I'm an indie writer and know a bunch of these people, so this is the actual answer. Leftists view everything through an ideological lens, and in entertainment, consider it more important to "teach" than entertain. They don't want teenagers reading books that entertain them, but that teach them something. And unfortunately that something happens to be leftist beliefs. The other issue is that they want everyone to feel "seen." If you identify as gay in high schoo, they want you to know that you're seen. Which means that every story must have every minority demographic shoved into it somehow, so that every minority student can feel validated in their totally immutable and not in any way peer or socially influenced personal identity. And because this make them heroes in their own mind, it makes them feel good and so they continue to push and push and push with it, believing that they are literally saving minority children from the big self delete.
They literally rather have their business die and rather lose money than give customers what they want. This is just what it is now, and there has been wayyy too many instances of this being the case for it to be denied. They would rather go bankrupt if it means spreading their message. These people made their way into what we love to destroy it, and they made money doing so. Then they just force their way into the next thing as the previous is only rubble left behind. Manga and Eastern entertainment is next and is already in the middle of happening. It's such BS.

I'm also not talking about manga only, but eastern entertainment in general. Like anime and video games as well. In manga, I feel like it has been affected, but it's still in the starting phase for them. For anime and video games, it is very much in the current process of full push like in the west. @@birddale5523Don’t ask me any names (bad on those), but we had by now several s-storms about localizations adding politics to mangas. Before that, during the pandemic, we heard of several cases, where companies like Crunchyroll tried to influence anime production to add more identity politics. There is definitely a push from US companies to force US politics into anime and manga. On top of that US media is tryin& to discredit anime and manga for being not diverse etc.
My 18 year old daughter showed me Bluey last week. It was quite fascinating, the storylines, the content, even things going on in the background. I didn’t think she would watch a show for toddlers. She was telling me about the abortion, the family next door divorcing, the friends getting together, and I noticed the kids were going to a Waldorf school. My 23 year old son walked by and he casually mentioned he’d seen that episode already. I looked at him and said- you watch this? He said, it’s surprisingly good and everyone is talking about it.
It's not the politics it's how it's being delivered handled. Lots of great comics and stories handled these issues before but better. It's just the crap being produced is crap.
@@screenmonkeyI disagree, old comics had social themes, but those were real social issues. Nowadays it’s all about identity politics and how people should be treated better based on their race and gender alone. The politics are also a big issue here, they don’t reflect the majority of people anymore, they are just made for a small elite.
Yeah, that just wrong... Yet like with journalists hard to feel bad about people losing their jobs or being abused by their jobs, when they actively go out of their way to antagonize and troll their core audience... They get what they deserve
I agree. People give Gen Z a hard time not realizing that a lot of them are expert trolls and the ultimate capitalists. Gen X, at the same age, burned down Woodstock. The corporate "peace" festival held on an abandoned military base, lol. It was actually a statement on the music industry because we could see exactly where it was going. All fake, corporate music. It used to be taboo to even lip sync. Now it is nothing but fake.
I mean look at what we grew up with. Let’s say entertainment in 80s-00s, we have incredible content like Gargoyles, Transformers, Beast Wars, Teen Titans, Avatar the Last Airbender, Jackie Chan Adventures, etc. there’s plenty of direction to go and these not only captivate children but push solid storylines that are remembered fondly as adults
@@KingRumar that’s because back then there was a lot of love and dedication to the works they were presented with. The stories told were timeless and the adventures created will always be remembered. Now it’s all just a cash grab with no substance.
It's a mixed thing, sadly. My brother and I have been lifelong Star Wars fans, and his son can't really get into it because none of his friends talk about it. None of them watch modern Star Wars, probably don't watch real Star Wars from before Disney's shenanigans, and he doesn't want to be the odd one out who likes something nobody else cares about. He does at least like Avatar: TLA, so there's hope I guess. Still makes me sad, though.
Well 13 year old boys that are the core audience of comic books have moved to Shonen manga that actually caters to their tastes and is made for them. American comics are not made for that core audiences anymore.
