Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it. I posted a pretty fun Great Gray trip a few months ago, if you're interested in watching that one too 😊
Gotta say man, not only did you create an engaging entertaining video, but that was by-far the best video/photography I've ever seen of a GGOs. Great job dude
Thanks so much, I really appreciate you watching and the kind feedback! If you liked this one, you should check out the more recent GGO two part series I came out with not long ago 😁 I think it's better in my opinion.
Had to stop part way through to comment. When you saw the owl and telling us how excited you was, any photographer who has suddenly came across their subject knows this feeling. I was excited with you! Also like your style of storytelling. You've got a new subscriber. 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, I really appreciate it! It was such a wonderful moment, one I won't soon forget. Thanks for following along, I hope you enjoy the videos!
It's funny that you mentioned Steve Mattheis. In one of your recent videos where you were asking for ideas, I was thinking a collab video with Jimmy and Steve would be pretty awesome. Then here you go plugging him a few weeks later. So there's my suggestion! And congrats on the wonderful evening with that Great Gray.
Haha, that would be fun, I've never done a collaboration before, don't know how beneficial it would be for Steve though 🤔😂 Thanks for the ideas and input, I always appreciate it!
Outstanding video and images Jimmy, this one puts you right up there with Steve Mattheis. The Great Grey is the number one critter on my bucket list, we don't have them on Vancouver Island, I did find out about 2 pairs of nesting GGOs in the interior of B.C. and was planning a trip that my friends had made but by the time I was able to go the heat dome had hit and the forest fires destroyed the area that the Owls were nesting in. At the time it was reported that the Owlets were old enough to safely leave the area. Hopefully they will return to a new area next spring. Thanks again for sharing your experiences and have an great week!!
Thank you Keith! I'm a total rookie with these guys, I really admire Steve for his knowledge and ethics with these birds and in general. That's sad to hear that the area burned, I sure hope all those Owls got out safely. I had a trip planned up that way for Owls and Loons a couple of years ago, but never could make it work. Maybe one of these years 🤔 Hope you're well and have been able to get out with all the craziness up there.
Jimmy I could tell you got a real buzz in finding and photographing the Great Grey owl. I agree that the golden yellow background of aspen is lovely. Well done👍
Nice, a new video! I really feel like watching it now! With your videos, you always come to rest and you can relax. Your videos are always very motivating and make me want to go out and shoot and make a new video 👍🏼💪🏼.
Thanks so much, I'm glad to hear it! Nature is just so relaxing and peaceful, I guess I do my best to try and capture that a bit 😊 Thanks for watching, hope you're having some great adventures out there, keep up the great work!
@@JimmyBreitenstein But often it’s not so easy to capture this moments. I had a lot of nice moments in Nature. For example: Last month I was outside to photograph birds and suddenly a deer stood 5 meters before me. It was incredible and I could make some good photos and recordings. 😊
Great job finding the owl. I agree, Great Grey Owls are my favorite as well. I have had the pleasure to photograph multiple GGO's including a few with the above mentioned, Steve Mattheis. Super good human and amazing photographer. Keep up the videos!
Thanks so much! We're lucky to be able to photograph these amazing birds, many people will never have the privilege of seeing one. That's awesome you got to shoot with Steve, seems like a great guy!
Great video Jimmy, just found you from a RUclips suggestion. I saw my first GGO last winter, I was able to get a few very good shots of it hunting. Can't wait to meet another one. You give no clue as to where you shot this. State maybe, region, not the exact location of course. Will subscribe to see some more.
Thank you! I'm glad you found the channel, glad to have you along! They're magnificent birds aren't they!? That's great that you got to photograph one last winter, that's always been a goal of mine. This was in some national forest in the western U.S., beautiful area! Again, thanks for the support, have a great day!
Jimmy that video kept getting better and better as it went. Congrats on all that. I found you on the wild and exposed podcast this week. Great there man!
Thanks so much for following along, I really appreciate it! That podcast is loads of fun, it was great to sit down and chat with them, thanks again for the support!
Thank you, much appreciated! They really are masters of camouflage. Sometimes I think about how many I've probably hiked right by and didn't even know it 🤔
I've been subscribed to Steve Matheis's channel for quite some time and he really does capture GGOs exceptionally well. Pretty much the go to photographer for them. However, your images here are also excellent Jimmy. Another very enjoyable video.
Thank you, Robert! Yeah, he's the master when it comes to Great Grays and just a great photographer overall! Hope you're doing well and getting out on some fun adventures!
Great video! I'm really happy you were able to find the owl ans spend some time with it. I hope to spend more time over the next few years trying to find owls in my neck of the woods. I see photos posted of them all the time, so I know they're around, but I don't know how to find them myself yet. I'm not sure if we have any Great Grays or not. I used to think we only had Great Horned Owls, but I've been learning we have a whole lot more than that. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Cheers from Maine. :) Paula
Thanks Paula, they sure are fun to watch and photograph! I wish you luck in your search for Owls. They can be tricky to find, but always worth the effort! Great Horned Owls are always fun, I'm sure you have some Screech Owls in you area as well, they're pretty widespread. Again, best of luck, be safe out there!
Beautiful! Was just researching them and came across your channel. Nice imagery. Did you state where you were? I’m headed to Grand Teton to try and find them. Any advice? Thanks!
Thanks! No I didn't mention location info. Grand Teton is a great place to start searching. Beyond the tips I mentioned in the video, I'd say just time and consistency in the field are really the secret weapons when it comes to finding these guys ☺️ Best of luck to you on your search!
I'm in the western states. Honestly, just what I talked about in this video. I've got some other videos as well about things to consider when looking for specific animals. Mostly it comes down to time and research in my opinion. Best of luck!
❤I appreciated your footage Thank you😊

Great pics, Jimmy. Perfect day. That autumn color is amazing, too. I need to get out your way in the fall at some point. Keep up the great work.

Majestic is right, they're truly amazing birds! Thank you for watching!
Great stuff! I'm learning a lot. And I love how you focus on doing things ethically. There isn't enough of that.
Thanks a bunch, Chris! That's the most important part of photography in my opinion. I'm glad that comes across in my videos. Have a great week!
Awesome video !! Glad I found the channel your sister Mary told me about.
I'm glad you found it as well! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it 😊 I'll have to thank Mary for sending you my way!
awesome shots jimmy. the owl is by far my favorite as well to shoot. its crazy how well they blend with there surroundings.
Thank you, much appreciated! They really are masters of camouflage. Sometimes I think about how many I've probably hiked right by and didn't even know it 🤔

@@JimmyBreitenstein Thanks - wish me luck!
Would you mind sharing the make of the top you are wearing, it looks great and lightweight. Thanks what a great video.
Yeah, of course. It's a Kings Camo top, I don't know if it has a specific name, but the pattern is desert shadow.
Thanks Jimmy appreciate it. 👍🏻
Finding a GGO is so amazing!! One owl that is high on my list so I'm kind of jealous to be honest 😁!
They're such amazing birds, it's not often I get to see them, but I'm thankful for each encounter! I hope you're able to see one sometime soon 😊
Not sure if you’re in the eastern US but what are some tips for searching for owls?
I'm in the western states. Honestly, just what I talked about in this video. I've got some other videos as well about things to consider when looking for specific animals. Mostly it comes down to time and research in my opinion. Best of luck!
How long did it take you to find one?
I looked for them for years before I finally found one.
Your hiking in sandals?
As often as I can 😁
Where is this area? Did you tell us somewhere?
Western U.S. No I didn't mention it anywhere, thanks for looking!
