  • some old speakers can have an issue where the foam edge around the cone gets dry-rotted and falls apart. This will limit the quality of the bass, and sometimes cause a scratchy or crackly noise. This video will be how to repair this. It works on every speaker with a foam edge, including the Realistic Nova 5, which are featured in this video.

    Ppl talk about his voice being funny, ppl talk about how his carpet looks...but who’s talking trash about what he’s teaching? Shame on you haters, always looking for a reason to judge someone else other than yourselves.

      Those mean commenters deserve to see the ugly concrete floor underneath that carpet. We’re renovating downstairs, so it’s perfect time!
      Also, imagine someone coming up to me and saying “your carpet sucks,” in real life. Strange, right! We’re completely different people on social media, and I’ve fallen into the RUclips vortex a few times myself. So addictive and unhealthy.
      I do believe how-to and creative (music, art) content is what RUclips was made for, and I really wish the algorithms would recommend that stuff to me more than the other meaningless content.

    Awesome video! I just recently found a pair of Realistic Nova 7B speakers in like new condition at a thrift shop. $40, which is more than I normally would pay but the condition is immaculate. They sound...amazing. Probably the best speaker I have ever heard.

    I used to have those speakers in my room when I was a kid. Used them for left/right rear.

    That Glue only lasts about 3-4 years at best.
    What if I have some DCM KX12's and 1 speaker has intermittent crackling from the 6" mid-range in the speaker. The 12" sub and 3.5" tweeter work fine. What is the best way to fix this issue?
    Or should I just get a B&W, Rockford Fosgate or JBL 4" replacement speaker and swap it?

    Thank you for this, I’m planning on selling some speakers that get this bad crackling sound. They’re about 7-8 years old, so maybe they just need this simply repair.

    I’m hearing a slight crackle in my right realistic speaker but only on certain notes in certain songs. Could this be the issue?

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628  2 года назад +1

      It could be the start of a very similar issue, yes. If you have the nova 4, 5, or 15, maybe another model with an 8 inch woofer made after 1980, they are prone to this issue. And yes, at the beginning of the issue you will only notice a crackle at high volumes or certain notes in the bass range. If it is to the point where it starts to break off like mine did, you will also notice the bass start to get tubby sounding and not as deep, mostly due to the tuning being changed by the hole letting air out of the box.

      You probably have the same issue. Most old GM cars had speakers with these foam edges. Being exposed to the elements really shortened the life of the foam of the speakers.
