Their eyes were watching God is a movie as well. Halle Berry played the lady who was married three times it was a really great movie!!!
It sure is and I’m ashamed that I still haven’t watched it 🤦🏾♀️
Assata’s book is a must read. I would like to add that for me it was a difficult and painful read as a black woman, so take your time when reading it💛 her story and place in history is powerful.
Oh 100%. I had to take breaks at times because it was A LOT but so very important.
Something about their eyes were watching God triggers me lol like it emotionally moves me because of the growth aspect, that was from the movie. Now I will get the book.
Okay you get the book and I will FINALLY watch the movie! Lol deal
@@ChocolateCoveredPages deal! LOL
As a lifelong book reader this is very helpful.
I’m so glad! There’s so many I am working on part 2.
Just to say thanks as I started reading Sula on the back of this vids recommendation. 1/3 of the way in and I'm 😯! (in a good way) I had to close the book to recover n pause for thought lol
😂 I don’t blame you. Even once the book is done you will need a lot of time for reflection. Thank you for coming back to let me know!
I’m new to your channel and I loving it and I actually would love to read these books as well. I have read the women of Brewster Place. Thank you for the!!

Such a good list! Gloria naylor is so slept on. I need to read the men of brewster place. There were so many things i didnt like about teacake. New subbie hope youre still making videos. Winter was immature the secret lives of church ladies i loved.
Yes ma’am more videos coming soon. Thanks for subscribing! And yes agreed agreed. When people rave about teacake I be sooo confused. I too, need to read the men of Brewster place.
Linden Hills is a good read too!
Loved Deesha's book. What about "Girl Woman Other" by Bernardine Evaristo?
I do own that one but I haven’t read it yet. You recommend it?
Great list! Thank you!
Thanks for watching ❤️❤️
Difficult read, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” by Maya Angelou. Read it in college as part of my Women’s History course. Still thought provoking after so many years.
Do you have a list for 14/15 age group? Movies and books?
That one is on my forever list to read. Yes, I have the teen version of this coming in a couple weeks. Stay tuned! I don’t really do movies here
@@ChocolateCoveredPages I would appreciate that. Last year, I sent my nieces the book and movie, “Hidden Figures.” But it would great to have more!
Dang. You increased my to read list
That’s Always my intent 😊
🫰🏾🫰🏾Excellent recommendation’s I have read them All and loved them with your passion. 😅 Everybody should as You Say Read Them All. 👏🏾👏🏾🤗💚
Yesss I’ll have to make a part 2 so I can make sure you get new recs!
Wow love this channel ❤
🙏🏾 thank you for watching!
Personally, I found Their Eyes Were Watching God difficult to read because of the broken English. Might give it another try..I have 6 Audible credits I'm trying to use up, so trying to get good recommendations.
Yes and because of that I find Zora’s books are best taken in by audio. Well I hope you’ve gotten some good recs!
@@ChocolateCoveredPages I did, thanks!

❤️❤️☺️☺️ thanks for subscribing!
Sahwnttasmth you too love you too love book 📖 see❤
OK, I am going to come out of left field with this. I am not a woman and do not go to church.
Black Man's Burden (1961) by Mack Reynolds
That book was written by a White man. So definitely left field. I wonder if a Black man, or woman, could have gotten it published back then. But you do not have to buy it. It is free on the Internet.
Assata is the book that might relate to this one best.
Look at the global economy and chip war witj China. Consider the technology you use for your BookTube. I used to work for IBM and my smartphone still amazes me.
Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics by Stan Gibilisco
I wish someone had given me something like that when I was in 7th grade.
Hi beautiful! I’m so happy I found your channel. I have been wanting to read more this past year and I see reading vlogs but not anyone who looks like us, so I searched books for black women and there you were. 🫶🏾 You have totally peaked my interest. I think I want to start with Assata. I’m pretty sure it’s because I enjoy quick reads online about people and actual events lol. Sula will be right after 😅 New Subbie 💕 keep going my sis! ✨
Awww thank you so much love. That’s what actually made me want to get on here girl. Assata then Sula?? Oh you want to really shake the table! Enjoy ☺️
@@ChocolateCoveredPages lol I know right! Thank you girl 🥰
