Wonderful video Steph, so relaxing and the perfect amount of explanation regarding the different menus. The food looks gorgeous and beautifully presented. I loved that you explained the meanings of the names of the dining venues. I'd definitely be tempted to upgrade to the Gold menu.
Glad you enjoyed it! The food was amazing. you can still purchase items separately from the Gold menu without having to upgrade - which I think is a great option too.
Thank you for showing the beverage prices! Going on the Havila Capella next week and it's been virtually impossible to find that info anywhere. I was undecided about the non-alcoholic beverage package but it seems to be quite overpriced (considering the price of individual non-alcoholic drinks). Thank you again great videos!
oh i'm so pleased it's helped you. Have a wonderful time on Capella. The Havila Voyages fleet of ships are beautiful - i cant wait to sail with them again.
Hi again, it was an amazing trip. We did the two night Bergen-Trondheim and found it to be enough for a first-time cruise. Nights were a bit bumpy out at sea so that was quite the experience. But we had the opportunity of trying both restaurants and the bar. We did not go for the beverage package and we thought it was a smart option! @@CruiseWithAmber
thanks so much for updating me - yes, a small ship does bounce around a lot more than a large cruise ship. I'm really pleased to hear your found it an amazing trip. @@pela86
Thanks for this. My wife and I are seriously considering the 12-day trip this year and are very curious about the food options. This video answered many questions.
Really helped us decide our options and have booked for Fed 2024 the 12 day round trip. Can you clarify the cafe - are coffee, tea and snacks included with the 12 day cruise? And if you get a 50 unit alcohol package and say the last few days it has run out do you just charge to cabin and pay on departure rather than having to buy a package again ? Thank you for the whole video and food explanations and the regional varieties on the 12 day tour as well as an insight into the reason for some of the naming of rooms.
oh how wonderful! I'm sure you will have a memorable holiday on board. Ok, so on to your questions: Havly cafe: an prepackaged snacks and drinks are not included but all other items are. I think it is an offer for their anniversary year in 2023 so i'm unsure whether this will carry over next year. Drinks Package: yes - you can just purchase the drinks package and then pay as you go if you need to (say if you only have a day or two left and have used up all your drinks) but if you think you're going to need more half way through i think you can purchase another package (say 30 drinks) just check at reception. I hope that helped.
Am really am impressed you have done these videos on Havila with such clarity of information, thank you! Have not been able to find anywhere on the Havila site about the cost of drinks/food if you or how it all works if you choose to break down the voyage into 2 night voyages. I was close to giving up on it all until I watched your vids. Would like to travel to Trodenheim from Bergen and also Tromso and will probably skip Kirkenes. I think it will be dark 24/7 in December and may not see anything at all from the boat. Have also read on forums that the cruise from Tromso to Kirkenes and the excursions gets cancelled due to bad weather in winter. What time of year did you go and did you find Kirkenes interesting or is Tromso better? My main goal for Norway is to see the Northern Lights so will spend a few days in Tromso and possibly Alta as well.
thanks for watching and your lovely feedback. I'm so glad it was so helpful. I sailed in later February - we were still able to catch the northern lights on this voyage. Tromso is a wonderful place - we went on the Husky sledding excursion - and it was an amazing experience.
Hi I just came across your video very informative! My wife and I are planning on travelling from Bergen to Tromso port to port, will we be able to eat at any of the restaurants ala carte? Thank you
Well I’m so glad you found me. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment - it all helps get my little channel get out to more people to help them too. In answer to your question, I would suggest contacting Havila direct to confirm timings. But when I was on board, I know that you could add on a meal in the main restaurant a small cost and you could do this by booking in advance so that they can reserve a space/tae for you. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful journey!!
I am just starting to consider Havila for an October Northern Lights cruise and your videos have been so helpful. Thank you. As a solo traveler, the drinks package is way too much booze, even the small, so it will be by glass or bottle. Some cuise lines keep your opened bottle of wine for you until next meal. Do you know if they do this as well? Are any drinks available free in main dining room with the meal? Plain water from a pitcher, coffee or tea?
Glad it was helpful! Water was available in the dining room with all meals (Plus I think apple and orange juice too at breakfast if i remember correctly) along with standard teas and coffees. Standard tea and coffee was also available from the machines in the lounge. Plus there were coffee and tea facilities in the cabins too. I'm not sure about keeping the bottle open for the next meal - but you can ask.
Thank you for the great review. We are doing the 12 day round trip July 2024. What was you thoughts on the drink package vs day to day purchases? Do you know if the alcohol package includes any coverage for soft drinks, coffee?. As one commenter stated getting such information from Havila is difficult from the USA. Stateside support is very limited as of 2024.
Hi Leo 👋🏻thanks for watching, and your question. Like all drinks packages, it all depends on how much you drink. But the great thing with Havila drinks packages is that they come in various sizes and also they can be shared with another passenger - for example you can buy say 1 large drinks package and share it with the other person in your cabin (unlike other cruise lines) plus you can even order on board if you're undecided and want to have a proper look at the drinks menus when on board. Standard coffees and teas are already included in your fare. The Havila voyage packages works like a token system and each drink cost you 1 unit. I hope that helps. But let me know if you have any more questions - always happy to help. I'm very envious above your round trip voyage later this year by the way - have a wonderful time.
@@CruiseWithAmber Thanks for the quick reply and for developing a great review video. We depart on July 26 Capella. All the reviews I have seen so far indicate the food is exceptional, which I really look forward to experiencing. I'll be doing this during my 75th birthday with my wife. . By the way did you do any excursions? Example from Alsund to Molde via land (8+ hours)? This looks like a great excursion. We also landed the SeaView deluxe suite at the rear of the 4th deck with 30 sq meters (323 sq ft) which I believe has a window to the starboard side as well as AFT. Thanks again.
Great quality video. My wife and I just became aware of this cruise line and are eager to learn more from your videos. A shout out to Gary @ Tips for Travelers for pointing me to your channel.
thanks for the video ! I' am making the north voyage in a few days and I am considering taking the gold card. If I understand well, with the card, extras are included, without the card, you pay for the extra that are on the gold options, is ti?
Thanks for watching! Havila Voyages offers two main packages of beverages on board: One with alcohol and one without. So you would need to buy both packages. Or you could buy the alcoholic package and then pay as you go with the non alcoholic drinks. It's all depends on your preferences. The Non alcoholic drinks packages is available in 30, 40, or 50 units and alcoholic package is available in 50, 70 or 100 units. The packages are per unit and not per person - which I think is excellent. However any units you don't use are not refunded. The great thing is you can mix an match the packages depending on your preference - if you think you'll drink mainly soft drinks then you might want to but the larger non-alcoholic drinks package and then perhaps add on a smaller alcoholic drinks package. I hope that helps - but let me know if you have any other questions.
I'm not sure what this is in relation to in the dining guide but there's more information here on the beds - hopefully that will help. www.havilavoyages.com/faq/onboard-experience/cabins
You can reserve a table at the speciality dinning even if you're not on the Gold package - you just pay extra for it. If you have purchased the Gold package Hildring dining is part of the Gold Package (two evenings for round-voyage-travelers or one evening for North/South voyage-travelers).
As they have two more ships arrving to service the public from 23 of august im sure there will be no more cancelacion issues. Im sure they would be ready to give you a fantastic offer if you were to contact them about your previous uhappy experiences!
Thank you for this! Am going to have to watch my waistline before and after our trip!
