    In the video I mentioned that I would paste the engine.ini text here. The description box character limit kept that from happening, so we now have two links to download below. My sincerest apologies!
    Below are TWO Links! One is for DX11 and the other for DX12. After downloading the API you're using, please remember to DELETE the (dx11) and/or (dx12) from the Engine.ini file name. The file should read Engine.ini for this to work. I only placed the API names in their as a descriptor.

    ✅Super Bright Lighting FIX:
    I had that same issue and corrected it. Search for "r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution" (remove the quotes) and replace the number with 4096 instead of 2048. If it already has 4096, set your INGAME Shadow Resolution back to High instead of Low.

    I just want to say thank you for making this video. It was incredibly coherent and easy to follow, especially for someone like me who is not used to modding games. I have been wrestling with stuttering issues throughout my entire play-through on PC and it's been ridiculously annoying, almost to the point of being unplayable (especially during the INTERmission DLC, for some reason). Now i can finally play through it without wanting to tear my hair out. Thanks so much! ~

    This is by far the most helpful and comprehensive stutter fix for FFVIIR. Thank you for this! Though I don't think we should rely on fixes like these forever, Square Enix should take action for this. Though that's going to be a long while, NieR: Automata received a patch 4 years after the release date, but who knows, VIIR is a bigger title for Square. This sure does flat out the stuttering most of the time but not always, still the greatest nonetheless! I was having hell when cutscenes trigger, it's pure stuttering. Keep this up man, hope your channel will grow bigger sooner or later.

      @@oxfordkingI've also tested the lastest version of Hook mod (1.7), it works with the latest version of the game. Now there is still that annoying problem with brightness from the file you haved shared. Of course i've read all your comments and how to get rid of that max brightness in indoor zones (max settings on shadows) and yes it works but it's really weird to have to do all that. So the problem comes from either your settings you put inside or from the mod itself.
      I'm curious but where did you find all those settings you put inside, did you deduce them yourself and in that case are you sure those are the best settings possible ?
      Did you follow some instruction found somewhere else ?
      On the FFVIIHook page, on the Post section, someone has shared his own settings, i didn't try them by myself but when i read his script it doesn't have the same form than your script. It's pretty difficult to make a choice and to know if it's the best choice.

    First off, this is a great tutorial for folks that aren't familiar with modding/tweaking games like this. Great work.
    I wanted to add a bit of a tip that I haven't seen elsewhere online. It may be somewhat anecdotal, but if it helps even a single person out there then that's good enough for me.
    So I have 3 SSDs (2 of which are external). My main storage (as in my C: Drive) is a 2TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe. Knowing the issues that this game has, I preemptively installed it onto this drive thinking that without a doubt it would be the best option for the data streaming issues that this game suffers. As I was thinking about trying out some of the various mods, I had an idea and decided to INSTEAD move all the game files to one of my external SSDs (WD BLACK 2 TB, connected to a USB 3.2 Gen2 Port (10G)) and it made the stuttering when loading/transitioning to areas like Sector 8 almost entirely unnoticeable. Like to the point where you'll be running past the triggers deliberately and trying your hardest to actually notice it.
    I am not tech savvy enough to form a sort of hypothesis or some sort of conjecture as to why this works, but with what limited knowledge I do have it seems like (as with certain other games) that being on the C: Drive on Windows 10/11 may also interfere with the game's ability to pull files/resources from the directory folder. In any case, if you're looking for potential fixes and have an external SSD (with the necessary USB ports, otherwise it won't run at the advertised read/write speed) it may very well be worth a shot.

    Hey! Sorry if this is info you already know. Re. the 2 frames below refresh rate of the monitor: It's do do with how VRR works. The monitor can't go faster than it's panel speed so as soon as you hit the panel speed VSYNC re-enables and you're no longer using GSync. If you analyse the next gen consoles using VRR they do the same thing, with XBSX constantly outputting at 118Hz. Enable VSync in the Nvidia Control Panel (disable it in game), and keep the refresh rate below the monitor refresh rate (it fluctuates a bit hence the few frames), you'll be feeling the benefit of GSYNC.

      Hello! You're not a bother at all! From what I'm aware they patched the refresh rate in game which may not have an effect on the refresh rate of your monitor. My only recommendation would be to Max the Refresh Rate in your Control Panel - Nvidia for example, has a Max Frame Limiter built in now where you can cap the FPS to match the Game for a better, smoother experience.

      Yup, I mentioned this in the description box - the character limit in the description box hit its max limit when I tried and I didn't realize it was going to be an issue until after I made the recording. I had to pivot over to download links instead. I was very upset about that as I made a commitment in the video that I couldn't honor due to character limitiations.

    So I can choose between playing in dx11 and dx12? So I just need to choose one engine.ini file? And at the same time to always put the xintput as well? I noticed mine doesn’t have d3dx and d3dxuser file, do I need those too? Also is this compatible with the dynamic resolution mod, i have that PAK.