Kids would rather have stories and characters that are fun, relatable, and attractive. Manga are able to have those, no matter how Japanese they are. People can enjoy characters and stories different from themselves.
There’s a reason why DC was huge back in the day - their heroes are designed to be idolized. Marvel had that too but more and more have been made to be relatable rather than idolized. Kids want a hero to aspire to, to plant their roots in a solid foundation a strong role model can provide.
@@KingRumarClassic DC was made to be idolized, while classic Marvel was made to be relatable. The difference to today is just the definition of relatable. Back then it was „being human with flaws and strengths“, what made them heroes at Marvel, was their ability to overcome their flaws. Nowadays people want to define relatable as being exactly like the preferred reader in terms of race and sexual identity, but not white, not straight and not male. Manga on the other hand does more or less classic Marvel within Shonen. Heroes have also human flaws, but are capable of overcoming them, of being better than they were initially. That’s something that relates to teenage boy readers as it mirrors the teenage experience, being flawed but gifted with the potential to be better.
At this point, after learning about the industry, I'm glad the thing is dying and am surprised it didn't happen sooner. It needs to be reset to zero and start over.
Children aren't even interested in that, when I was 12 years old playing Undertale and I saw the couple Undyne and Alphys I just said "can women date each other? That's great, anyway, how cool Papyrus is and Metatton is very sexy, and I continue with my life and I´m even still straight. I hope the time when people wanted stories and not this ideological thing comes back.
Letting boys be boys, girls be girls, men be men, and women be women is the rule in nature. Henri from Hugtto Pretty Cure is a bigot when the dress-wearing male character said "Limiting yourself is a waste" as a way to say sex dimorphism is taboo that he is actually limiting both male freedom and female freedom. That means even women wearing male clothes are bigots too.
Isn't there an A missing somewhere? An A for Asexual, but why would they exclude asexuals now? Probably because asexuals have NO sex drive at all and they mustn't allow that.
Ironically the target audience doesn't care. My kid is reading gay comics like heartstopper (yah. It's absolute nonsense garbage but you have to pick battles.). No one wants this crap in the mainstream superhero market. But new books can do ok.
I met Trimpe in 1997 and at the time he was actually teaching art at a college so he turned me down for a commission. He changed his mind a few years later when he was an asked by other fans for commissions too. I still have the pieces he did for me back then.
I'm 38, when I was a kid in the 90s, comic books depicted male superheros as men with muscles, who saved the town and the women, and exuded integrity, heroism, and masculinity. They were awesome. There's no other way to say it, comic books now are gay as f***. Literally and figuratively.
That story from Herb Trimpe broke my heart. I couldn't imagine being a kid or grandchild and seeing a loved one like this. I'd grow up super bitter towards comics for the industry treating a relative like this. This just cements my commitment to NOT involve myself with the mainstream industry. Independent creations all the way!
Both of them are doing the same thing so that is hardly surprising. American media have completely forgotten what their customers want but it seems kids comics still have a few competent people left for now. Marvel and DC are in a situation when the only reason they are still up and running are because they are owned by 2 large corporations. Then again, the agenda of said corporations is what got them here in the first place. If Warner and Disney keep doing what they are doing now for a few more years, they will kill the IPs. It is possible Batman and Spiderman can survive that but the rest sure can't.
Theres a old saying that goes "Be nice to your kids because they choose the nursing home." The comicbook industry better straightened up or or they will be destroyed
It’s a shame that the current roster of showrunners and writers just use the entertainment platforms they have been given to be a personal therapy substitute, an outlet for their fetishes, and a means to deliver their political messages.
I‘m not sold on that. From what I see with children among people I know, kids are watching cartoons on streaming and a surprising amount of teenagers read manga. It’s just Disney and similar US offerings that seem to die.
I remember when Jim Valintio talked about the day image was formed. He said he was on Guardians of the Galaxy at the time, and the sales were bad. He thought Marvel was fixing to fire him, and he had no place to go because his style was not the hot stuff like Jim and Todd were doing. And when he was asked to join do to he understood publishing and so on, He jumped at it and he has stated how Image saved him from being poor. I have heard several stories like this in the past, and every time, it breaks my heart to hear this.

