if our videos have helped you with photography or fillmmaking, can you share them with a pal or two you think might enjoy them, too? (we're not your moms, no pressure.)
Advice of the day: practice, practice, practice! 🤫
true and tested :)
@@ClassicPolly same here!
Thanks.

Over-edited photos is something I regularly see from non-photographer friends. They use awful Instagram-Filters that look extremely artificial...
I wonder how many people are going to take offence, before they take a second to learn something... Thanks Mango Street
that's what we say every week!
I'd like to think that very few will ^^
The more I learn the more I notice how my photos suck. Works for me.
00:21 YOU DON'T PLAN YOUR SHOOTS
*Get your model, lighting, outfit and location to reinforce the theme
00:55 YOU FOLLOW TRENDS TOO CLOSELY
*Add your own unique spin to whatever you do.
01:31 YOUR WHITE BALANCE IS OFF
*Keep skin tones natural
01:50 YOU DON'T PRIORITISE LIGHTING
*Don't mix temperatures
*Simply wait for the best light
02:49 YOUR PHOTOS DON'T SAY ANYTHING
*Find your passion
03:15 YOUR COMPOSITIONS ARE BORING
*Streams of light
*Textures
*The angle at which you shoot
*Other elements leading to subject
03:40 YOUR SUBJECT DOESN'T STAND OUT
*How angle and focal length affect subject
*Shallow depth of field
*Separate subject from background
########04:26 SKILL SHARE#######
05:23 YOUR PHOTOS ARE UNDER- OR OVER-EDITED
*Learn to edit in a way that suits your style
*Don't leave photos unedited
WOW!
This felt like making summary notes during study time.
Ezekiel Nduli thank you 🙂

I love how everything I learn from college just reinforces what I learned from Mango Street
You are never too experienced to hear such words. Thanks for the refresher course guys.
When I read the title I laughed so hard. I love how bluntly honest you guys are.
Wow the timing is perfect 😭
This video dropped at the right time, when i was getting frustrated that I wasn't doing anything new with my shots. Thanks guys!
love 2 b on time 🤝
You provide a solid background, which you also represent in the art you create. It’s always a pleasure to see your smiling faces!
thank you guys
This could also be a philosophical/psychological guideline for self-development. :))
Love the video!
I found you two at the start of the pandemic and since finding you two I've been into photography more, especially just doing random shoots. You always have some great advice on here
Loved the throwbacks to your old editing style, thanks for the tips and another great video
I thought I was doing pretty good until you got to 'Your Photos Don't Say Anything'. Then I immediately questioned all of my work.
Fantastic video! Definitely gave me something to think about. 👍
Great video as always... looking forward to the next one!
That separation tip was really great! I am guilty of not being always aware of this
this helped so much 😭
Great video as always. I think if you're improving everyone looks at their past work like "Sigh, why did I do it like that." For me the hardest part of photography is the last minute cancelations.
Yes Ma'am!!
I most definitely WILL put on a Playlist of your videos when I leave the house. Anything to support you guys 🤗
You guys are by far the best photography channel out there!
Rachel looks so happy in this video
this was shot right before we got our offer rejected on our dream house, so i'm back to being a puddle of soup 🤝
@@MangoStreet sorry to hear that
Mango street videos are the only videos where I dont skip the sponsor plug 🙏🏻!
Mango street has become my go-to feel-good channel in just 3 weeks. fantastic job you two, can't wait to see what you come up with next. Love from Denmark
tak! we wanna move to denmark so badly!
Thanks Mango Street. I've been watching your helpful videos for almost one year. I can say, I learned a lot. Thanks again. From Philippines. ❤
Thank you - glad I found you and this video. Spent a few years away from photography (sports mostly) due to recovering injuries and surgeries (disabled vet) and I miss being back out there - I hope to find my niche again. Therapeutic and creative - things I think I need again. Thank you.
I've been with them since they had less than 1k subs. Now they have a 1million subs. Congratulation you guys! ❤
You two are so cool
Thanks for the pep talk :')
you got it, champ.
I'm in love with Rachel's voice😍❤️.. Huge Fan✨
I really enjoy learning from your videos and applying photography knowledge to 3D animation, thanks Mango Street!
I’m just getting started again with photography with the Nikon Z5 and have been feeding on your videos! Thank you so much for the amazing tips and tutorials 🙌🏼
Great help guys thank you
i oddly perfer "why your photos suck" videos to "here's 7 ways to take better photos" hahaha. thankfully i'm not making these mistakes BUT this does make me want to shoot film. a little.
my favourite photography youtubers, thank you!
Great video. I definitely need to learn to edit my photos as I have some good images but they lack punch.
It's been two years that i've followed this channel and they still amaze and inspire me
Nice concise video, with good points. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
thank you guys ❤️ period
I love y’all’s creative style! Your videos are awsome and always helpful thanks for the hard work I greatly appreciate it
After many years of procrastinating, I finally did it.
I signed up for Skillshare with your link, broskis.
Thank you!just found your channel and just started taking pictures! Can't wait to put your knowledge to great use!
LOL at me seeing my own damn Skillshare class in the promo
Great tips!!! Love your videos and the wonderful experience you all share!!!
