Given the latest developments with price hike, I recon it is a perfect time for "Road to..." series to have glorious comeback. Plenty of Tech Tree lines to explore and for you to actually enjoy while making the content. And not to mention it was one of your finest works so far, because it was very clear for new players what certain lines are, and what aren't.
Yukikaze one of the best concealment of the Game missing her old good days after the Amatsukaze I think. Btw your decision at beginning is a huge step and I hear you. Hope to find our normal days in the game. It's very nice to see you with a new content Terry!
Always love your videos Terry. An interesting idea for a possible series of videos: A lot of premium ships, I wasn't aware of their "Achilles heel" until I actually got the ship. It would be educational for many, I think, to see videos focused on the weak aspects of premium ships.
For me, one of the biggest issues is the range of capabilities a ship brings. In randoms, a multirole ship that can compensate for team derp is always going to be more consistent in terms of wins than a specialised one.
Haha, I have this ship. I bought her when the British Destroyers were nerfed and Yukikaze was the only destroyer left with Fuel Smoke II. I did lose interest when Fuel Smoke II got nerfed from 15 seconds to 12 seconds, and I enjoy playing her during respawn due to her Sonar capability.
I think this is a good ship. A Kagero who can be used as a YOLOwagon. Torpedo not hit as hard as Kagero but still hit harder than other techline destroyers in the tier.
yukikaze is my go to ship when playing ranked battle😅 i take advantage of the concealment to get sneaky when capture area then pop fuel smoke if detected/launching torpedo on a target
I picked up the romulan warbird as it appeared to be a solid upgrade to an Akatski, plus I could put Mikawa on it and get more smoke and speed boost. Still struggled a bit.
I'm sorry... There are some comments here that actually say she's very good, due to the manoeuvrability, so maybe that's something you can work with. Personally, I don't think it makes up for the downshift in firepower, but hey, whatever you can make work 😉
Well at least Yorktown is a Yorktown class too, so there’s something, not that there are many more similarities. Kaga is the cv in the shippiard, that would be funny, sins you don’t have to fail your faiters.
@@FunandGameswithTerry the Kaga is in the shipyard currently, as is Ark Royal and Indomitable. Also, you could snag Saipan during the Mayo blitz pass a few months ago
Terry, I’d encourage you to sometimes look a little closer at the stats. Yukikaze is significantly more maneuverable than any other Japanese DD, it’s night and day. Her rudder shift is 10% faster than Kagero and she turns 1.2° more. When combined, she is nimble compared to them. That’s kind of her whole thing. Especially when you factor in you’ll take accel and speed as a leg bonus. :)
I know you will no longer deal with crate/sonar sweep ships, but I would love you to at least showcase how to deal against them. Recently I faced Oranje and had no idea those bombs do 25k damage in one air strike.
I wish Taiwan version destroyer Dan Yang have in game. . tier 10 Dan Yang should have 3 120mm american made 3 sec reload main gun .. extensive AA capabilities but no torpedo tube ..have many smoke .. plays almost like Friesland
Thanks for having integrity on the whole WG thing. And this new map is almost unplayable as it is. It might be ok for someone on shrooms or something. 🤷🏻♂️
@@FunandGameswithTerry oh, okay Thanks for this video, I'll probably save my titanium for next month May I ask you to review Albemarle (yes, we need to see great UK heavy cruiser experience). Got a Surrey with Jelicoe on it and it's not a bad ship, but only one smoke is disappointing. Also, it would be nice to see your thoughts about commonwealth cruisers which are currently (probably) in preview
Sir, I must disagree, Yukikaze torps are not that bad, they are still better than most other nations torps at tier VIII, sure nowadays is not as powerful as Amatsukaze but she still can hold on in a battle.
Terry... First let me say that i am a dd main. More specifically, ijn stealth line main. More than any other line. I was watching your comparison and yes i have also done that. You breezed over yukikaze's maneuverability as if it was a non-issue. Her maneuverability IS the defining difference between her and the rest of kagero ships. Another example is black benson vs benson, mayo and the chinese benson. Benson is the stock ship. Mayo has better guns. Black benson had the better maneuverability. Chinese benson has AA. So yes...yukikaze is a cut and paste ship but they gave it really good turning over the others. Just like black benson. And as a dd main, i value turning more than weapons. The ability to dodge is paramount. And that is what makes yukikaze better than the rest of her sisters.
Thanks for the input. I'm more of a cruiser/battlecruiser player, so always happy to hear from folks more focused on the other classes. Looking at the stats between Kagero and Yukikaze again, she gets a 0.3s turn time advantage, which from straight to hard over gives her 0.15s, which I think is negligible. The max traverse, once you're hard over on the rudder, is better, but she loses out in return on engine power, which I personally find more important for dodging. But let's address the elephant in the room. Kagero is a torpedoboat. She doesn't need great manoeuvrability, she needs speed, since ideally, I won't be spotted in a Kagero. Here, Yukikaze loses out across the board, with worse torpedoes, lower speed (engine boost). Ok, so maybe Yukikaze isn't a torpedo boat, then. Which is what I think they were trying to go for, by giving her fuel smokes, but then it's still a Kagero under the hood, with slow-turning guns, that doesn't really lend itself to the style imo. The important comparison isn't with Kagero, but with Lightning, who has a better base speed (albeit no boost), turns better on hard over, has better engines, and while the torps have lower alpha, she reloads a whopping 20s faster, which greatly improves her flexibility. When Yukikaze has dropped her torps, she's relegated to what feels, for me, like an uptiered Shiratsuyu - a ship that doesn't quite know what it wants to be, and gets outclassed by tech tree alternatives. For her to work for me, she'd need something like a mid-50s torpedo reload.
@ I think they should have given yukikaze a torp reload or 2… But back to what you were saying…it’s not negligible. That’s like the guys who say the extra 1% damage from exploit weakness skill is negligible. That 1% matters in a shootout when you both have a sliver of health..who’s next shot will be the one with exploit behind it? While the other guy sinks… So that turning is not negligible. You notice the benefit when you can dodge torps. If I were you, build yukikaze with engine acceleration and rudder 2. Speed on yukikaze comes from your ship elite bonus. Using the elite speed bonus means you don’t have to use speed module for 3rd slot. Yukikaze wants to turn. Let it. She will save you. Black benson too. Build her for rudder 1 and speed. Try it. Play all their sisters too and then tell me black benson and yukikaze are a dream. I promise
Great video Terry! I know it's an old line, but could you please go through the American DD line? We recently got a free Legendary Commander! Picard from the Star Trek Event! And his skills pair perfectly with the American DD line!

I do really want Yukikaze, I also have zero titanium at the moment, so if I did want it, I would have to grind a lot of titanium haha

Asashio, Amatsukaze, Yukikaze and Kagerō - WG is making all ships of the class xD