speaking as a gen z, these people seem to think that representation matters to people, that they need to see themselves in these things to enjoy them. well, then the reason i don't buy their stuff is because i don't see myself represented. as a straight white gen z male, i don't see myself represented in these comics/movies/tv shows/video games so im not gonna purchase them. because it's not about the story or the characters (or the gameplay in case of video games) all of that doesn't matter as much as representation right? so i won't buy star wars outlaws, im not buying the next spiderman game because it will star miles morales, i won't get flintlock siege of dawn. because nothing but representation matters right? but of course, i am not the demographic that they want to represent. they don't want my money, because they see me as a horrible person because of my race, gender and sexual preference. well, i hope there are enough people that they want to represent or enough masochists to keep their companies from shutting down, because there are tons of people who aren't just gonna sit there and continue to give them money just so they can tell us that we are horrible people for existing.
What I don't get is where people find this concept that things they watch on TV or movies or play in games NEED to be like themselves or be role models. In my generation, for better or worse, we found role models in real people like our parents or teachers or grandparents or the local cop, doctor, librarian, horse rancher, pilot, whatever. The direct market, along with Scholastic and library sales, were band-aids on a decades old gaping wound. Crowdfunding has had the same issues that Image did decades ago with late, cancelled, and/or subpar products. The saddest part is that I've know people for years who drag around portfolios and constantly draw things trying to get noticed and have a successful career in comics. And despite all those years of hard work and hoping and praying, IF they ever land a job, it will pay less than working at Walmart. People just don't want to be told they have unrealistic dreams and should probably get a regular job that actually pays a wage. Also have met many people who want to be anime dub voice actors, like the ones they see at cons. They don't realize the esteemed actors they see have three regular jobs and deliver pizza every night while they live in a trailer, because dubbing voice work doesn't pay. The voice actor wouldn't even be at the con except the con paid to fly them in and the actor is actually worried because they will miss out on their weekend job back home. And these people want THAT as a career? Yikes.
Scholastic is hit or miss. Half the stuff in my son's flier this year was calked full of "the message" and he just wants an adventure story. We are buying books for him all the time but rarely from Scholastic book fairs. Which is sad, I loved those back in the 80s and 90s.

I went to Indigo (Canada's Borders) yesterday for the first time in a while. The manga section was about five or six shelving units, double sided, so ten to twelve racks in total. Graphic novels? Two racks. The comics industry can fudge the numbers, but book stores know what's up. I wanted to grab Frieren #1 because I enjoyed the anime, but it was sold out.
I remember the guide to comics. I loved thew articles. Casting call. Back then I was optimistic. I never truly trusted the price guide. Research. One word advice. TAAO. Till All Are One.

I already have a game plan in how I’m going to get my comic book out there when it’s published. Got several directions to go to help market it myself. Everywhere I have worked, whenever the topic comes up, I’ll show them my progress in the series I’m going to release. 9/10 folks are excited to see it. I can really push it and when book 2 comes out, I’m looking forward to more opportunities. The indie comic industry can still grow and flourish!
If comics were always “woke”, why have so many of them been changed for “modern audiences”? If the “modern audience” is real and not just a made up concept, why don’t comics sell anymore?
As long as these industries get their money from venture capital or other outside investors and not the customers, they will continue to produce this crap. Once the investor money is gone the company will either shift or close up. In DC and Marvel's case, the movies are the outside investor source and they will crap producing crap until the movies finally dry up.
it's honestly surprising that Disney and Warner didn't flatout shutdown the Comic Divisions outright, they have the IPs, no need to keep 'em, fact their still running is surprising
I wonder if it's connected.... Comics making their characters lame and gay along with women complaining that they cannot find men for relationships and marriage
Marvel and DC Comics turned themselves into Atari 2.0, a pioneer that's now forgotten but for a logo seen on retro games. Overinvesting in products NOBODY WANTED, ignoring sales numbers that definitively proved NOBODY WANTED their products- will not have a different result for Marvel and DC Comics, than it did for Atari. American companies keep push their own customers towards foreign imports- Nintendo and Sega in Atari's case, Kadokawa and other manga publishers in Marvel and DC Comics' cases- driving themselves to bankruptcy this way. The "sugar daddies" keeping the comic book companies afloat- Disney and Warner Bros.- are themselves facing bankruptcy after repeating the EXACT SAME MISTAKES.

