I've watched Revenge of the Sith SO many times! But recently I watched the Battle over Coruscant in .25x speed and I found a LOT of hidden details that you miss while watching the movie at full speed. So, here's a compilation of all the different things I've found. Let's begin.

Idk how many know this so fun fact: Unlike on the ground where the clones easily best the droids. In dogfights, the seppies are alot stronger compared to clone pilots and they lack the skill, although they are decent pilots, to beat the computing power of tri-fighters and vulture droids. In fact, the clones lost most dogfights that didnt have a jedi with them as the jedi's reflexes are even better than a droids computer, up until the introduction of the y-wings which heavy shields and swivelling turret helped to win alot of dogfights for the republic.
Droids also could go at faster speeds than the clones, because they can handle it better than the clones

@@MichaelJaeYT Yeah, thats why as you can see throughout the battle, the cis are usually the ones chasing and shooting down the republic ships
Even with experienced clone pilots like Commander Oddball and possibly Lieutenant Hawk.

I love that Palpatine, even though he's supposed to be a prisoner, is sitting in a huge throne overlooking the battle. I mean, it just screams that he'll be the emperor. Awesome!
That was a dead giveaway. He was rather comfortable for a hostage.
This. This level of detail and care is why people love this movie so much.
This is why that clusterfuck of an episode 9 will never have the longevity of the prequels. There's no depth in plot or execution. Just a load of copy pasted ships.
The Prequels seriously had some unnecessary hate when they first came out tbh. Now with The Sequel Trilogy I think a lot of Star Wars fans have seemed to grow to love the prequels

@@johnbarrientosiii6586 the only real problems with the prequels is some of the lines are weird or just not well acted. But most the time they are arguably the best stories and best visuals of all the starwars trilogies
When anakin is fighting a magna guard, the pilot droid they go past (when the head is kicked) says “get him!” To the guard. Always amuses me.

@3D World yes I did it’s probably from that when I was younger I always loved that level and Revenge of the sith also is my favorite movie and most watched movie so they are all contributing factors the more I think about it

At least for me it's because when I was younger I had the attention span of a gold fish and would watch this battle then get distracted playing lightsabers or something and then come back at the end of the movie so I've seen the beginning and end of this movie at least 3x as many times as the rest of it
Little fun fact; that Lucrehulk which had its shield flare up may have had Thermal-shields, a reactive form of energy shields that much more visibly and violently deflect incoming fire. First chronologically addressed in the Clone Wars episode “Cat and Mouse” I believe.

The “ tiny Death Star laser” was a self propelled heavy artillery turbolaser inside the veniter at a point where it could fire out the hanger bay
That would be a good countermeasure in case someone tries to suicide themselves.

AKA, the giant lazer artillery that shot down one of the ball shaped starships in attack of the clones
For the B-1 battle droids: Yellow-> Officer, Blue->Technical/Maintenance/Ships, etc., and Red->Security/Marines. The standard don't have any colours.
Blue is pilot, marines were green I think? (Like in BF2 2005)
@@Commander_Appo That was the case in older lore, but in the boarding actions in the Clone Wars show, they just use standard droids. However as good as the Clone Wars show is, it constantly uses the wrong colours, such as the security and pilot droid being standard droids in the Malevolence Arc. That’s one example but there are many more, especially in earlier seasons. Hope that clears up confusion.

people also forget the battle of Coruscant has/had a ground battle by the time Anakin and Kenobi showed up meaning the Sequels would never be able to outdo this battle.
I wish we could see it in canon, and have much of the fighting on the clone's side be the Courscant Guard and 41st Elite Corps/ 9th Assault Corps landing pad troopers.

16:40 The shot of Anakin saving Palpatine while cutting down two droids and Obi-Wan also cutting down droids being added into the beginning intro of The Bad Batch was an awesome move by the animators.
During the final Clone Wars Arc of season 5 Anakin had dealt with the Buzz Droids using the force on top of his ship, however the bottom half of his ship was completely covered with them which led to Ahsoka saving his skin.
Another sad but interesting detail is that the Clone Pilot named Odd Ball was in the clone wars series on numerous occasions usually accompanying Obi-Wan or Plo Koon, and this battle marks his death.
Nope Oddball survives, that was just some unnamed clone.

@@epicsardines6440 he doesn't, people falsely attribute the death of an unnamed clone pilot to Commander Oddball. there have been no mentions in canon or legends that says he dies. and in canon he's confirmed to be involved in the battle of utapau.

