I want that narrator to narrate my wedding. "Confident in appearance, but frightened under the skin, the lone man walks towards the dark prison known only as marriage"
Fiancée: "Wait... What did that narrator of yours just say about marriage?" >:( You: "Uh!... Um! Err... Nothing! Nothing... Just talking about how excited I am. Yeah. Narrator: "The young man squirmed dismally under the cold, withering glare of his domineering bride-to-be..." You: "Dude, no offense, but I totally need you to shut the hell up right about now..."
Mac Martin Yes it does. He knows what i means to be not mature, so he can just point it out. Though it can be also sad if someone who isn't mature can point one out for being immature. The system is whacked.

Well, good to see everyone's acting in Best Friends fashion. Pat is still master of being wrong at everything. Liam is being a powergamer supreme, and taking every moment to whinge about the game's set rules. And Woolie's just having a good time.
Fun fact: The Caretaker is not your grandpa. Your grandpa committed suicide in the intro. Also don't know where you got the part where all the mercs are related to gramps. they're all unrelated.
To those wondering, yes this game is only early access, but it *could* be fully released if they wanted to. Its that much of a game right now. They reason it is still in EA is because there are some more things they want to put into it as well as tweaks to be made from community input. As it is right now, it is easily a 40 hour game.
***** Feeling a bit like they're also sitting on the release to make people who didn't realize how long they'd be waiting after the game already went on sale would pay for it again to get their hands on it, despite already backing it on Kickstarter.
MikkoLovesGaming Perhaps, but the game as it stands is still a fairly fulfilling experience so the idea that more is on the way holds an appeal regardless.
For everyone thinking of getting the game, Pat didn't seem to understand that you click the shield underneath the character at the end of quest screen to get a new trait for that character.
Canteu04 You don't have to click it, that's just an easy way to see who got what during the dungeon, rather than going to each character to check for new traits. You get them no matter what.
Having a leper be the tank class is unique and thematically fitting. A leper tank would feel no pain (leprosy deadens skin and muscle nerves), but highly susceptible to infections since each and every cut and scrape would go unnoticed. Nowadays people who contract leprosy are trained to constantly monitor their bodies for damage and most have access to immediate medical attention. The stereotypical decaying leper cave dwellers was only true in the regions where priests pretended to be doctors. Priests didn't have the means nor the interest in keeping lepers healthy. "Sorry, you've been cursed by God, so go fuck off in that cave over there until you're a pile of goo."
Loopholes loopy Don't think it does say that anywhere, people just assume they are because they have breasts. Edit: Nah I was wrong, her character description calls her "she". :)
I really liked this game, but it was almost too brutal for learning. It was like if you got it right off then you were good, but if you needed to sort of learn you way up, you were fucked. You can always read tons of guides online and stuff, but that takes away a lot of the entertainment in games like this for me.
The game has offically been released. I'm looking forward to the inevitable follow-up LP, even if it isn't a full playthrough. Maybe they'll stream it, since they've just started doing that.
Jeedy Jay i m actualy enjoying the FFX playthrough, and someday i have to check the chrono trigger one when i get some time. But yeah, at least in that 2 games there is a constant plot and the can even invent new lore (praise great wizzard wakka), this is hard to do when its pretty much the same thing over and over and the 90% of the game is grinding.
Liam, killing it with the logical tips after not ever seeing the game. I feel like pat is empathizing with his party and feeling the stress as he continues. His resolve test would be be literacy, and he'd fail it every time.
You guys do really good commentary on this sort of game - especially bouncing suggestions and mechanics knowledge off each other; not saying we need a full LP of this, but it'd be awesome to see either a bit more of this or a revisit when the full release is out.
The Zaibatsu in Darkest Dungeon: *Matt the Crusader*: Matt likes hero types and having muscles, so the tanky crusader makes sense. *Pat the Highwayman*: Pat can sometimes make some controversial jokes. Gallow's Humor fits well. *Woolie the Bounty Hunter*: Wools tends to choose boss characters, and in a way, this is him. BH does big damage. *Liam the Jester*: Constantly uses Mockery on Pat. Takes risks with Heroic End.
You made this three years ago, but now I see Woolie as more of a Man-At-Arms, constantly telling Matt and Pat to get their shit together and get in formation.
You know what I kind of got reminded of, watching these? The Nuzlocke run. There's a lot of similar aspects, and the way these guys strategize is very similar.
Can I just say, Klei entertainments is one of the best god damn game production companies there is right now. These are people that care about their game AND care about the player base. Out-fucking-standing. 10/10
Hey guys, I played this game a bit. What's op right now is: Leper: Hew. Highwayman: Grapeshot. Vester: both healing skills. Almost always have a Vester in the back of a squad. Avoid Jester and GraveRobber. Most times, I like to embark with: 12 food, 2 bandages, 1 or 2 shovels- depending on if the level is small or big, 3-4 torches, 1 key(optional) Invest in the gold-reducing skills for upgrading and stress-reducing buildings early. Use camping as a way to reduce stress.
HOLY SHIT OMGOMGOMGOMG, i really didnt expect this. This is ALL ive been playing since it got released to the backers, its SO good. This is the best surprise ive gotten after a long day at work, possibly ever. *SQUEEEES with delight*
This is more dungeon crawling than Dark Souls, holy shit. This is the most dungeon-crawling-ist dungeon crawl game I've ever seen. I feel like I'm watching a old-school D&D session.
It's a totally valid complaint anyway. Not being able to use your skills outside of battle for no justifiable reason other than to make your game harder is bad design.
nobodysoldier25 There's a camping system that allows you to use skills and eat to restore food and sanity. You really shouldn't be running into problems on the short missions if you know what you're doing.
nobodysoldier25 It doesnt make sense, but the game would suffer irreparable damage if healing outside of combat existed like Liam suggests. They would have to design every encounter ASSUMING you had a healer top you off. thats garbage, healers would be mandatory. Maybe the gods of this universe only grant their healing power to people they feel are in dire need, and not just at any cleric's beck and call. Doesnt matter, game is undeniably better for it.
nobodysoldier25 It's not just to make the game harder either. If there were any kind of mana system that would mean there'd be a whole nother resource that you'd have to manage, and it might get to be too much at a certain point.
"Why can't my character heal out of battle?" ...because everyone has infinite MP, so you could just heal to max after every single battle & the game would become a cakewalk.

