and moving the entire house or if they dont sink, how well those woods fight against the weather conditions.
Beautiful finished product buddy, how do you find the black cupboards for marking? Ours were flat finish and couldn’t keep the finger prints off them….
Do you paint the houses in winter in the rain? How long does the foundation dry for? Here in South Africa you can buy a Woodhouse, it is known as a "Wendy House." I live in a brick house that was built about 60 years ago. Everything is over-engineered. I can build a 1st floor without reinforcement due to the strength of the walls. Then again, I must say I vacationed in an A-Frame Woodhouse, and I was pleasantly surprised in the warmth and the feeling of space with the wood around you and not cement and bricks.
I'm going to guess that termites are not much of an issue there. Seeing the wood posts directly into the ground is something that would not fly here, although in the far North, once into permafrost, foundations have to be wood.
New Zealand ground contact timber is generally H4 treated or higher, its treated with CCA (copper-chromium-arsenate) which is banned in most of the world due to the toxicity of arsenic, unmaintained it will last a good 50 years, if you maintain it and do what you can to not have it go through constant wet-dry cycles (causes cracking over time) it can last longer than a lifetime, many houses in NZ are on timber piles directly in the ground (some even without concrete) and those houses are often 100 or more years old.
It’s always fun to discuss the real estate market! I saw a new video specifically discussing the market trends of New York real estate, titled: ‘How quickly will a $3 billion home in New York sell? | Real Estate Investment | New York Real Estate Investment 2024’. You can check it out!
Hey. Auck council request for further information. Asks how can i get recycled kauri t n g flooring to comply in my new build. Can i get a letter from a lbp to advise , condition, suitableity.durability etc to get council to accept it in a new build.ta sean
I don't know why but for me as an European this kind of house looks like kids tree house. I am aware it's stable and good isolated but house without bricks, nah, not for me, thanks.
What exactly is the wisdom in a house design where, upon entering, one immediately encounters the kitchen and a granite countertop protruding there like a bone? Such a flawed plan. Who would find it logical to have a house where one enters directly into the kitchen before everything else?
It's all down to land prices and climate. Those houses are good for the place they're in. I'm from the UK and the very idea of houses completely lacking bricks is wild to me, but I imagine these builds are much cheaper than equivalent scale in the UK
Quality is fantastic/world class, your fault if you didn’t do due diligence… Australia actually sets the world standard for wind tolerance & NZ sets world standard for earth quake tolerance…. Don’t make up story’s…

german sturdy walls wont work in new zealand, to many (small) earthquakes causing them to crack.
Showing the progress of building this house was amazing nice job
Thanks :)
This content is so unique, your channel should be a super start, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
I love it.
The colour theme is just wow ❤
I'm always amazed, that those cardboard box houses with those thiny wood sticks got not blown away by the wind ^^ ;)

Lol, they survive storms here in the states. They do better with earthquakes around the west coast. Also easier to renovate for a home owner

Houses from the 1800s were all on wooden piles and most are still standing. We're prone to earthquakes and flooding here so they make the most sense
Very nice work Josh your the best
Thanks 👍
That's really helpful thanks Josh, i'm looking forward to see more content like this
More to come!
Nice work mate!
Nice build bro. Your work is impressive
Well done dude, great video. the drone footage was slick

i live in a woodhouse near where this construction is happening. it is a wood house(constructed in 60's) and pretty warm in winters.
Hey Josh dd you not have to have your decking perpendicular to some of the exterior doors for slip resistant. I like how you did it .
Отличная архитектура
Lovely house. Could you share any floor plan?
this is riverstone terrace, upperhutt i am pretty sure.
Mesmerizing to watch! May I ask how much is a build of this size/style approximately?
Roughly 4 grand a sqm for something of this spec
Awesome!Which product is that vertical shiplap cladding?
Hey its a Hermpac Cedar

Was the clips+channel for drywall for soundproofing? Did the skylight drywall couple the ceiling to the structure?
Is that carpet in the garage!
Hi Josh, beautiful house, nice work. Is the vertical and horizontal cladding by the front door Lineaboard? Black and wood coloured?
Vertical Cladding is Cedar, Horizontal is Linea Weatherboard
Great video!! What is the cost of this kind of houses in NZ ?
Probably 750-850k NZD Ex land

As an American I find it fascinating to watch how other countries build things.
Nice work, beautiful. Can you share the floor plan if possible?
mean video bro!
Appreciate it!
Nice house man it’s cool as 👍👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺🥝

No danger of those foam blocks compressing under the concrete slab over time??
Not a chance, surface area is too great and the concrete fully encloses them so no deterioration either.
Plenty of steel reinforcing to hold it all together as well :)
What tile did you use in the bathrooms
Красиво, очень крутой прект, но каркасный... У нас бы мыши пожрали 😁
I assume the customer did not add the landscaping to the price.
How much was rhis?
Where’s the vapour barrier?
Great work Josh. What do you find the most stressful part of the building process?
Getting paid
How much slide windows weihgt ?
how would we get the full build plans for this in the united states. i wanna do this build here.
Hey mate question from Oz, how much would it cost to build this house?
Probably $5,000 per m2 So, around 750-800k NZD
It's a pity that the land is the size of a postage stamp, but the house is really beautiful.
How much are these same build of house?
Rough budget please:
1. Land
2. Build cost
3. All Materials
4. Furniture
5. Landscaping
Money talk, how much is the price difference, between this tip of construction, and beton construction walls??
Any floor plans for this build??

Hi Josh, love the house plan. Is it available and where can we find it? Thanks in advance. Elize

looks nice on the surface but the build quality and the noice reduction is crap in those houses they are not worth the money

Im so sad that working a job of 40-60k a year ill never be able to afford the million dollars it takes to build even a small house here
The quality of houses and buildings in NZ is as bad like in Australia.
It's how we all build houses now. Trash cardboard and low quality wood
@@Acoz0ryou won’t do that in a colder climate like here in Ukraine 😅
