A snare drum at this level of quality and this price point not made in Asia is simply amazing. This could be ANYONE's primary snare. We visited Portsmouth for a few days this week and I was able to make it into the store twice, once alone and once with my wife and daughter. I was beyond impressed with British Drums and when my wife was with me the second time, they were the only ones that got her attention. She thought their finishes were stunning. Intro on this video was hysterical guys!
A+ for the intro. I'll be ordering one. I'll admit I overlooked this snare but I'm glad this video showed how sweet a drum it is... regardless of price!
When I first read the specs of the Raven when it was launched, I was astounded. As far as I could tell, it had all the things the rest of the range have, but it was about half the price. If this had been around last year when I bought my Big Softy, I'd have bought one of these instead. And I wouldn't have felt I'd compromised, I'd have been too busy just being pleased I owned a BDC drum and counting the money I'd saved. By the way. I pissed myself laughing at the intro. Great work fellas 👍😂
Love the video intro - more please 🤣 I own this drum - and it’s fantastic and have had good comments from the band and others. Fantastic snare at this price. I only live 40 miles from the factory in Stockport near Manchester- so have to support them. One of the first gigs I ever played in was in a pub called ‘The Raven’ (in Flint, North Wales) so it was another reason to give to my wife when I bought it. Thanks again guys 😀🥁🏴🥁👍🏼
Yes that does sound real good but unless I missed something in this video I did not hear what the price is for the drum, in American money so can you tell me what it cost please and if not I can look it up thank you.
@@jackenglish1041 here in the UK it’s around £300, but that’s with 20%vat(tax). That’s around $380 USD - but in general things are more expensive over here. Depends I guess where you live. 🥁
Love your videos and sense of humour, guys! Yes, the British Drum Company do make beautiful drums, with great attention to detail, they have kind of set a standard for others to follow. Even though I prefer metal snares, I have a 14" x 6.5" Big Softy, which is a lovely drum. It came with Remo (USA made) heads, which was a plus, and the drum itself is a cracker. Look forward to your next instalment.
When I was coming up in the 50’s & 60’s, if you didn’t play Ludwig, Rogers, Slingerland, Gretsch like some of the biggies, most others considered inferior. Out of the loop for decades in the military, but watching your channel for a few years, I really appreciate the education on how great these other drum makers really are. Thanks!
Just bought one of these snares from you guys and I have to say, it sounds incredible once I got it tuned up. I imagine it’ll sound even better once I change the heads, but impressive drum at this price point.
love the unnecessarily overproduced intro. snare sounded great except for that wonky frequency in the low tuning. def would EQ that out. love the finish on that legend set. if i didn't already have a great set of shells...... thanks for putting these out. they're entertaining and informative. i always check your videos on snares I'm thinking about obtaining.
Perfect in so many ways! Well done! At some point could you make an episode or two on orchestral snare drums at a reasonable price? I am thinking of Rob Knopper's videos. Thanks in advance!
I own a Raven for about a year and a half now and I am very satisfied. But to be honest, I had to get used to the Raven. It looks stunning, but it did not sound how I wanted it right away. I could not get used to the Overhead heads. They were just not my cup of tea. So I changed the batter head for a Fiberskyn 3 Medium and the reso for a Ambassador Clear. I tuned it medium to high and now it sounds good. In my experience the Raven does not sound very good when tuned low, but that could also be a matter of taste. Bottomline: it realy is a very good and good looking snare for the price. Ofcourse there are better snares, but not at this price point.
Woof. With headphones this thing sounds very clean and I can't tell if it is the drum head or the snare body? Do you sell those heads so we can compare them to the sound here? Thanks good video, crazy silly dopey, but good.
We actually don’t carry those heads, they’re kind of a UK thing. I own a similar British snare (Legend 14x8) and it sounds great with any premium head.
I was saying no to the low tuning until he put the wallet on it ,then it was oh yah! Does an empty wallet work as well cause well mine always is. I am extremely happy with my supraphonic but this sound and price has me definitely thinking..... 🤔
Not a bad sounding snare. Is that a 10-lug or an 8-lug snare? I know some companies use less lugs to help cut costs. Personally I like 8 lug snares better.
🥳I liked your intro. Adam brought up drums that look great, have good components, but sound terrible. I would add to the that easy to use (good lugs, hardware etc, components, etc etc), but sound like crap. Why not a 'top ten sounds like crap, but built really well and look amazing' video?
@@adamfrost3722 i'd like vendors to have a conversation about bringing back sparkles and glitters behind close doors. these bland solid paints do nothing under stage lights. spanky and exotic veneers are unnoticeable the further you walk away; you need not walk far.
@@jamesdennett196 I have one: I don't like birch snare drums. I don't like the "pre-compressed" and "boxy" (at times) quality that birch shell snare drums tend to have... As an habitual maple and thick metal shell user, my ear is used to more low end, more warmth and less of the high frequencies of the drum coming from the wires... I feel like that drum would MAYBE work for me with different wires and a double ply head (to warm up the sound), but it's generally not my thing. Otherwise, the thing is just too good to be true.

Get me one while you're at it.
Came for the demos, stayed for mixes, then came a second time for the highly entertaining stupidity. Bravo all around.
This sounds weird...
AMAZING! The production value y’all put into these is simply incredible!! Much respect! 🤙🥁💯
Wowza! I've never liked Birch snares, but that one has changed my mind!

I love this drum and the company and i love this guys playing
Because of the color and name I immediately thought of the mapex "the raven"
Loved the use of the wallet, gives you an idea of a more "dampened" sound

Man, this drum looks and sounds great! Definitely gonna be considering this one as my next buy from you guys. And that opening gag was hilarious 😂
Awesome! Thank you! Yeah, this drum is amazing!
Sweet snare drum! ✊
More intros like this!!!!

Pretty darned nice. And good job on the video, guys.

Hi Shane and Tony. Any chance of You picking up Premier ? They are finally under new ownership, and EMD is their USA Distributor. Thank You. Mike E.
Would watch this just for the intro 😂
Great Job Men!
I am a minute and a half in and I have never laughed so hard at a drum video in my life. 😂
Love the lugs. Reminds me of Ludwig. But the name Raven is a no because I’m a Steelers fan. Lol
Sounds great looks great.

Podcast please great fun post
So so cool 😎!!!!!!!
Is there a link to purchase Tom's wallet? :)
I bought one. It also comes with the stack of 1 dollar bills.
It’s actually a Canopus prototype
Sounds just as good if not better than my Sonor SQ1 snare at about half the cost.
Nice save one for me

In past videos you hyped up Tama snare drums, is this a fair comparison? Sound for Music or Sound for Professional theme?
How 'bout some more Merlins? Both the 6.5 and 5.5 thanks.
LOL...that was pretty awesome...

If they come out with a similarly focused set.. it's over
Tis' forbidden!
I feel a British invasion coming. British Drum Co. is the next big drum company for sure!
I hope they make a dampener for it.
LOL!! The Best
Do I need another snare drum? No.
Can I justify NOT getting a drum of this quality at this price? Also no.
I think you're right. You kind of have to come up with a really good reason NOT to get one. Incredible value.

No crows were hurt in the filming?
He is resting comfortably.

That’s what we’re saying!
Great video on the product but, you never say what the price is....
It's on the thumbnail, and in the video description. Also, the price may not be the same in a year.