SOMETHING NICE!
and I'm actually gonna leave your guys playlist on tonight
Good reminders. I need to edit more (or at least a bit).
Glad I happened to see this while my infinite Mango Street playlist was looping through your more recent videos.
Also, "My Infinite Mango Street Playlist" is a great Wes Anderson film.
i like it.
I loved the outro by Rachel I thought about putting Mango Street on a looped playlist when I went to be last night but I likely would get distracted and binge all of your videos through the night -_-
Also I have re-watched this video several times today I am self aware to the issues I have with photography... Mainly I don't practice enough and I think all of my photos are crap.
To fix both of these issues I've been practicing more and using whatever camera I have. I just need to find time to go somewhere where I can find inspiration. Been wanting to go to the Arts District to support some coffee shops that I like or the beach so whenever I find that time I will do so!
Also congrats on launching a skillshare course next week!
I love how your work do its so amazing
Something nice.
Thanks for sharing knowledge 🙂
This is important for me becouse i feel my shoot is boring.. thanks anyway.. if there is more videos and explanation i would love to see..
Thank you. Your video has helped me a ton!!!
Dope video! Super useful!!
This really helped me a lot ! Thank you !✨🙌🏽
Outstanding!
Could you guys do a video about developing a style and being consistent? As a hobbyist that is something I'm struggling with and would love any tips so that it would help me in getting clients.
Exposure. 20 years ago, after spending a lot of time looking at the photos others posted on forums and trying to figure out why theirs were often better than mine, it hit me: their images had the exposure right. Of course composition, focus, correct shutter speed, depth of field are all important. But generally if you do all those right but exposure is off, pics will not look good.
20 years later I think I do better at exposure, but to be honest I think it’s because my cameras have better metering now than back then.
Would love to hear about Posing couple for prewedding
These guys take great photos
Thank you for this tbh you guys are so great at photography and just love how you guys tell us secrets or even ways i didn’t even know to get better at photography. My question is how do you stay inspired i been shooting for 3 years since this whole year started i stopped i feel like i don’t have it anymore
yeah, it's a huge effort to keep finding shoots to be excited about. we have a running list of "dream photoshoots," so whenever we have an opportunity to make one happen, it reinvigorates us until the next one 🤝
Love your videos, especially this one. Was very helpful.
this was too flipping' helpful thank you for this !!
Love this! Thank you!
My biggest problem is all of my friends are too camera shy to be my models for practice and I can't find anyone willing to work with someone who's still learning to take better photos. And I get demoralised when none of my friends wanna accompany me for shoots so I end up not going out at all.
You need new friends lol. But seriously just go out and shoot. Just respectfully ask to shoot people without being creepy. You'd be surprised how willing people will be and how cool they'll think it is that someone wants to photograph them.
@@sandramichelle76 as much as I'd like to its kind of a thing for people in my country to judge (typical asians) and I'm extremely shy with strangers, so it becomes doubly hard for me. I did try it once and the shut down by those I asked was kinda hard on me emotionally so I stuck to shooting friends when they wanted photos, which is pretty much a rare occasion.
thank you
I turned on the notification bell a split second before you said to hehe. Thanks for the content, I just discovered you guys today and I can already tell I'm going to have a good time :-)
to be honest i think yall should have 10 millions subs
That skillshare lesson was so good! thanks Ill be uploading my photo hopefully soon
We want more vid related to composition!!👍🏻🙏🏼
thanks for your efforts 🔥❤️
Hello! I was wondering if you guys would do a photography test with the new iPhone 12 and pro models please?
awesome video, thanks guys!
I love your checklist for the ending but also terrified of spiders...run!!
Awesome tips hope the spider situation worked out.
i launched it immediately into the ether and we haven't seen each other since.
love you channel Racheal
I LOVED THIS!!
THANK YOU :)
Something nice
Love the points you provided! What I found most interesting was the piece on editing photos. I’ve sometimes struggled to accept the role of editing photos because it sometimes felt as a different form of art. As a National Geographic worshipper, I sometimes felt that the highest/truest form of photography lied within the ability to capture the beauty and story entirely from the camera. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Awesome video. Thank you so much mentors. Love your work
Great video thanks!
You guys are awesome
Nice one. thanks!!!
I remember a time I would lower my hilights to min and increase my shadows to max when editing photos, ahh the period of flat images!
THANK YOU xxx
Love it! Ps, also been loving the other channels!!!
Great tips! That relates me sometimes.
Hey can u make something related to mobile photography .......everyone now is more into mobile photography as the present brands are giving such competitive camera specs, u should think about it....
we have about 46 videos about shooting photos on phones 😅
Thank you for this video!!
Still trying to reach point 5! Thanks for reminding me (:
oh gwen. always so lovely to see your face over here.
Thank you for this
gracias a marcos alberca llegue aqui, I love this!!!
Thanks for this.
I love the title..... i finally got to understand why my photos really suck! I am so bad at angles
Amazing tips as always
something nice
with joy 😁
love you guys
No the title made me LOL😂😂😂
Love your videos! Thank you! :)
Thanks for help us!!!
So, I am in photography already for zero months, zero days, but seems like getting caught by it. But all I could think of in this one was the flamingo wallpaper. Where, where did you get those??
LOVE THIS!!!