      Hello,
      I kindly recommend you rewatch the video - everything is explained with extreme detail
      If I didn't mention specific file names regarding your latter questions in the video then I would not worry about it as everything you need to know is in this video
      Please refer to my Pinned Comment on weird lighting, shadows, over bright lit areas / light sources - you'll know what I mean when/if you see it

    Excellent video - I've followed your instructions to get started. Just to note, the settings in the Engine DX12 file do not match what you showed in the video - was this intentional? For example, streaming pool size is set to 4608, rather than the 3000 you showed in the tutortial. Fullscreen mode is set to '0' but you mentioned setting it to '1' was a game changer. Could you please confirm if you've since found these to be better settings?
    Note - I can see another comment you've said that you get no stutters and don't use this anymore since patch 1.002, so will give that a go without these fixes first. Thanks.

    • @oxfordking
      @oxfordking  5 месяцев назад

      No that was not intentional and tbh I don't remember much of this Tutorial as it's been a hot minute - but I should have updates in the Pinned Comment as time went on. As for me, I didn't need this fix anymore but a lot of others still needed it so it's definitely a hit or miss and Hardware plays a factor as the newer PCI-e lanes open up the pipeline for how shader cache is managed. Older systems will struggle without this fix. It's not perfect but it's definitely better. Best test is Wall Market.

    Wow! Just tried this on my new rig and it's almost weird to see chapter 9 (Town that never sleeps) in smooth motion. There were crazy micro stutter all over the place and now there's none. Tried it on both API's and found that DX12 worked best (hard to beleive), since the DX11 continued hitching for me but DX12 didn't. Anyway, thanks!

    I realize this might be a stupid question but recently my GPU broke just as I wanted to install FF7 Remake. Well, I've been seeing tons of game-play of the game recently and for the hell of it downloaded the game. To my surprise the game opens to the start menu on my Integrated Graphics.
    I run a I5 4590 and the Graphics is the HD 4600
    My question is I've run into an error that states "Unreal Engine closed due to D3D being lost" what I wanted to know is is it possible for the game to play without a GPU since I've gotten to the title screen or is that all my Integrated Graphics can manage? I'm getting a new GPU two months from now and should I just throw in the towel till then or is there a fix?
    Also, I also installed Kingdom Hearts 3 and the game seems functionally playable for PS4 games. Considering they are both PS4 titles what separates them?

    • @oxfordking
      @oxfordking  17 дней назад +1

      That may be all your iGPU can manage honestly - once the game moves into rendering any 3D environments your game crashed. Sadly, you'll have to wait for your GPU. You can try to lower all settings to the lowest possible coupled with the lowest resolution to see if it boots up though just to test the limits of your iGPU

    Great Guide! Very clear and well explained. Quick question: The engine.ini files you uploaded in the description don't have the changes you decribed (poolsize=3000; maxtempmemoryallowed=64). Did you determine those changes are no longer necessary, or do you still recommend we make those changes to the files you shared? Thanks again!

    • @oxfordking
      @oxfordking  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the compliment and great question! So I ended up streaming this game after I made that guide and made adjustments along the way. The adjustments are in the file you see today. I didn't want to go back and record and already well received video (for me at least). IMO the latest ENGINE.ini I have on that video today is the smoothest experience.

      @@oxfordking How come you went back to 512 rather than 64?
      Unfortunately I'm encountering the super janky overly-white lighting problem and I cannot put on the high level shadows in game because it reduces the FPS to something in single digits.
      I didn't notice this happening when I used the Engine.ini direct from Nexusmods so now I'm trying to work out what's causing it.
      I have the single digit FPS problem with both inis.
      What's strange is I'm pretty sure earlier in the game I had the shadows set to high and it wasn't a problem. Maybe that was before I used any custom inis.
      Edit:
      Apparently the game freaks out if I change shadow settings in game but in the menu it's OK. Still doesn't run too well on high though.
      I'm encountering other problems. Any "flashback" style cutscene lags like crazy.
      And sometimes music is missing like in the collapsed expressway.
      Oddly my computer seems to dislike your ini file. I get better performance from the one downloaded from nexusmods directly. I have no idea why...

      @@DGneoseeker1 Are you running DX12 or DX11? I heard issues with Audio on DX12 is why I ask - I was using DX11 the whole time with no Audio issues.
      Use Low Shadows and follow my pinned comment on the Pool Size for the best solution.

      @@oxfordking Originally tried DX12 but currently I'm using DX11. The audio problems are at least reduced by turning every volume level in the menu to 1 and then turning it way up in windows to compensate. Doesn't get rid of it entirely though.
      I tried changing the shadow setting (set to low, reduced the number to match). It improved matters but the game freaked out and lagged like crazy when one of those seahorse enemies showed up in the collapsed expressway.
      So I tried using the ini from Nexusmods again and suddenly everything was much improved. I'm not sure what's going on.
      What definitely helped was updating my GPU driver. Still get some minor lag/audio crackle but things are mostly OK now.
      Nvidia did not help matters because the driver search on their website no longer finds the correct newest driver for my 980 Ti... I had to find it manually.

    I've installed everything as stated (from a previous video) and i changed the engine.ini, but i'm still having some micro stuttering, at random moments, it could be in heavy combats or just walking in town. i have i9 9900k, 32gb ram, RTX 3070 ti, all updated to latest version. don't know what to do...

    • @oxfordking
      @oxfordking  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it's your hardware - I went from an 11700k with stutters to 13900k with no stutters. The extra PCI-e Lanes on the newer processors really help manage Shader Caching. This was not optimized for the range of PCs at all. We shouldn't need to purchase cutting edge PC's for a PS4 game imho.
