Thank you for showing one of germany's precious endangered breeds. I personally hate to see so many unique breeds from our country end up endangered or get swallowed up by generalized breed registries/studbooks. I hope the Rottalers can escape that fate but seeing as there are only so few left I doubt it. Such a shame given how they are one of the old type, sturdy built warmbloods we have which have an almost spanish flair to them. I'm happy you found a breeder with a typical, old suburb type stable. Those are such cozy places and usually the nicest of people too~. I hope you enjoyed your time here and come back to look at more of our less known breeds. ☺
They look so much sturdier and stronger boned as opposed to most 'modern' warmbloods. I grew up riding some old fashioned german warmbloods back in the day, and they felt so much healthier and less fragile than lots of modern horses. We need to start asking ourself if we really want to sacrifice the health of our horses for some fancy ass movements...
I am surprised that this breed is endangered because they look like they would make excellent sport horses. What lovely conformation they have and they seem to have lovely dispositions as well. That foal was really outstanding! And the Stallion, well it's no wonder they kept him for breeding. He has it all, conformation, disposition and presence! Such nice gaits that mare has. I would love to have one of these horses.
What a delightful and gorgeous ride! And that foal - lol! Just when I would start to wonder if he was getting tired trying to keep up with everyone else, he would decide that "just" running wasn't good enough. A bit of low level flight would make things more interesting. That little tail flagged out....😍
That's a new breed to me but I suppose it makes sense there are small breeds all around in lands where the horse was a vital part of life for centuries. The Rottalers are fine looking horses.
Yes, you are finally in Germany, yay! I knew of the Rottaler Horse as a German. What I didn’t know was how endangered they are. I was so touched when you rode that young stallion, it felt so special to me as well!
I read about the Rottaler horses in a German book about rare domestic animal breeds. But I've never seen one in real life. Rottalers seem to be very relaxed and friendly horses.
First of all, a very interesting video about a beautiful, useful and, sadly, endangered race. I quote page 70 of Elwyn Hartley Edwards "The Larousse Guide to Horses and Ponies of the World", when he writes about the Bavarian Warmblood: "The Bavarian Warmblood was originally the chestnut warhorse of the Rott valley, the renowned Rottaler, the name being changed only recently. The Rottaler was well known at the time of the Crusades and, by 1500, was being bred systematically." Then Edwards writes that the Rottaler had infusions of Thoroughbred and Cleveland Bay blood and the result of this mixing was the Bavarian Warmblood, a race you could very well make a video about, don't you think? Thank you very much.
These are such gorgeous horses. I personally prefer the sturdier type of horse and would love to own one of these if I could. Thank you for taking us along on your journey and spreading awareness of these breeds.
I love them already !!! And she doesn’t have a job she’s living my dream ! Thank you for introducing me to this awesome horse !! In so sad there are so few but with effort I’m sure they will come back !! I’m ready to help and donate !!! ❤🐴❤️
Beautiful video giving tribute to those protecting and preserving these gorgeous horses!!! And oh my goodness that foal!!! So cute and sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a good Mama and what a sturdy big foal. Interesting how countries have their own horse breeds and how so many of them are in the throws of being lost. This Rottaler seems to have served their country in so many ways as did our Canadian Horse breed. Similar athletes. Love the look of this horse. I hope your spotlight on them helps in a positive way. Happy New Year girl friend ❣🐴🍾
No, this is my first time hearing of this breed. I love the colt’s energy and playful personality! Majestic creatures that I truly hope will not become extinct. ❤
this is so amazing that you raise awareness for the Rottaler horse! I grew up on a farm close to Landshut, lower Bavaria, so from the Rottalers region. We love the breed, many farmers used to own Rottaler horses I for farm work, carriage driving, riding as well as Norikers, . Rottalers are so beautiful!!
I remember reading about them in a horse magazine when I was younger! I loved them ever since even though I never had the pleasure of meeting one in person.
Such beautiful horses and moments. I notice their ears seem far apart, large and angle outward often while swiveling about. They look so sturdy. Love your series ❤
I don't think I ever heard of this breed. Thanks for finding a "new" one for us lol. They look like the most nondescript generic warmblood. or warmblood-quarter horse cross.
@@DiscoverTheHorse Here is an example: ruclips.net/video/oFmG3VacM8Y/видео.html By the way, the Groninger horse in the Netherlands is similar, so this stallion can cover Dutch mares.
Domesticated animals were bred for purpose and often that purpose no longer exist. I feel for the horse breeds that can never be used for purpose, but life goes on. Remember there was a time when horse breeds did not exist there was just different species that had evolved to match their climate and fauna and provide food for carnivores. You have a purpose and all animals need a purpose to live a life.
Wow I don't think I've ever seen a foal be taken out on a trail ride! I love it! There is so much debate in germany whether to keep foals and mares on the pasture full time or if working with the foals early on is better. I can say with certainty that this foal looks VERY healthy and I bet he's going to have a good endurance already once being able to be ridden. He will be used to being handled and he will be used to all spooky things of the outside world. I truely love this.

A wonderful family helping to resurrect the Rottaler breed. Beautiful warm bloods. Young Markant stole the show. 🐎

In Germany we call breeds like this "Schweres Warmblut" (heavy warmblood).

What a fine, fine breed this is. Just so sweet and graceful even as hardy as they are. That spicy little colt makes me laugh aloud too.
A breed well worth fostering back to higher numbers! It would be a shame to lose the bloodline entirely. 💜

Very good video! Hope you discover the Ostfriesen-Alt-Oldenburg horses too. You find them in the North West of Germany.
Thanks for watching! They are on my research list. Do you happen to know the Studbook/Registry website, or have suggestions for specific breeders?

I would suggest having the music quieter as i kept having to turn it down then back up to hear you speak

I have the impression when i see pictures on google that their back is lower than other breeds, or am i wrong? This must be near to Munich.
1 to 1,5 hours east of Munich.
@@Uncle_Jenny almost near salsburg?
@@Uncle_Jennyoh, now i could find galeria and rottal on the map
@@joannesmartens9442 Salzburg is more in the south. The region is called Rottal and is near Passau.

No I never heard of this breed.
They look on the smaller side. Probably why they’re not so sought after any longer. Jumpers want Tall horses😢
No I have not until now though anyway.
No I m not familiar with this breed.
