    Lovely thank you. If I can one day play my scale runs half as evenly and smoothly as you do I would be very happy. Please keep posting.

    It’s one of my favorites! This one, T&G, and Walfrid Kujala’s Vade Mecum. They’re all so thorough!

    Thanks for reinforcing the importance of playing/practicing in keys we don't like... (as a pianist, I'm talking to you, E major.... lol)!

    First of all, I can’t stop playing back these incredible performances! They don’t even sound like exercises but rather an extension of your voice! Are there books like this one that are more for beginners that I can purchase?

    Ohh I might try some of these myself (on violin) 😊 Just don't like the 8va sign.. Prefer it written out in ledger lines

    Loved the video! When practicing these, would you recommend going through all the keys of each exercise before moving to the next one or practicing a few keys from all of the exercises to work your way through?

    • @AprilClaytonflute
      @AprilClaytonflute  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I don't always practice these the same way. But as a short answer: most typically I play something like a page from each, then start the next exercise on the key where I left off - so I get through maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of each exercise before moving along, and I end up playing something in all keys maybe 3-4 times. I hope that makes sense! 😅

    Dear April,
    How do you recommend practicing these exercises? Would you say one should do all of them in one day or rather pick one or two and switch everyday or every second day?

    • @AprilClaytonflute
      @AprilClaytonflute  2 года назад +2

      That's a very good question! It definitely depends on the student/flutist, how long they've been working on these exercises, how long they have to practice each day, etc. When I warm up with this book, I tend to do some of all seven exercises. I might do about a page of each one. Often I will start with C major, but then as I go through the 7 exercises continue through the circle of fifths as well - so, maybe start number one with C major, then when I move on to number two I might be to something like D-flat major, then I might start number three with A major, then by number four I might be a bit past C major again to B-flat or E-flat, etc... I hope that makes sense!!

    Very good book. "Flute Players' Bible" is still the Bible however! 👼🤣
