This is so amazing!!! I love watching that slider move hahaha. It must be so wonderful to be involved in the making of a pedal like this and seeing it change along the way!!! Also I LOVED that Modest Mouse-type riff at the end!!!! Wow!
I’ve got to get one of these after Christmas. This is absolutely in my wheelhouse. I loved the take on The World At Large, that’s one of my favorite Modest Mouse songs.
This isn’t a demo. It’s a video of Andy having some serious fun. This is such an amazing sounding delay. You were the right person to show off what it could do, Andy.
Fire coming from your fingers, cause that was one hell of an intro. Sounds beautiful. That preamp, the control parameters over time, repeat, warp, and tone darkening make this a versatile instrument, while still sounding vintage. *and presets
We need to start a petition to get Andy off youtube. Plays an absolute banger of an intro, shows off an absolutely awesome pedal and all of its features. Then sonically bestowed upon me one of the best renditions of a Modest Mouse song ever like he was casually choosing what to have for breakfast. I can't afford for you being this good. I was broke five pedals ago, now I want this one too.
In a different way seems like the analog version of the app Guass that was also a collaboration between two people, an unique and creative effects app developer with a intensely unique, in the best of ways, and creative audio artist. I have the app and defiantly recommend it, I also want this
Holy cow, that thing is amazing! Now I just have to figure out how to buy one without my family questioning my sanity for buying another expensive pedal - I'm worried they'll try to have me committed.......
World at large! Just what I needed. Just as exciting as when you played Donde esta la playa when demoing the chicken Spring over ten years ago. :D At first though, I thought you were gonna play Beetlebum, haha.
Such a cool pedal. I have a hard time with those guts shots though (at 4:22 the little green board) ... it reminds me that it's just a circuit board built to hold a Teensy (4.1) with DSP programming. I'm just gonna pretend I didn't see that and enjoy those tape sounds. As always, great review.
@@hoover728 exactly what I said in the comments. It reminds me that it's just a Teensy with DSP code. As a developer, it makes a product look more like a prototype than a finished product BUT it's really not a big deal. In fact, the fact that the teensy is there means you can hack the shit out of this pedal with some code and DSP knowledge. Still, like is said before, this makes great sounds which means the DSP was well done.
That gut shot might make it look simplistic, but nearly everything is actually on the other side of the board. There is a lot more to it than meets the eye from the back, and most of the non-analog stuff is surface mount, so you won't see through holes on the back for those parts. I can think of a dozen advantages just off-hand to using a modularized processor, but just the added serviceability alone would make it worth doing. I'd hate to try to service one that used some horrible BGA package instead! Finally, saying "just a teensy" is like saying "just a supercar that can break the sound barrier" :)
@@geckopedals teensy's are super cool. Obviously you have mech sliders and some switching going on on the other side. I'm not trying to say there's no work here. Still a nice pedal. Just looks a little prototypesque without integrating the processor yourself. It's also a HUGE job to do that way and you're a small enterprise doing cool shit. Again. It doesn't matter at the end because it sounds great. I'll have one on my board 👍
Let me preface this by saying that his sounds awesome and clearly has a ton of craftsmanship put into it! Also it's hand made and is worth the money for that reason alone. Part of me can't help but think "okay but I can do almost all of this with the boss re 20 for half the price..."
Oh.my God. That's gorgeous and hand built just right up road from me. That will party very well on my board. We Oreonians must stick together and all hail the Modest Mouse.
I think Andy would be happy with a delay that you couldn't adjust anything but had a footswitch that would make it run away. He loves delay oscillation!
Looks cool! Only thing that seems might be troublesome is how close to the knobs the tap switches are. I could see myself accidentally bumping them when using the tap tempo.
Hold on, is that a Teensy as the main processor? I have never considered using one of those for dsp effects but this pedal is proof how great it can sound. That pedal is amazing!
I love how more pedals start appearing that use motorized faders. Using one to replicate the delay slider is absolutely genius! The only downside is that we will need some much beefier power supplies for our pedalboards than the ones available today.
@@AndyDemos 300 mA is really not bad for this kind of pedal, it's comparable to Strymon. When big DSP pedals first became a thing just a few years ago, guitar players had like one or two Strymon pedals on their pedalboard at max, which was already a lot for the power supplies that were available back then. But I guess, we are slowly starting to hit the limit of todays power supplies once again: The infamous "Strymon bridge" (Big Sky, Mobius, Timeline) isn't uncommon among pro players, more and more people rely on amp sims and multi effects pedals (HX Stomp/Iridium/...), loop switchers are as popular as never before and the amazing Automatone pedals by Chase Bliss draw more power than a entire board used to do. The Gigrig's modular power system seems to be about the only option that can really hold up to big pedalboards and that's crazy expensive. It's about time someone bridges the gap in the market by realising a fully integrated power supply that can handle up to 5 amps in total - there should be a business opportunity.
The toggle switches are very low profile so they will not interfere with the footswitches. This front-facing camera angle doesn't show that very well, so I can see how you would think that.
I haven't had a fader wear out yet! But if one does happen to wear out at some point, it would be very easy to swap it out, and I can service any part of them.
@@joshcarlton9184 If someone really wanted a spare, I would just have them send me an email before placing the order, and would just have them send the added expense of the part via PayPal. I honestly think people are being overly doubtful of the reliability. There are many other reliable pedals that use linear slides (tons of EQ pedals, the POG2, etc.)
How is it possible for another echoplex but no one will take their crack at the space echo?! Its probably the most famous of the tape delays but It’s just nux and boss that have one. That said this sounds great
The Strymon Volante does multi-head and reverb like a space echo. You might like the Echofix EF-X2 which is actual tape and an improvement over the Space in IMO. Thanks!
