i was struggling with "hyped" romance recs, but recently go into urban/black romance and it just hits differently. representation matters. I'm enjoying romance again
I prefer to read black and interracial romance books.I'm married to a native american man have a hard time finding a native american man/black woman romance book and I personally don't think interracial romance is better. I also love your nails.Back in 2015 I read books by only black authors for 2 years and it was the best.Thank you so much for making this list beautiful :)
I really wish authors would switch it uppp like interracial doesn't only have to be BWWM or flipped lol. As the years go on I hope we get more variety. You're so welcome ♥️
@bayoumuddah A sweet story centering a Black woman and a Native American man is Dancing on the Edge of the Roof by Sheila Williams. The second book recommendation that features a Black woman and a Native American man is a romance/suspense novel. The book is part of a three-book series by Constance Gilliam called the Lakota Series. The first book is called Lakota Dreaming. Dancing on the Edge of the Roof is a light, fun book, while Lakota Dreaming is a darker story with romance mixed in.
This is such an important topic and it keeps circling back every once in a while, and while too many people mouth off about it, nobody who complains can back up their blah-blah or is doing any research. You came with receipts and I hope your video gets a lot of traction!💖💖💖🎉
Thanks so much for the recommendations!!! And yeah you def right about the laziness factor. Honestly I wasn't even searching for black/urban book recommendations some just started popping up on my recommended feed as I was scrolling through RUclips. So anyone saying it's hard..it's not lol. Y'all need to stop acting like our phones don't be listening to us lmao 🤣 just talk about it enough and something will pop up in your phone
Found your channel because I'm floundering in my writing - I'm subscribing because I love your little co-host back there! I love it that I'm not the only grown black woman with a pet turtle! Same kind too - a yellow-belly slider :)
🥳 I agree Capri, the Books are out there, We just need to expand are searches. A lot of the Your recommendations, I too have read and love 💗 Yes, support All the Indie Author’s their there. Blackity Black Black love is out there and are good relatable stories.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Not me with a notebook and pen watching this. I've heard so many of these great books but not a couple. Love this video! And also tired of the anti-Black love people...
another recommendation (which is a fave and I reread sections of it all of the time) is Guarding Temptation by Talia Hibbert. it’s 118 pages and she is his best friend’s younger sister. that sex scene at the end?????? runs my mind the majority of the time. 🎉
Do a Jelouse possessive black romance recommendation list plz 🙌🏾 Devout by Takerra Allen was 🎉🎉 5 stars in my book list ✨️ chefs kiss! I love when the men take control and aren't willing to loose.
Is that a turtle omg🥹so cuuuute. Okay I've read a few of the books reccomended so I'm super excited to add more titles to my tbr I already know they gonna EAT. I love love but black love?? I LOVE BLACK LOVE and it's so refreshing reading black romance that doesn't centre black pain. Thank you for this video❤️❤️
i loved this video sm. not only did it open up some great opportunities to new books, but it also shed light on some of the issues when it comes to people perceiving romance books with black mcs. i added lots of these recs to my tbr!!
I'm glad I tuned into this video I've been wanting some recs this was great! And THAT rant at the beginning NEEDED you spoke no lies. Ooooo girl you included a Halloween or spooky 👻 season novella theme LOVE IT 👻 🎃. 🎊🎊🎊 🥳 🎉 🙌🏿 well executed video for sure
🎉🎉🎉 Make a Scene (I read of her books after that one and I wasn’t disappointed), Go Deep, and Treble were THOSE girls. I love them! I have By the Book and Charming as a Verb, I’m sooooo excited to get to them cuz they sound so cute!
Some good black romance authors if you like good stories: Iris Bolling, Brenda Jackson , Vivian Rose Lee, D Camille, AshleyNicole , Melanie Schuster, Francis. Ray, Gwynne Foster, Sharon Blount, Sharon C Cooper, Delaney Diamond. If you start here other authors will come up
I was definitely a lazy reader a couple of years ago. I’m not a huge romance reader in general but I when I do pick it up, most of the time it is Black romance. It’s so easy to find, especially if you follow the right people. In 2023 I think I want to do a challenge for myself to only read Black authors. I hope your reading went great this year with your challenge to only read Black authors. 🎉
definitely going to come back to this list when i’m ready to read more romance. and unfortunately, i don’t ever think the nonsense is gonna stop. too many people thrive on it, too many people like the attention.
Thank you so much for this recommendation video 👏🏾 especially the author recs, Silver lining sounds pretty interesting and I found one by D.Rose called The Vow that I’m gonna read soon.
I have a black romance you made love. My eleventh novel, Baby Girl. It is a sweet story. However, I do write Interracial Romance as well, but there will be more black romance stories by me coming soon.
Hiiii, I loooved this video 🤩 Also, I don't know if you've read Alight by A.H Cunningham. One of my faves, I think you might like it. oh and Go deep and Treat 🔥🔥
YES Thank You! Thank You!! Thank You!!! Because Mafia romances irritate me (there are a few exceptions but the majority of them are too clique). I love black love romances, especially when the female main character is plus size.
@caprisbookisland Girl, as soon as I saw you (another beautiful black woman), I didn't hesitate to subscribe and watch this video. Supporting other black women is my jam!.
“But y’all eat up mafia romances” FACTS!!! just say y’all got biases/anti-black and go
These be the same girls eating up them trauma filled Colleen Hoover romances
Eating that shit right up smh
i was struggling with "hyped" romance recs, but recently go into urban/black romance and it just hits differently. representation matters. I'm enjoying romance again
yeah it really does lol I hope you found some here to check out
Yes!!! Beverly Jenkins is PHENOMENAL! I wrote to her back when I was 13 😂, and SHE WROTE BACK!!!! Definitely recommend her books!
These comments got me crying 🤣🤣 I like black romance
That’s all I read and love em ❤
Once again the systemic racism when it comes to books with black characters. I like you came with receipts.

Also the water in the background - very soothing
Freely admit I am too lazy to sort past the violent BWBM books in my very vanilla suburb. Keep the shortcuts coming!
Found your channel because I'm floundering in my writing - I'm subscribing because I love your little co-host back there! I love it that I'm not the only grown black woman with a pet turtle! Same kind too - a yellow-belly slider :)
Lol not too many people have pet turtles 💕😭 her name is Pebblez 🐢
