  • BMW is refreshing the M3 sedan for 2025, giving its iconic performance car a blend of subtle yet significant updates. The mid-cycle changes include redesigned headlights, refined interior elements, and a notable power boost for the all-wheel drive Competition model.
The M3 Competition xDrive's engine management system has been reconfigured to increase its output by 20 horsepower, bringing the total to 523 horsepower. However, the torque remains unchanged at 479 pound-feet, which means the acceleration to 60 miles per hour still takes 3.4 seconds, the same as the 2024 model, according to BMW.
The rear-wheel drive 2025 M3 and M3 Competition models do not receive an increase in power. They continue to be powered by the S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine, producing 473 horsepower and 503 horsepower, respectively. All three models have a top speed of 155 miles per hour, which can be increased to 180 miles per hour with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The Competition models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the standard rear-wheel drive M3 offers a six-speed manual transmission. Braking is handled by six-piston front and single-piston rear calipers, with an option for M Carbon ceramic brakes that reduce weight by approximately 30 pounds compared to the standard discs.
Externally, the 2025 M3 features new LED headlights with combined low and high beams in a single module, complemented by two arrow-shaped LED units for daytime running lights and turn signals. An outlined M3 badge adorns the trunk lid, and new forged M alloy 825M wheels are available in a bright silver finish.
Inside, the sedan sports a redesigned, three-spoke flat-bottom M leather steering wheel, which can be optionally wrapped in Alcantara. The wheel includes revised spokes and a red 12 o'clock center marker. The latest BMW infotainment software, version 8.5, is also included, simplifying controls for the automatic climate system.
The 2025 M3 sedan is set to go on sale in July. The M3 and M3 Competition models retain the same manufacturer's suggested retail price as the 2024 versions, starting at $77,175 and $81,375, respectively. However, the destination charge has increased from $995 to $1,175. The M3 Competition xDrive is priced at $86,475, which is $1,000 more than its predecessor, including the updated destination charge.

False: there is no longer a rear wheel drive option. X drive is standard on all cars.

Nope, the standard m3 comes with only rwd while the competition comes with an active differential, which makes it able to switch between awd and rwd
