LOVE the pan down to the tubedreamer with the name written on the bottom after everybody said they didn't know the name of it. Underrated camera guy move.
loved the honesty of mark when explaining that he needs to start record in his daw before noodling because he also does not know how to replicate the sounds that just came out of the speaker or when he shows us the loops he needs to be able to recreate stuff that was made in ways that are beyond the artists control where other artists just pretend to have superhuman powers, hats off to this guy!
I love how these videos give you the illusion that you can see how to sound like your heroes; but with IDLES you realize to do that you’ll need at least 20k worth of custom gear, mastery of your instrument from playing dive bars for years to no one, and a complete artistic union with a couple of your best friends that are all unique and driven. In summary, you’ll never sound like IDLES, they’re on another level and we’re lucky we’ve got them.
bailey is a god and funny enough he isnt really a musician he said in interviews diiv is just a little thing in his life and that guitar playing is a phase in his live. But he and cole are out here with the absoulte tones!!!
I was at the Boston House of Blues show where Lee's pink Tele got smashed! A girl in front of me ended up with the neck, and he waved to me from the front of the stage to try and get her attention to give it back. She ended up holding on to it and he made a motion from the front that said "yeah forget it" and smiled.
Clean split direct to the FOH desk. Darkglass preamp into a Sansamp preamp into The Hiwatt stack and the Fender stack. POG for the start of Colossus, a Fuzz War for the heavier bits and a Geiger Counter for the end of Rottweiler, if I remember correctly!
I snagged a Tele pro last year with covid stimulus money. My first electric guitar was a squire strat, then I got an epi les Paul, and then moved on to the LTD ec-1000. I like them all in their own way, but I didn’t think I’d love the Tele like I do. Hands down plays like a dream.
@@lovewillspill4460 all them witches, foals, king gizzard and the lizard wizard, karnivool, soen. Also not to mention the entire greek stoner rock revival that happened after 2010 and is still going
I just found out about this band today from Justin Hawkins’ channel, and whaddaya know, a rig rundown for this dope-ass band. I love their setup, especially the wall of HiWatt/Fender/Marshall.
Thanks to Premier Guitar for turning me on to this band in an article from an issue of the mag. I check out all the artists I've never heard of before that are featured in PG. Every once in a while I find something new I like.
OMG… I was watching this into the pedalboard section and thinking.. “Christ, someone save that Fender before it…. NNNOOOOO!!!! And then they just left it there! Lol 😂
Ran outta time ... the boys ate so much time that soundcheck got pushed a bit. We were so grateful to get as much time with them as we did. Lovely lads!
We've tried, but they don't feel comfortable speaking English on camera. Maybe we can get an interpreter to help! We love Boris (they were on the cover of PG in 2020) \m/
@@premierguitarThat's right! That was a great article y'all put out, and yeah I'm sure the language barrier plays a big factor. It's interesting because I spoke with Takeshi and Atsuo at a gig a couple of years back and the seemed to have a lot of facility with the language. Here's to hoping though.
Tom DL? Do you really imagine any parallel or influence? Do you mean because he uses a single pickup guitar?Or because he mentions seeing him? The basic approaches to song writing and playing are entirely different, as are the rest of the rig choices.
Their tones choices playing call and response style some of my favorite guitar sounds from a newer band in a while. Girl band or formerly know as also has or had unique guitar sounds that are fucked up but sometimes haunting and pretty
lmao, Fender falls down and everybody is just like eh, it'll live. That would have been toast if it was an angled neck such as a Les Paul lol. That stage must have been crappy to play on with all of that movement.

I wish I had a disgruntled Scotsmen to constantly and sarcastically interject into my conversations
Well, there’s certainly plenty of them available.
Beautiful words couldn’t have said it better
I’m gonna need Gavin making quips on all rig-rundowns going forward. That guy is gold.
Gavin's tech knowledge and comedic timing are the tops 😂
He used to work for the Vaccines but also Mogwai! Nice fella.
Seems like such a nice dude, wicked tech
How can you hear a word he's saying?
@@greenvelvet Ears
Idles ticket prices are 100% to pay for broken guitars and blown up amps. They're also one of the best live bands I've ever seen
Agreed, absolutely nuts live show
Explains the high as shit ticket prices. Not really punk rock of them.
@@deadredeyes tickets aren’t that mad high? I think I paid £40?
@@Sharkbate211 They've been sky high here in the states, sadly. Probably because of the largers venues they're playing at.
@@deadredeyes makes sense, I also got mine before covid, 2 albums ago, and it’s just been rescheduled over and over
This is the best Rig Rundown that I've ever seen. Mark, Lee and Gavin know exactly what they're talking about. I love Gavin's commentary!
LOVE the pan down to the tubedreamer with the name written on the bottom after everybody said they didn't know the name of it. Underrated camera guy move.
From now on if the guitarist does the rundown, the tech should be looming looking stressed.
I don't understand how the dude has a guitar with bad intonation and a guitar tech. Those 2 don't usually go together.
@@lilhoss1 cause the guitar with bad intonation isn't used to play songs that need a good intonation
I LOVE AN HOUR LONG RIG RUNDOWNS!!!!
We LOVE that YOU love it!
My favorite rig rundown in a long time, just because Lee was so light-hearted about everything...
Aw man Lee just seems like the sweetest guy on earth and Gavin is hilarious!

The friends and artistic union part is the hardest piece of gear to aquire
And it would be pretty lame if you just copied them imo.
Theyre not really that special guitarwise. Great band and all dont get me wrong.
Heard some of their stuff on Faction Punk and it sounded like absolute dog shit
just watch GENKS
Bummer no bass. These dudes can just go off because the Bass and drums are holding it down
i bet he would've if there'd been time
dev uses darkglass pedals and a fender jazz bass, he changes his strings every other show or so. that’s all the info i really have but hope it helps!
@@saulsausages thanks man
also those J basses have Duncan quarter pounder pickups in 'em. At least a couple of the main ones he uses do.
Dev does a lot of small rig rundowns on the AF gang facebook group.
For people who make very intense, frequently dark if not violent music, they really are a delightful, laid-back crowd,
Please do a rig rundown of DIIV’s Andrew Bailey!! His shoegazy/grungy distortion tones are so thick and powerful but yet, so soothing and rich.
Nicest guy too
Both him and Cole!!!
Agree
bailey is a god and funny enough he isnt really a musician he said in interviews diiv is just a little thing in his life and that guitar playing is a phase in his live. But he and cole are out here with the absoulte tones!!!
Sensational vid. Absolutely awesome guitar tech and guitarist and presenter.
Glad you liked it!
most unexpected, forever grateful! the world needs idles more than idles needs PG but thank you! mad respect great episode !
I saw Idles 6 weeks ago. My ears are still ringing.
I have no clue what they are talking about, but just like a grandpa I am happy to be included by watching this 💫
Love the long Rigrundowns! What a crazy journey!

Love how the guitar falls, he says it’ll be alright, but right after he changes a guitar because it doesn’t play in tune up the neck 😅

I see Joe Wilkinson has done well for himself after he got kicked out of Catsdown :)
