Good video and information. One other plus that I have observed is you don’t need as much space with the SkyTrak since it sits opposite the ball instead of behind. You only need to be able a safely swing the club.
Good concise video…thanks. At the end was you best take…practice to get better, play to have fun. I’ve had the original SkyTrak since a couple months before the pandemic and it’s very accurate as well. I do serious practice, bag mapping, challenges with the new software, then treat myself with a quick 9 on an awesome E6 course, like Oakmont. I can tell everyone it’s like a famous golf course closed its doors to everyone but you. Don’t have to worry about pace or distractions…other than the real world.
I have the Skytrak+ and my main complaints are it really struggles to pickup shots when you open the face with anything greater than 55 degrees. I'll hit my SW 5 times with an opened face and none of them will get picked up until I just hit it normally and then it has a better chance of being picked up. Also, it struggles with ball position sometimes. If I have the ball way up in front of my stance for a chip, it will sometimes not be able to read it. Not sure if it's my shoe color or what. And lastly, the unit doesn't give the Angle of Attack metric. This would be super useful, especially with driver. I've heard it collects the metric but the Skytrak app doesn't reveal it. I hope they can reveal it soon. Lastly, it seems to have some network issues from time to time. My network is stable for every device I own but sometimes the Skytrak+ just loses connectivity and can't regain it without a restart. So overall pretty good but for the money I'd expect the software to be a bit better. It feels janky at times. But when it's working right (and usually is) it's excellent. It just drops certain shots more often than it should and has connectivity issues at times.
I have the Skytrak+. A huge upgrade from using the Garmin R10. My only complaint is it always boots me off from network mode. Maybe 5-10 mins into a session it gets me off network mode. I did everything that Skytrak customer service suggested and it still doesn’t work. When I switch to Direct Mode, I have no issues other than I cannot use mirror mode to pair with my TV. I’m sure they’ll work out the bugs. It’s very minor and I’d still roll with this until even with the minor hiccups. Great video Matt!🏌🏽
I had that issue but the latest firmware update seems to have fixed it. It still drops connection sometimes though and I have to restart the unit. Direct Mode is good but then all your data isn't synced online. The E6 online portal is nice to review various metrics after a round and you can't do that when in Direct Mode. Can sync at a later time though.
@@nzamecnik roger that. Ironically enough I wanted to see just how long it would take to kick me off network mode after watching this video. 20 mins on the nose. Yea direct mode is better but it comes with a cost as well, things that you mentioned. I’m sure since it’s fairly new, they are working out all the kinks they know of. Also I’ve heard the new range and mini game features will roll out for home users throughout 2024. They are live now at most every Golftec locations… Can’t wait for those features to hit home user units!
I took 16 strokes and off my game in 16 months, with a Garmin At my level of play would A more expensive launch monitor have helped more? Maybe but I have it optimized and reads very true and good enough for me. Results were great for me. Update someday, maybe.
@@ekinjtizll No I meant what I said - it’s $500 per year for the Gold subscription on Bushnell and that is how you get club data and use GSPro which costs $250 per year.
I have the Skytrak+ and I did it for the club data. My golf pro uses Trakman. I’ve discovered that club data is off, especially swing path. Did you see a big difference?
One of the reasons I returned mine and downgraded to OG ST. Turns out ST+ doesn’t measure path. Only swing speed. Path is calculated. I also compared mine with trackman and it was way off.
good review and for me it’s very accurate when compared to my driving range distance and direction. It’s connects to wifi at start up no problem. Shot delay for me is by the time I focus from the hit to the screen the ball is in the air. Now with the new API on GSPRO I can putt and the misreads are few maybe 1-2 a round and those are from user error dead top or the “S” word. Club head data is really good which is a major feature the original didn't have.
OG skytrak owner. The only good thing the plus did is make the OG ~$1k used. An extra 2k for club head speed isnt worth it. I usually recommend to my friends who ask about cost to start cheap and then go all in once you determine the upgrades that are important to you. I still wish Uneekor had their whole lineup when I got started years ago.
@@CybekCusal the skytrak one club speed is calculated. Skytrak plus is measured. As you go up in price for simulator units more of the data is measured instead of calculated and displayed. The more measured data you have to calculate the shot the mores accurate the machine.
Man I wish there were more ways for people to win some of these launch monitors. Unfortunately I haven't come across anything that us regular golfers had a chance at. Anyway keep up the great work MSG!
Hey man, thanks for the review. I’m currently building an at home simulator in my garage and really doing my research on the right system I want to buy. The problem is I love this and all what you said but I do have a left handed golfer in my home so I would have to move it. Do you have an option that you would prefer to this at a good price point. I’m assuming the track man system is quite a bit higher in price. Any information or links to other videos would be very helpful thank you
I have the original skytrak and love it but I'm contemplating upgrading for the additional ball data. Great informative video as always but my wife may be mad at both of us soon.😂
Did you do a deeper dive into accuracy for short shots. The skills challenge sounds great for me to improve but is it accurate compared to Trackman? Thanks! I want a device that is accurate and will help me get better.
How does the dual Doppler work from the headon view like that? I thought Doppler field was best served from a down the line position to track the ball? Or maybe the doppler field instrument is on the side of the unit and is down the line in that setup, but is offset (but corrected with the optical measurements)? I don't have clue what I'm typing. Just freestyling!!! 😂
You’re a fool if you spend 3k for a skytrak instead of a Bushnell Launch Pro. Yes you need to add the subscription but it’s worth the little bit extra. Used BLPs are 2.5k easy
Some people say the complete opposite. Ive seen so many reviews and comparisons with no clear winner. Can you elaborate on why BLP is that much better? I don't care about the $500 subscription because I pay that with skytrak with game improvement and full e6.
Wow…I’ve had mine since just before the pandemic and it’s amazingly accurate with very few misreads. Misreads only on wedge shots when I forget to put the ball just in front of the red dot. I do connect SkyTrak to a computer with the USB connection vs WiFi.
@@Skyking6976 yea i'm not buying it. no way. how this company can tout track man accuracy should be punishable in court. i cant even putt on my cause when you get too close to it it triggers it and the ball goes 130 yards. trash.
I think we need a Mevo plus limited comparison!! Maybe the Bushnell, also.
Just picked one of these up for my home sim, it is a great launch monitor

For Inside use it is one of the best Simulator you can get for Average Home User. Brother has older Model and it has help both our games.
If you’re using it outside you need a shady spot, it struggles in the sun. I needed to swap to BLP because I don’t have indoor ceiling height.

Club face, club path, or any other data available?? I find these very important when grinding to get better.

Skytrak Plus is 100% more accurate than Trackman indoors in that setup. I would trust spin and spin axis more than Trackman.

Spend the extra 500 on a blp. Trust me I have them both.
Buddy has both as well and he says opposite.
Why do you say BLP?
I don't think Trackman is the best indoor unit. I wouldn't count it's numbers as the absolute "correct" numbers.
100% correct. TM is not accurate indoors. GC Quad is the gold standard.
