  • We’re going to cancel student debt! 30 million Americans will be eligible to have all or some their student loans forgiven. This new plan will cancel runaway interest, provide relief for borrowers who have been paying their loans for over 20 years and for 2 million borrowers who already qualify debt forgiveness programs but are not enrolled. It will even cancel debt for borrowers facing financial hardship, and much more. Stay tuned!

    These loans are not cancelled, but rather shifted to taxpayers, many of whom never had the opportunity to attend college and certainly never signed an agreement to pay these loans back. And this is so the borrowers can travel in Europe? Surely she’s not serious.

      how many canceled buisness get "shifted to taxpayers" - funny how when it comes to helping young people or people in general boomers want to cry "what about me" when its your generation that wrote the laws that lead to this mess. Borrowers arent "traveling to europe" they arent even traveling 30miles because they cant afford shit when promised that college will lead to a better economic opportunities. It has not, for many many student. Maybe for a sec youll think.. hmm theres way to many student loan holders whom are saying what they ordered is NOT what they got. Maybe its not the ones at the table thats the problem but the chef.

    It is a debt because someone made a decision and agreed to pay it back. The issue is not the debt but the sky-high cost of going to school, which has continued to increase unabated because the government is subsidizing it. Why is this trend continuing without discussion? Back to the debt question. First, the Supreme Court found Biden could not do this, and Polosi stated the President didn't have the authority to forgive student loans back on July 28, 2021! So why is this conversation continuing while the real issue is ignored? This all comes down to personal responsibility. This is not fair to any American, end of the story. This is a slap in the face for those who joined the military and served the country to get a reduced education cost benefit. This benefit has existed since WWII and has been a driving recruitment tool to fill our all-volunteer force. So now what? Why join the military when the government will erase the debit? What about parents who have given up a lot to fund their kid's education using the 529 program today so they can afford to go to school tomorrow. The 529 program requires an after-tax contribution to be used only for educational purposes. This is money taken out of their budget to fund education because it doesn't look like the cost will ever come down. What about those who have paid their loans or did not go to school. This is a selective payoff "Bribe" to pander to voters at the cost of all taxpayers. Those who did not go to school and do not have a degree will have to foot the bill for those who do have a degree. It is not fair or right, but that has not stopped the Biden administration. Could you address the costs and correct the actual issue? Doesn't this story sound similar to the Biden administration stating the border issues are due to issues with the Southern Hemisphere, issues Harris was supposed to be in charge of and report on, but she has done NOTHING.

      Yes because having an educated population benefits everyone not just the students. Additionally lifting people out debt benefits everyone because indebted people are less likely to spend money which dampens economic growth. Finally, u blame them for making the decision to take out loans to go to college but they did that when they were teenagers with the correct understanding that if u want to be important in this society you probably have to go to college

    • @DarleneTabler
      @DarleneTabler Месяц назад +2

      @@cyberneticsiren Your argument doesn't hold water. Many who went to college worked multiple jobs and paid back their loans. Why should they have to do that, and others do not. What about work experience, I've known many people who lost jobs because they didn't have a degree, and the job was given to those that did. Yet, with your logic, we should then turn around and "forgive" their loans. Also, the "forgiveness" is generally passed on to those in the work force. Not fair that a plumber (who did not get a loan or forgiveness of any kind), must then be taxed more to "forgive" someone else's student loan. If "we should lift people out of dept in order to spur the economy" why not forgive mortgage payments, childcare, or forgo taxes on the poor and middle class, so they can spur the economy? You say that they were young and made to feel that it was needed in order to get a good job. I get it. We are lied to about everything. But others who couldn't afford to go to college, didn't and they just powered through. Maybe they didn't fare so well in life either due to their choice. How do we compensate them? In addition, Education often equates to indoctrination. And lastly I stand by the fact that this is just a way to get votes. DC is a swamp and the people there are making millions off insider trading and so much more. This is just a ploy to stay in power.

If they are old the government garnishes their social security check. What other debt in America is like this? ----> Colleges know that the government will print checks to ANYONE and year after year they increase the tuition, because they know the government is going to pay. ---> Restoring bankruptcy puts too much risk on the government and gets them out of the loan business. So what's the long term plan for higher education in America? Will students continue to take out loans they can't afford and then continue to receive debt forgiveness 10, 20, 30, 40+ years from now? How will today's current students prevent this outcome of needing debt forgiveness in their futures? First of all, these loans are usurious. That needs to change now to prevent crises later. The loans need to be low interest, simple interest and non-usurious with simple repayment terms in plain English that borrowers can understand. No more chicanery in the student loan industry!

    • @viper2148

      Government sponsored student loans aren't "usurious". How much simpler can it be than, 'if you borrow money you have to pay it back'? As for the interest, it's entirely tax deductible. So, the interest rate is completely irrelevant.

Not one India owned Store in the state had to put in the 5 million dollar gas tanks Many local owners lost everything over this new regulations.. What's up with that standard... This is how they control gas prices from within the country.. Doesn't take long to research.. .

    Community colleges need to start offering bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees. If the institution is owned by the government, the government can decide how much it costs to keep those facilities running and offer free college. If we keep paying private colleges, they will just keep raising their prices higher and higher for more money. It would also give the government the ability to decide which degrees to offer. The ones that are necessary for a society to operate should be financially prioritized.
    The united states definitely does need free college though. Out of all the things this nation spends tax money on, education should be at the top of that list.

    a temporary feeling as though everyone is once again safe at home only for that feeling to leave again and for everyone to once again face the wasteland. it doesn't have to be this way and it never should have ended up this way. if ppl bite the hand that feeds instead of protecting and feeding the hand that feeds than expect to lose the hand that feeds instead of getting rich off of other ppls charity and since those ppl no longer donate that explains their ability to rise to a higher level instead of saving everyone else while their own goals in life went unfulfilled. who's really the neglectful ones??

    There's this mandatory course in the 1st semester of college that teaches you how to go to college. It goes into great detail about student loans, the different types of loans, the dangers of taking loans, and why you definitely don't wanna take advantage of them, etc. To whackademia's credit, they made it quite clear to me that banks are more generous than student loans. I know ya took this course, I know you even got an easy credit for learning what you apparently couldn't put into practice. It's very possible to graduate with little to no debt, but you kinda failed right out the gate, proving that you never belonged in higher education to begin with, didn't ya? So let's let the government cover it all, I doubt they'll want anything out of the deal.. like even more control over what an education even is.

    Wth, the new plan is not student loan forgiveness, it is student loan INTEREST forgiveness. The only way you get full forgiveness is if you made 20-25 years of consecutive payments towards your student loans, or 10 years of consecutive payments while in a PSLF qualifying job.