My headcanon is that the little blue light as Anakin and Obi-Wan fly down into the battle is them passing through the deflector shield of the Venator they're passing.

14:50 red is security usually shipboard security sometimes possibly base defense. They don't have the backpacks with extra comms and powercells that normal soldiers with no color marks have. (Also in Legends many ship security droids were OOMs, not B1s, they came with built in droidbrains even before Episode 1 and those brains are a bit smarter than the super cheap ones they went for when they needed to upgrade ALL the B1s.)
As a Trekkie, making the Trade FEDERATION cannon fodder security droids red (and the command druids gold) is a pretty cool reference.

When watching Space Battles, I'm usually playing a game of "spot the spaceship".
Especially after the lore-split into "Canon" and "Legends" to see which ships I thought to be Legends are, in fact, still Canon and never had been Legends to begin with (for the OT and PT at least. For the content after the Disney takeover, it's about seeing which ships have become Canon again).
Though needless to say, after all this years, it has become more of a "see if you can spot a ship you somehow haven't been able to spot yet" for any content that isn't recent.
If your spotting Legends ships in the Prequels and Original Trilogy then those were always Canon like Venators and Imperial Star Destroyers. But if you are referring to space battles from newer Star Wars content like the Raider Class Corvette in Battlefront 2 and Squadrons or a Dreadnought heavy cruiser showing up in Rebels then yes those would be Legends ships reappearing in Canon.
I think that’s probably the best thing the newer movies are for like the sequels just because they tried to go crazy with the Easter egg side of things

Sorry, I seem to have written it in a way which made it a bit unclear.
For the OT and PT, I mean ships which are usually "hidden" in the background and you (or just me, I dunno) might not know were never not canon like the Recusant-class light destroyer which could be seen in the background during the Battle of Coruscant.

Red droids is security battledroids. Standard soldiers are the battle droids without any extra paint.
How long do the battle droids that get sucked into space just orbit around Coruscant before they power down (yikes) and/or get picked up by random space freighter crews and go on an adventures because the war ended a few days later (fun)?

I don't believe that the ships were in orbit, the ships keep themselves afloat with their engines and once the engines fail the ship falls to the planets surface
19:36 I am going off a theory about how there was probably no one in the tower when the ripped through it. Episode 3 was filmed at the time and we DIDN'T have the animated Clone Wars show. The only thing we had in between Episode 2 and 3 at the time was the 2003 clone wars series. As depicted, before Anakin and Obi-Wan arrived to save the Chancellor, Coruscant had already sustained damage from other parts of the city when the droid army invaded and engaged the Republic forces in space and in the city. I'm going to guess that all tower personnel or non-combative civilians were given the order to seek shelter or abandon everything and proceed to the nearest shelter/bunker for safety.
The other markings below the Tri-Fighters on Obis ship looks like deployed vulture droids to me...
I think capitals seems more likely. Or possibly entire wings of Vultures.

I thought it too, they look like they are flying upwards, but i'm not too sure, also, given that vulture droids where bastly more common is weird that he took down only 7 vultures and +20 tri fighters

This is why I love CGI from this time period. It’s done with the small details, not the entire movie.
For the question with the tower there was a book i think that explained it was an abandonned spaceport, so the only victims of the crash were some firefighters because apparently some crashed because of the Débris.

Well it seems logical to close spaceports when a whole battle is happening in orbit and crashed ships are falling from the sky constatnly...
I think the novel mentioned air traffic control sending the largest landing platform they had, but i don't think there was any on said platform

My favorite part of the scene is always when they get out of their fighters and are clearing the hangar. Their lightsaber movements are SO SMOOTH it's so freaking sick I always rewind it like 5 times on that part

8:37 It would be disadvantageous for a droid not to feel pain. Pain is a defense mechanism, it warns you when your body is being damaged. A machine would also benefit from some sort of pain mechanism as it would avoid damaging itself further if it is injured.

Fun fact: In Star Wars Legends Lorth "Apology accepted Captain" Needa was leading a pack of Legends-EU starships from the old RPG books that was juuuust offscreen above the Invisible Hand keeping it pinned and telling him they'd shoot him to pieces if he couldn't get Palpatine on holo in ten minutes. And he DID help shoot it apart, so really Vader choking him was revenge for forcing him to land Half a Ship.

It was actually the first Star Wars movie I've seen in theater. When the Invisible Hand crash landed, it felt like it was gonna run over us. And it's not even 3D.