It's changed HUGELY since this video's come up-- and not just the new Cove dungeon being out, but major gameplay rebalances, Buffs and Debuffs and DoT (Damage over Time) all being made more viable for example, several new character classes came out and several old ones got better, it's a much more intense and satisfying experience now! Perhaps, but the game as it stands is still a fairly fulfilling experience so the idea that more is on the way holds an appeal regardless.
For everyone thinking of getting the game, Pat didn't seem to understand that you click the shield underneath the character at the end of quest screen to get a new trait for that character.
Don't forget it can be bad, so if you have a character where you want it can be better to leave it alone.(edit: looks like I was wrong)
Canteu04 It looked like the knight gained a quirk regardless of the clicking of the mask
Dauntless4Gaming you can gain quirks normally through dungeons and you can also get more quirks from end of dungeon
Pat is probably traumatised by shields after the "drop your shield" thing.
Canteu04 You don't have to click it, that's just an easy way to see who got what during the dungeon, rather than going to each character to check for new traits. You get them no matter what.

"Game over, man!" Hudson truly is the best example of being bereft of all hope. Good choice, Woolie.
Liam's Anime powers allow him to kick reason to the curb and do the impossible, and completely stop caring about RNG and dice rolls.
With Pat being too short to see the screen and Woolie being unable to read, they have no choice, but to take Liam's advice.
Liam has probability altering moe.
So is this what the guys were doing while Matt was playing No More Heroes by his lonesome?
Also the Plague Doctor is a woman.
hehehehe they sent her to the brothel
matt doesn't like rpgs hence why he doesnt partake in any of the rpg LPs

The scariest thing about this game is that it's an early access game that actually plays like a COMPLETE game.
A God-fearing grave robber? People can be complicated...

+Neptune Vasilias It's actually great if they name characters and try to not kill them ( and fail miserably )
ArteAlen but the game is sooooo long, and there is really not that much after repeating the same dungeon a few times. I have the game myself

I can't wait to pick this up for my vita. Been looking forward to this form the second I saw it.

THE DANKEST DUNGEON ON RUclips.
"Something doesn't look quite right" What do you mean? With the Bandit's TRAPPED chest? NAaaaaaaaah, it's FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINEEEEE.
This is more dungeon crawling than Dark Souls, holy shit. This is the most dungeon-crawling-ist dungeon crawl game I've ever seen. I feel like I'm watching a old-school D&D session.
Plague likes it in the back, it's cannon now, you've all heard it. Uncle Patt the Fiend himself said it.
This game has no mana system. Using heals outside of battle infinitely would be broken. Also holy shit Liam complain more.
He doesn't do anything that qualifies as complaining.
It's a totally valid complaint anyway. Not being able to use your skills outside of battle for no justifiable reason other than to make your game harder is bad design.

