The all over prints and finale looks are standout yohji to me and why I’ll never get tired of his runways. “Masterful” is an understatement.

I've always liked the look of those oversized newspaperboy cap. Its not often you see someone wear them but I think that's part of the charm. Not everyone wears a full Yohji Yamamoto fit anyways, might as well wear something unique too
Would LOVE to see those caps styled with something else. Would be a really neat look for sure

Yep Yohji shows are all about the clothes. Big houses with financial investors are owned by conglomerates need buzz or they're forgotten. They need Pharrell & his celebrity friends stacked in the audience, wearing the product to try go viral to get sales. It's not about the clothes. Pharrell aint a designer lol.
I don’t think they’re good comparisons to make as both labels existed in different circles. But in the yohji shows they had I Tokyo whilst the country was closed due to Covid they had celebrities walk the runway, not notable to western audiences but the locals knew who they were. I suppose I see LV as more of some entertainment and fun, but also recognise it isn’t for me.
@@Jacargon yeah fair critique, I hear it. But I'm still making the comparison, it's firmly in my mind haha
Conglomerate labels are about spectacle, the show production & making moments & "it" pieces for social media flexing.
It's how they make big money today. Whereas Yohji I think has hardcore fans who will spend on mainline - but not forgetting the diffusion money maker lines.
Yeah I wonder how the company was restructured since they almost went bankrupt. Are the diffusions bringing in sufficient money etc.