Seeing Anakin and kenobi flying in perfect unison showing their connection to the force as master and apprentice was always my favorite scene from the prequels..its a shame that the next few scenes on the cruiser was so rushed.
When you watch this vid in 1.25 speed so the battle will be in normal speed

The tower was probably completely empty, they had enough time to get the fire department to their location so they would have likely had time to evacuate the tower before touchdown.
Can't remember the exact source, but in Legends I'm 99% sure it was explicitly stated that the tower was cleared well before the Invisible Hand took it down.
I just found this channel and spent a good chunk of my day watching all these slowed vids. I really love this detail nitpicking. It really gives the movies so much more life

Besides General Grievous, this space battle is one of the biggest highlights for me with this movie. and I love the slow downs and zoom ins you have done with it.
The markings on the ship, the ones you thought represented the trifighters, those others to me look like markings to represent vulture droids :D

@@Commander_Appo No, ion cannons in Star Wars are emp weapons only, the shut down electronics without much actual damage (the jawa blunderbust that sorted out R2 in A New Hope is an example of an ion weapon).
Now in real life ion weapons are scary AF. The can penetrate armor better then even HEAT rounds and the energy of the beam is deposited deep inside the target causing it to blow up from the inside. That and they also dose the area with deadly, deadly radiation is an added bonus. They're still a long way off as a practical weapon since they're more complicated to make then normal particle beam weapons (which are almost worthless on the surface since they're attracted to magnetic fields giving them horrible accuracy, the whip around like the Ghostbusters proton beams, and are rapidly absorbed by the air giving them crap range) and do to less work being done on them so far lag behind lasers in efficiency (I think modern prototypes are in the 8% efficient range which means you need 12.5 megawatts of power for ever megajoule of output) making powering them a problem plus the whole radiation thing will probably limit them to space in the end anyways.

@@Commander_Appo I haven't played battlefront so I'm going to take it there was a SPHA on that map. In that case the map might of had the I variant which used a massive Ion cannon. The default version (later known as the T variant) housed a turbo laser (though it acted more like a super laser).

Fun fact: the “Death Star laser” at 3:00 is actually the artillery vehicles from the second movie, strapped into the hangar bays of the capitol ships
I saw this in the theater probably 5 times. It was so good in the theater. It’s still one of my favorite movies. The new trilogy suck. Also, I’d be willing to bet that - that tower was evacuated before they crashed into it.

During the whole Buzz Droid debacle, just before Obi-Wan's cockpit starts fogging, we see two Separatist warships having crashed into one another. Specifically a Recusant and a Munificent.
This has also been explained in some media, as the Recusant being hard to maneuver. Combine this with the slower reaction times of droids, and it ends up crashing into it's own ships as seen here.
Another fun little Easter egg is when the Venator uses that blue superlaser underneath it to blow up a Munificent underneath. We see one of the fireballs from the Munificent explosion hit the Venator. And apparently, that object is in fact a sink or a toilet or something. Which I find quite hilarious. XD
the slower reaction times of droids is however contradicted by alot of other lore which says droids have superior reaction speeds. personally my favourite explanation is there was a lag in the system due to censor overloads.

Saw this in theaters twice with my dad, once at opening. Will never forget standing in line, everyone all dressed up, the cheering when they drop down into the battle. Best memories.

Lol I love how the original clone wars version of this battle was nothing but providence cruisers. No separatist variety at all.
Also that little green and red blaster cross is really interesting. Not to oversimplify but generally speaking republic ships shoot blue seps shoot red. In the lore it's confirmed there are early model star destroyers like the victory class in the battle so maybe there's a victory of screen we don't get to see since imperial ships usually shoot green. Fun fact, don't remember which novel mentions it, but a young Captain Palleon from the Thrawn trilogy actually commanded a victory class in this battle

The Jedi absolutely can Force-push the buzz droids off, even whilst flying. In the Clone Wars animated series, Anakin does do it. It’s in season 5. It’s the episode that the Jedi Temple’s hanger was bombed.

