I've been an early fan and Shadows enthusiast since the release of Apache in '59. Much latter on, I discovered there were earlier recordings from The Drifters, renamed The Shadows, that were raw and more in the spirit of Rock n Roll. The melody were pieces of joy, the rhythm guitar track was barely audible on most tracks, that may have been the result of warn needles and low fidelity speakers, yet the bass was surprisingly rich and powerful. Occasionally showcased in Tunes like Quartermasters Stores and 36-24-36, but always there when in the hands of Jet Harris., soon to become my favorite Shadow. Bass is ace. As a citizen in a foreign land, live performances were nonexistent to rare. Live music therefore was then a cherish treat.Over time everything changes and The Shadows line-up were not immune from this truism. The cover pic on The Shadows self titled first album still remains the first self defining four color image. I made myself a promise to have the cover framed to hang on my living room wall, but after sixty years since then, my own indolence

She certainly was, remember her so well. Was learning to play Drums when "Diamonds" was out. Tony meehan think he was the 1st Shadows drummer. The chap who replaced Jet Harris was electrocuted playing his bass if I remember correctly 1966 I think. ( John Rostill).

I always thought at the time
But I've just looked back to her in her prime
      She was quirky pretty
      But drop dead gorgeous😮 NAH!
I guess black and white suited her
      Major dissappointment

Jet was one of the great bassists and is less well known than he deserved. His bass playing was legendary.

I had the privilege of a picture taken with Jet on their 50th anniversary with Billie on the same tour, which has pride of place on my music room wall. Lovely guy.

I find the interviewer a bit rude, he seems to get distracted and not appear to be given his guests his full attention...spoils it a bit

Really nice. I met Billie just the once, in early 1967 at the upstairs room of The Intrepid Fox pub in Warder Street. We were rehearsing Jet's new band in early 1967, and Billie was watching. I was well-pleased, because she seemed to like what she was hearing. Jet, quite a character back in those days.

This interviewer is the first person I have heard make a negative comment about Hank. He seemed like he was distracted and disinterested. A shame the woman was due proper respect.