Even in the store i work at, they ask why we haven't been able to make the same amount of profits as we did when everyone was panic shopping for the lock down, 4 years later
Comics are directly related to what has happened to Disney. The people in control have eliminated the people who can create a product that customers want to buy. Comic sales have collapsed, and Disney movies play in empty theaters. Still, the corporate leadership can't seem to learn. It is as if these "business people" are not interested in making money. For years, Disney and comics have despised the customers that they need in order to turn a profit. Let these woke companies burn. But it is too bad that those who helped to make Disney and comics a success are now suffering. What can be done for them?

Don't expect some random on youtube to do it for you. So many people have gotten way too comfirtable with that. Or just believe me, which I wouldn't recommend. See for yourself.
Bluey released an episode that got both children and adults crying because it tries to tell a story, not just pandering.
There was an article that stated they're forcing the creators of bluey to make it more woke
The creators of Bluey were told to input more of the MESSAGE, so be prepared for the show to fall off the rails
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lplikely not going to happen
I feel that episode serves as Bluey's final episode.
If I could wish all the Politics, Ideology, ID Issues etc. out of Modern Comic Books, I would.

Kids are smarter than folks give them credit. They know what kinds of products or shows or games they want. Obviously it isn’t this slop.
@@ComposedSage75its all pandering to people that aren't interested in the stories.
Even japan did... say Akira kenjou and Cure Wing, it's very difficult to both develop and marketing around the characters without lose focus
@@SakuraMita45Akira is not very good. Cure Wing is really like Tarte as Cure Pine from Fresh, making him better for the story.
What does attractive have anything to do with it
Of course, people who make kids comic know and never forgot: make comics fun and exciting. It's a rule of thumb
At this point, after learning about the industry, I'm glad the thing is dying and am surprised it didn't happen sooner. It needs to be reset to zero and start over.

Our local libary got rid off these comic books that pushed out LGBT+ stuff coz nobody got them and kids boys & girls would dump on them was hilarious.
Deserved 🤣
I can't blame the librarian for doing away with them.
the probable reason is because the writing is so bad its not worth the paper its printed on.

No sane man would read that woke agenda driven book. Every single person knows who Superman is.

Well, talk about irony that both Marvel & DC was being chewed out by Kids comics.
Steer clear of a lot of Scholastic books, there is lots toxic woke tripe in many of them, not unlike that seen in Marvel and DC Comics.
Theres a old saying that goes
"Be nice to your kids because they choose the nursing home."
The comicbook industry better straightened up or or they will be destroyed
This generation of kids barely even likes cartoons or comic books and they put nothing but trash into all of it and think people will fall for it. 😂
It’s a shame that the current roster of showrunners and writers just use the entertainment platforms they have been given to be a personal therapy substitute, an outlet for their fetishes, and a means to deliver their political messages.

So wait, Superman's son is gay and Batman's son is gay? Just anything to ruin legacies of straight male superheroes.
This crap starts with one person with an agenda. He's gay and now that he's an editor at DC, he's gonna make characters he can relate to. And he did exactly that. The managers at DC stood silent and allowed it.

speaking as a gen z, these people seem to think that representation matters to people, that they need to see themselves in these things to enjoy them. well, then the reason i don't buy their stuff is because i don't see myself represented. as a straight white gen z male, i don't see myself represented in these comics/movies/tv shows/video games so im not gonna purchase them. because it's not about the story or the characters (or the gameplay in case of video games) all of that doesn't matter as much as representation right? so i won't buy star wars outlaws, im not buying the next spiderman game because it will star miles morales, i won't get flintlock siege of dawn. because nothing but representation matters right? but of course, i am not the demographic that they want to represent. they don't want my money, because they see me as a horrible person because of my race, gender and sexual preference. well, i hope there are enough people that they want to represent or enough masochists to keep their companies from shutting down, because there are tons of people who aren't just gonna sit there and continue to give them money just so they can tell us that we are horrible people for existing.
TV was just entertainment. Sure we would play like Batman out in the yard but that was just for fun, and nobody actually expected it to be a real goal. We watched Popeye on TV and never wanted to be like that. We just enjoyed it.

As long as these industries get their money from venture capital or other outside investors and not the customers, they will continue to produce this crap. Once the investor money is gone the company will either shift or close up.
In DC and Marvel's case, the movies are the outside investor source and they will crap producing crap until the movies finally dry up.