One of the things I remember about the lore of the battle is that Grievous led a gargantuan armada consisting of 1/6th of the total CIS fleet. Hundreds of providences, thousands of recusants, more than 10K munificents, and between 50-80 lucrahulks.
Meanwhile the republic started with only a mere 1K venators with support craft before any real help would arrive, but various sector fleets would bring everything from venators and acclimators, but also Praetor Battlecruisers and Mandator I's and II's in their multitude over the week long siege of the planet. Though we only see one group from the Republic Circle Fleet, (The Outer Rim Fleet) Many Core and Midrim fleets would respond. This would even be where some of the first Imperator Star Destroyers (The Republic fitted version of the iconic Star Destroyer we all know and love. They got a post clone wars refit into turbolaser powerhouses instead of a well balanced diet of turbos, anti starfighter lasers, and even conventional projectile/flak cannons like some venators have in their equatorial trench.
After the CIS deployed a ship as massive as the Subjugator class, the republic was more that willing to reactivate old 4km long praetors and bring KDY protection fleets into the Republic armada as a whole.
The next battle you should do is another space battle, the one with the trade federation ship over Naboo. The one with Darth Maul not the one where Qui-gon and Obi-Wan first land on Naboo

The Animation and all that is just so amazing! This is clearly the best space battle of Star Wars
I want Mando S3 to take the action into the war zone. I mean, it's called Star "Wars", so eventually we might see a modern tech space battle with as much thought put into it as this one had.
Ships have to angle their deflector shields, so that means there are areas where the shields are weak that enemy fire can break through... so in theory a battle between two ships is as intricate as a lightsaber battle, even more so due to the fact you have to do it by pressing buttons and pulling levers based on calculations rather than foresight.
I love that "pirate ship canon fire" shot, because it's probably a rare occurrence that two ships down each other's shields at the same time and have an all out trade off like that.
Not to mention managing power and armamaments and coordinating with other ships.
I hope we get to see more detailed space battles in Star Wars shows.
Not sure if anyone answered your question about the battle droids in the bridge yet, but you got two of the three types correct. The blue Battle Droids were Pilots, the one with the Yellow/Gold markings was a Commander, but the Red battle Droids were actually Security droids, the regular battle battle droids with no special markings are the standard battle droids. Hope this helps you for future videos.

I imagine it was hell for the people on planet. Droids and clones fighting in the streets, fighters clashing in the skies, and crippled Republic and Confederate capital ships falling from the skies leveling entire districts.
It depends on how close the ships are to the planet some debris would definitely fall to the planet’s surface and that would be a bigger problem for the People living in the upper levels of Coruscant

Rots was the first star wars film I ever watched when I was 3 years old in 2005 and my dad for some reason took me with him to the theaters to see the darkest star wars movie in the franchise. I remember constantly being amazed at lighstabers and then horrified at all the violence and then back to being amazed again but I will always remember this space battle as my introduction to Star Wars and I'm so happy it is this whole scene is badass

2:54 During the ground battle of Geonosis there is a part where Yoda orders all the Republic artillery to open fire on the nearest sphere section of the Trade Federation ships that are taking off. The artillery that shoots at them that we get a good shot of shoots an electric looking sustained blue beam. That Venator has those on board to be used in a land invasion. They were put right next to the near useless bottom hanger bay on that particular Venator, at that time of the battle. That's what's shooting the CIS ship. I believe that is Anakin's flag ship.

Well in Legends clones could join it's ranks, but it was mostly humans and maybe a few species like Chiss or Pantorans.
This movie has some of the best battle scenes. The opening battle of episode 3 is probably the most spectacular Star Wars opening since the star destroyer flyover and boarding action in Episode IV.
I think the other kill marks on Obi-wan's ship are Vulcher Droid wings.

You missed a really cool part. I was watching and I noticed just before Obi Wan says the famous line: "flying is for droids" 2 or maybe 3 ships are colliding. If you look to the right of the screen, there is a recusant ship and a munificent ship colliding. It's really cool the collision. (I also thought I saw another ship in there, what looked like a venator, it's really hard to see.)

Fun fact: the Starfighter count that were in this battle was 420,000. And that’s just from the Venator Class Star Destroyers alone, which carried roughly 420 starfighters at a time each.
And if we include the LAAT gunships that they carried, and the Venator itself, then we roughly have 451,000 ships involved in that battle, just counting Venators and their fighter compliments.
The separatists had over 1,000 warships of their own, most, if not all of which held dozens or more droid fighters (the Luckrehulk battleships all held at least 1,500 droid starfighters each (up to 4,000 each, I think), and we actually get to see multiple of them in the battle)

Obi-Wan's starfighter has the logo of the republic on its wing (the eight-spiked one). Anakin's starfighter, however, has the six-spiked variant which is the precursor to the logo of the empire.

I saw this movie in theaters as my first Star Wars movie and I expected it to be the last one. I was so excited and it will always hold a special place for me.
