    Awesome video last year I only had 2 make it. I didn't make a very good net. So I have them in a storage container. Hope that's ok. When they get bigger I'll make sure I make a better net because all the big fish kept trying to get the food off the bottom and kept breaking it so hope for the best. thank you for your awesome video

    We just got 2 big Koi 3 days ago, one of them female and the other unsexed, I noticed the female was looking a little bloated when we got her but today there a TONS of fish eggs in the corner of our pond where they like to hide, they are a light blue color and covering all the roots of the pond plants. I’m not sure if they are koi eggs because we have a couple gold fish and minnows but they look too big to belong to them.

    My koi fish laid eggs.
    How will I know whether they are fertilized or not?

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures
      @TwinCitiesAdventures  2 года назад

      They usually fertilize the eggs immediately after they’re laid. In my pond they follow right behind the female and fertilized them right away and then shortly after they go around and try to eat all the eggs up.

    Is that a hoola hoop you used to put the floating plants in for the eggs to be laid on? I have mine in a floating net and guess I’ll be moving them into something where the roots are available for laying. It was very convenient they laid eggs on those roots. Any tips for that? Thanks

      You can get a pool noodle from the dollar store and some zip ties and a very fine netting. You can even cut the noodle in half down the middle to make a circle.

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures

      I went to the hardware store and purchased the material that you use for a screen door. It’s like a screen that’s made out of some sort of fabric, not metal.

    Does the water stink even after the eggs are laid? We separated our fish eggs in a bucket and put an o2 system for air but the water seems all white and stinky.. I don't know if the eggs will hatch ...:(

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures
      @TwinCitiesAdventures  Год назад +1

      Our pond water does not stink. I don’t know. I have never separated them from the pond. I always keep them in the pond in the same water, because eggs are fragile. I’ve never used an O2 system either…

    • @cameragg9752

      @Twin Cities Adventures yeah ,ours is small.we couldn't separate them like you did ...perhaps the eggs died then...they got white..Were transparent when laid first

      We put them in our garage in a big hundred gallon clay drum and we use bubblers and heaters you can see some of these videos on our Minnesota coupon playlist.ruclips.net/p/PLnr-dv2dinVEjdavak1Qd6yhB3FPHwgP3

    Quick question, once the eggs are stuck to the roots of the plant, have they already been fertilized?

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures
      @TwinCitiesAdventures  4 года назад +2

      No, the female squirts the eggs on to the roots. Separately the male Has to fertilize the eggs.

    • @RosheAnthonyProMUA
      @RosheAnthonyProMUA 4 года назад +1

      Twin Cities Adventures Oh okay so, I've made the hammock to protect them from getting eaten. If I put them back out, they'll eat the roots and the eggs! what should I doooo? 😫

      I really need a bunch of advice. I bought a home with a fairly large pond and really want to have happy koi 🥰

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures
      @TwinCitiesAdventures  4 года назад +1

      Once the fish squirts the eggs on to the roots of the plants and they have been fertilized do you want to pick them up and put them in a secure place like a water hammock that we built. Keep the plants in there until the eggs hatch once the eggs hatch you can start feeding them egg yolks that are hard boiled like we did in our playlist. Just watch our whole playlist called raising baby Cue fish and you’ll learn everything that you need to do. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

      Twin Cities Adventures AWESOME!!! I saw my first baby fry yesterday!!! I made an egg and fed him... Let's all pray he/she has siblings! I wish I could send pics but they won't attach here. Thank you so much for your guidance. You're more helpful than the people I've PAID to clean the pond! Wish Ya'll were local. I'll look for your videos on cleaning and maintaining as well. Starting to wonder if I need to have them empty the whole thing out every year as they do... Again thanks and I'll keep you updated. Tell your son from the video, GREAT JOB! 💥

    What netting did you use for your homemade water hammock? I made 3-4 spawning mops, and just moved my koi eggs on the mops in to an empty aquarium. Would love to do the hammock deal, but don't know what type of netting to use.

    • @TwinCitiesAdventures
      @TwinCitiesAdventures  4 года назад +1

      I just went to the hardware store and bought some screen for a screen window just make sure that it’s not metal or any kind of metal material I think it must be some kind of synthetic or polyester type material.

    • @ronanderson2937
      @ronanderson2937 4 года назад +1

      @@TwinCitiesAdventures Thanks for the reply. I moved my spawning mops in to an inside aquarium on 4/8/20, and today I have a lot of fry swimming around. May have been sitting in the koi pond for a couple of days. What I put up around my aquarium filter, was one of those netting bags that you get when you buy a pump for a pond. I just thought that the holes were a little large, but will see how this works. Seems about the same size holes/squares as a screen. I'll post some short clips when more start hatching! Thanks for your reply.
