    thanks for the video -I appreciate your deliberate style of instruction. I was under the impression that a car had 2 vvt solenoids. Even if it's 4 cylinder - am I wrong?

    Hi Andy, thank's for the video.
    My kia rio 2012 has a rough idle, I try to clean the ocv (by follow your video). Now the idle is good thank to you 😊.
    But Im still curious, is there only one ocv on kia rio?
    I saw on sportage they have 2 ocv

    Hi Andy, Fantastic video! I am running into some issues on my end and spent close to $2k+ through the parts cannon. Could you help?
    2012 Kia Forte 2.0L MPI Engine had P0011 code and would start, but had trouble accelerate under high RPM load. I also heard some knocking as RMP increase. So I did what anyone would and remove engine, disassemble and rebuild it. Lots of metal shavings in oil pickup and rod bearings are chewed up, mains are decent. Bored engine 20 over, new rods, new crank, 20 over pistons/rings, new timing chain kit, new oil pump, gaskets, spark plugs, valve job with new seals and adjustments. Engine has been assembled and installed. Start right up, but runs rough and P0011 still. Replaced OCV with new OEM OCV, issue still persists. Check wire harness for power, and reads ~8.3V key on engine off between the two connectors. Checked left wire to ground, reads 12.6, check right wire to ground reads 4.31V. Unplugged ecu and checked ecu pin wire to OCV connectors and no shorts to ground or shorted hot and ground. Any ideas what the issue could be? VVTI Gear was removed, disassembled and cleaned also.
    What do you think the issue is? ECU/PCM?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Год назад

      I don’t see that you replaced the time chain, that can also be the issue if it’s stretched/loose. Also, the ohms spec for the solenoid should be about 7.9 ohms.

    • @kesu90
      @kesu90 Год назад +1

      @@PhillipsVision the ocv solenoid read was 7.6 ohms. Timing chain, tensioner, guides were all replaced also. But with aftermarket part.

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Год назад +1

      @@kesu90 Sometimes aftermarket parts can be a problem, but not all the time. I use them a lot because manufacturer parts can be way too over priced. I have had some be below standard and cause problems. You may want to have a mechanic look at it.

    • @kesu90
      @kesu90 Год назад +1

      I will buy a second hand ecu for $40 and install first. If that is no go then OEM timing chain tensioner and guides will go on. So close!

      @@PhillipsVision Hi Andy! I have good new to report. After I swapped the ECU the issue still persisted with P0011, so I tried the old Oil Control Valve, and lo and behold the issue has been resolved! There was a little squeaking noise on start up, but that was because of a bad Serpentine Belt which has now been replaced. Tested the car on 100 mile drive around town and all the engine lights have all been resolved. Thank you again so much for your detailed video and keep up the great work in helping people!

    So I read somewhere else that if you get the codes P0018, P0302 & P0304 that you can have this problem, is that plausible?
    I have a 2007 Kia Sedona that for the past couple months randomly wouldn’t start. If you let it sit for awhile as well as jiggled a pink fuse it would start. So replaced the neutral safety switch. Then 5 days later while driving check engine light started flashing and it got very sluggish and kinda made a noise like it was weakly accelerating and decelerating. Code reader first said P0018, P0302, and P0304. Replaced ignition coils and plugs on 2 & 4 as well as put fuel injector cleaner in fuel tank...check engine light and codes still pop up but now it was P0018 & P0301-P0306. So replaced cam shaft sensor and still same codes/check engine light blinking but now it smells like gas/exhaust (not sure if this is due to fuel injector cleaner) So then replaced crank shaft sensor & got the original codes from the first time (P0018, P0302, and P0304) So decided to change the oil/ replace oil filter and now the codes are back to P0018, P0301-P0306 again. So really wondering what is going on. Do you think this could be vvt? If not do you have any other ideas what it could be? Thanks!

    Hello I have the code p0014

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Год назад

      This could be caused by the VVT being stuck open, or faulty. I would start with removing, cleaning and testing it. If it still is not functioning properly, you need to replace it. Do not keep driving the vehicle until it’s fixed. You can cause major damage.
