Did you add oil in cylinder? Is that normal that I flash a flashlight from intake hole and I can see light on exhaust hole? And can you tell why when I kick start sometimes it gets stuck and I have to turn motor with wrench and then it goes again?
Thank you for the response! I always make sure the rings are getting oil, and in some instances (like replacing the cylinder) I will add a light coat of oil... For the light, if the cam is on the "rock point" where the cam is hanging both the intake and exhaust valve slightly open at the same time, then it could happen... for the kick start issue....make sure there is nothing jammed up or damaged outside the case.... if there is, repair the issue... if not there could be something hanging up inside the case...
Hey I’ve got a question, so I’ve got a 2002 xr80r and I jus replaced the cam sprocket and cam bc the bolts broke and for some reason I can’t kick it with the cam on, it’s like the cam retainer doesn’t wanna fit onto the cam, what do I do? ( cam chain works fine
hey I just got a XR100 and I was riding it started going up hill then it randomly stalled and now it wont start with the kick start but will kinda start when bump started but will die imitately. I cleaned the carburetor and the air filter clean. it has spark. it has compression. when I try to kick it over it wants to start but it wont. and when kicking it the carburetor started pissing gass. idk what to do me and my friend who a mechanic both cant figured it out.... it's a HondaXR100 and I think its 2000 or 2003... PLES HELP..🕊🙌😥
@@jaylanecreations5503 the carburetors good I cleaned it and had a guy look at it he said it's the valves and timing so ima take it in to get it looked at cus we couldn't figur it out still.
@@driftingwithjesus5932 how is the spark and spark timing? What kind of compression are you getting? I spray some brake cleaner (yes, brake clean) as a fuel supplement and see what happens there as well... Let me know...
@@jaylanecreations5503 the spark is good. the compression is worse then it was but still has a lot. so I'm assuming it the timing or the valves. or it blew up but I'm doubting that. it's been in the shop for a day in a half now. so I'm just waiting to here back . and also while kicking it it dont start but when kicking it the exhaust gets hella hot so it still wants to start but it's not. so ims say valves and timing. idk I'm not a mechanic lol but I'll let you know when I figured it out.
@@driftingwithjesus5932 I am curious about the compression... On the Honda, the bent valve was very slight, enough to bleed out just enough pressure to have to pull start it with another vehicle....It would run after that, and run pretty decent... make sure the cam timing is good, and check the actual compression to compare to spec
Best clear, concise and up-close video on how to adjust and check the clearance of my valves on my Honda dirt bike. Thank you very much!
No Problem! Happy Trails!
amazing video I have an XR 100 1995....I need to do the same....BY MY SELF....FOR FIRST TIME.....HUGS FROM ARGENTINA.
awesome video thanks, think my valves need adjusted its kinda noisy, appreciate the clear shots
Thanks for the information I'm juggling 6 xr minis. I'm almost getting good at it..but i need to know the tricks
what would you like to know?
I'm the bad number subscriber . God bless everyone
What would make the valves switch operations like blowing out into the carb and out the air filter
This help me a lot thanks man
Glad to have helped!
Happy Trails!

What gear should you be in when performing this maintenance?

Sounds like a stuck float.... Pull the bowl and take a look...see if the needle is stuck...

Sounds like it also could be a slight bent valve. If you have 0 compression most likely it's a bent valve. Just say in.
Follow the Videos- Had compression, but was bleeding off at the intake valve- $25 dollar fix video goes into it
No valve timing in this video. Nice,
Whats the rings clearance
I don't have my book handy...

You got gas in that thing?
