What beautiful, nicely put together horses, with sturdy legs and hooves. I am so impressed with the Freiberger calm demeanor. They had to pass bicyclists, tractors, cows with bells, and a train. They also went over a wooden bridge and through some water. A complete obstacle course! What a nice video!
One of the best videos yet! Beautiful location, sweet horses and cows, and awesome people. Loved how calm the horses were when the train went by. Congrats to your videographer, Pete!
Aaaaah I love that you came to ride Freibergers, thank you so much for this one! I've never been riding in Engadin, but I have been on tours with Freiberger horses in the Jura region of Switzerland, where the breed originates. And one of the lesson horses I spent about a decade working with is a Freiberger called Chocoletta
What a beautiful place and fantastic breed. It really has nerves out of steel, with the bullock approaching from the side and the train passing. I have heard from the Freiberger earlier, as they used a Freiberger stallion as blood refreshment for the hungarian lightweight draft called Muraközi. I haven't had the opportunity to ride one yet, but I would love to. 👍🏻It is also worth to come to Hungary, because there are many magnificent breeds here to discover. 🇭🇺 Greetings! 😊
Haven't been riding for a long time, due to some health issues. Those horses are so nice and calm that it makes me want to ride again. I live on the border with Switzerland, so could easily go there for a long weekend. I will keep it in mind 😀
So great, that you visited my beautiful country! The Engadin is my favorite place in switzerland. I have been riding quite a lot of Freiberger horses, such kind, level headed and sure-footed horses🐴❤
What a fantastic ride. Those cows being curious and wanting to say Hi🥰. I'm sure the great Swiss chocolate is made with their milk🥰. The place is absolutely stunning and those horses super gentle and calm. Amazing!! Thanks for another great video. Cheers from Silvana from South 🇺🇾
I was so looking forward to this video and it’s amazing! I have been in Switzerland a lot during my childhood but haven’t ridden there. I know the Freiberger as a breed but haven’t ridden one. They are really amazing horses. I am glad you had so much fun, the place and the horses looked amazing! A big thank you to Pete - this video especially had been amazing. It’s always an adventure to ride along with you - especially this time!
This takes me back a few years! My family moved to Western Switzerland when I was 12! I learned to ride horses there. I remember a common horse breed called “Franche Montagne”, is it the same breed? There was a breeding farm of those in my village. Just a bit higher up the side of the mountain. People weren’t super friendly with foreigners (they are friendlier to tourists). But everything else was amazing!!!
Like you're passing the river inn, you're in east Switzerland, but the breed is coming from northern west Switzerland in the jurassic mountains. They are called also horses of Jura, or franches montagnes,i think it means french mountains.😊
Franche montagnes doesnt mean french mountains but free mountains. In german they are also called freiberger. The breed originaly comes from the jura, franche montagne region. Has nothing to do with france.
You aren't kidding - those horses are bomb-proof. Granted, these are locals who are probably familiar with every noise, obstacle, cow, etc. But still, I was impressed.
Wow what an ASMR video ❤❤❤ Well done 😊 I enjoyed every second of it. Said it before, saying it again: The hoof clappering is the most calming sound ever. 🥰
That western saddle was beautiful. If I didnt know this was in Switzerland, I'd say you were riding a beautiful American Quarter Horse since they appear to be about the same size. The Freiberger Is so beautiful and very well mannered. I had never heard of them before.
What a wonderful breed and gorgeous place to ride! Thank you for taking us along. Is this breed considered a warmblood? Got that light draft thing going so I'm not sure.
Why oh why do people roach their manes ??? I hope there’s a good reason. But amazing ride !! Thanks for sharing !!! ❤️🐴❤️ Ps. That saddle pad you had on your ride was so pretty !!
The Freiberger is a real mountain horse and was (is still?) used by the swiss army - along with mules. The breed is very surefooted and sometimes wants to make its own choices - since it obviously knows better what the terrain is like than the human attached to it, the latter is adviced to follow his horse's proposal. 😅
Some FM (Franches-Montagnes or Free Mountains) horses shown were branded. These are horses that belong to the Swiss military, so-called Bündler (belonging to the Federation) and actually spend a recruit school and some weeks every year in military repetition courses (mainly transport of material in difficult terrain).
Thank you for this video. I used to LIVE in Switzerland, but I never took the opportunity to explore horse riding while I was there. Now I wish I had. Where in Switzerland was this? I have visited Frieburgh in Neutchatel. I lived in Zurich and my ex-husband is from Lausanne.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for visiting us! The video is a great reflection of our everyday life and the great horses ❤
Your ranch and horses are just awesome! Love the breed🫶😍
cute horses, beautiful country an nice people

Lived in Switzerland for a while, married a Swiss, but never headr of this breed, though I have heard of Freiburg. Neat!
You always have me in (happy) tears with how lovely your videos are.
That looks like a fabulous place to ride! The horses are super relaxed. Not sure what mine would make of cows with bells 😅
What a fantastic ride. Those cows being curious and wanting to say Hi🥰. I'm sure the great Swiss chocolate is made with their milk🥰.

Wow. What an incredible experience! The horses are so sweet. :)
Would love to see you come down to India one day and ride our native Kathiawari and Marwaris!

Yes, it's the same breed simply in French.
What a wonderful video - beautiful scenery and delightful horses!

Go Pete!
I always go to Austria or Italy for alpine riding, but this vid may inspire a swiss trip! Love these vids! Horses + travel = awesome
thank you spectacular
Alyssa, have you ever been in the Netherlands?
The Netherlands is a place of Friesian horses.
I know she has. Look thru her videos

Omg! It’s a frieberger!
I reckon that the monastery of Einsiedeln still breads his own horses
My beutiful horse is a Freiberger and she is the smartest and kindest, everthing on her is perfect. But she is a tiny one just 142 cm tall.
Mine is a gelding, quite big, 1,65m. He loves to climb in the woods. Best horse ever.
They all have sweet faces.
Why they don't have bells like the cows over there😅?
Why are the manes roached?
You should get a drone! please =)
Do they provide all the equipament, such as boots?
Can anyone describe what the gait of this breed is like? They look wonderful
Surefooted and comfortable. I know one mare that is also very very fast.
Swiss chocolate is good but much better is godiva and the belgian leonidas chocolates. And cote d'or chocolates.😊
The Freiberger is not listed in my ultimate horse book . 🤔