pat bringing his own brand of undefeated strategems from the xcom lp with Liam and woolie switching between idiocy and actual advice
The Order of Saint Lazarus was actually a religious order of knights with leprosy who tried to purify themselves by fighting for god.
That's metal as fuck.
The hypest LP of a game with the word dark in it on RUclips!
The Eternal Darkness LP spits in your general direction
I love the narration in this game. It's refreshing to see a really good Early Access game
Fifty-two delicious minutes of Darkest dungeoneering? I approve!
I need respite! I cannot bear to go down there again! My head is swimming!
*Pat sends him down there anyway*
I'm still waiting for the DLC "Darkest Dungeon: The Woolie Hole Edition"
This might be one of those games I get, play twice, and never touch again because it's so hard. 10/10.
We're so close to having a video for every single zaibatsu combination possible. All we need now is a Matt/Pat/Liam video.
There is already. D4
Capped Out Oh shit I forgot.
"Why can't my character heal out of battle?" ...because everyone has infinite MP, so you could just heal to max after every single battle & the game would become a cakewalk.
This is a great video! Love the game and commentary. More of this game when it's finished!
Such a great game. Dismas is carrying me through the whole thing so far
*Plague's basement jokes*

Guys, guys, guys. This game is OBVIOUSLY a Zone-tan origins story. Listen more closely to the wordings of the narration.
>Doesn't take bandages twice.
God damn it my OCD flares up every time I watch them play.
Remember if Plague of Gripes is in your party, you can always win.
I'm watching a bunch of people play this, but you guys are giving the hypest Darkest Dungeon gameplay on youtube.
Hope you guys consider doing the full game when it's formally released. Just sayin.
I actually managed to get a guy who was named Boivin, thanks Pat you went Crazy and dissed everyone else making them go crazy
Simple description of this game: The Oregon Trail of RPGs.
Sometimes, people just get dysentery.

"So your Grandpa had a billion kids..."
So this is a Madden Family simulator then?
Adrian The Vulture this is basically a recreation of the events in Madden Town.
"she bleeds alot"
-GREAT!!!
I leveled up my Hellion and she got Syphilis.

I am adoring the Quick Looks you've been giving cool indie games as of late, but this one looks too hype. THE SYSTEMS!
when you have one guy left, you stun him and heal your team for 20 rounds in a row. that is how you heal in this game.
It is fun to see this older version. So much has changed. Like the game punishing you for scumbag tactics.
Pat, the letter in the beginning narration is addressed to you as the player. And all the characters you play as are paid mercenaries that are hearing about the sick cash they can make by exploring a shitty old house. That's all I have to say!
man the game evolved soo much... it was so much easier back then ffs ;-;
impish looter arthur So we may get another XCOM 2 LP? Sounds like my kind of suffering.
we can only hope
I got this yesterday, It is so goddamn hype. I love it.
This game looks really cool, and the narrator sounds like Optimus Prime, which is nice.
I would honestly LOVE to see more of this as a series.
For those who are curious, Leper in this case does not mean he has leprosy. He's a social pariah. Someone you would not normally associate with for several reasons.
I challenge Pat to rewatch this episode after he's learned how to play the game and not facepalm at least 10 times.
I just added this to my steam wishlist 2 hours before this was uploaded, the zaibatsu never fails to amaze.
The best part of this is we all know part 2 will end in tears
Early access? Yeah, it is.
...but holy shit, this game is totally awesome.
The announcer ALONE is worth the purchase. :p
If Bloodborne had a narrator like this, I don't think my hardon for the game would ever go down, and I might have to see a doctor after playing for 4 hours.
Funny the suggestion of selling supplies back for a bit after a mission. Red Hook implemented exactly that later on.
I like how thing was 8 years ago but they' haven't changed a single bit lol
this couple of videos makes witness how pat's decision making abilities are so amazingly bad
Pat's resolve is being tested . . . *PARANOID*!
I really like this game, it seems like one of the games where backseat gaming is actually fun, and it gives off the ole D&D feel.
I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THOUGHT THE CRUSADER LOOKED LIKE OSCAR OF ASTORA. THANK YOU PAT.
To anyone who play this game :
Grave Robber + Grave Robber + Jester + Vestal + No Torch Runs, try this, it's fun.
I like how SBF Team have broaden their operations of just usual playthroughs funky games with providing kind of gaming social service of, as they say in Russia, "separating flies and cutlets", endorsing worthy games.

Pat - Occultist
Matt - Crusader
Woolie - Leper
Liam - Highwayman
Anyone else got better ideas?
Oh wow, just watching this is super addictive. Can't wait for this to come out, and also looking forward to more vids!
*EDIT*: Who was I even kidding, bought the game immediately after finishing the video. This is my first early access game, too - hope it goes well.
The animation in the beginning really reminds me of "The Begun of Tigtone" and thinking about it made me laugh during the whole thing.
