Yvonne you go GIRL...Countdown 300 subscribers is all it will take to reach your goal! Chris you need a channel of your own "The Fixer" I would watch and subscribe! You can fix anything and everything!! You did a remarkable job on the little cabinet and Yvonne great finish, I love it. The flower picture is beautiful, great color choice on frame. Now that's a boat load of keys! Hey I subscribed to Alex and Becca's channel and look forward to watching them progress. I'm sure you will be a great mentor to them. As always TFS
Thank you… so close. It would be such a nice gift to wake up one day and see that number. I’ve told Chris that myself.. he so good at repairing items. Always up for the challenge. Thank you ❤
The embroidery is known as Crewel Embroidery. The new frame looks perfect with it but if I might make a suggestion, ( since I have done a lot of crewel work over the years.) I would recommend a thin quilt batting underneath the embroidered piece. You can use spray adhesive to attach the batting to oval cardboard backing then put the embroidered fabric over it just as you did. Sometimes I’d even use a thicker batting under my embroidery and skip the glass.
Any of your boxes that have locks with no key take it to your local locksmith. You will be amazed at how quickly they will have a key designed and made for your box. My husband and I used to do that all the time and it never cost more than a few pennies. I think the most we ever paid for one was like $1.75 of course this was a few years ago! Lol But most buyers, will pay a premium for a box with a lock and the key.
After watching your videos for a long time it is evident that you have a standard, actually a high standard. Love your videos. It makes my heart happy that you restored the stitched piece. Someone put a lot of work in that piece so it's good to know it will go to a new home.
I don't know if someone has already said this but the reason Miss Lillian puts her labels upside down is because with the all in one paints the chalk-like ingredient settles to the bottom and you have to stir the crap out of it. I use Heirloom Traditions all-in-one paint and they suggest that you store it upsidedown for that reason.
I absolutely love seeing Chris in this video. He is talented, and I always learn something. The cabinet turned out very nice. I like the new frame on the embroidery much better. And didn't that clean up nicely. You have many keys for a long time. Thanks for sharing!
Crewelwork is needlework stitched with wool yarn. In early days I used to do this kind of work. I love it still tho it doesn't sell in my booth. That yellow frame makes all the difference. I loved the other frame but you're right, it doesn't fit. Those keys were awesome! It's impressive that Chris was able to clean them up! You do good work.
My great grandma did needle point and crocheting. She made herself and others ladies handkerchiefs that she did needle point and crocheting on. I was fortunate to get several of them. They are absolutely gorgeous. I also have a blanket she made for me when I was a very young child (from the early 60's). It was made from old flannel pajamas. I now have it stored away. My grandmother also made blankets. These were done with needle point as 10x10 squares and material sewn between all the squares with a back. Gorgeous! Also have a couple of these stored. I am blessed to have these items.
Wow! Thanks Chris for cleaning all of those keys. That's awesome of you. I love the new frame for the needlework. It's perfect. You did great also on the little sowing chest. TFS
Love how you & Chris work together to give the litte cabinet a second life, I knew it would turn out beautiful! Crimenently! The embroidered picture is absolutely stunning! You have given it the pleasure of bringing it's beauty to countless more people for generations to come! Such a rewarding task to bring these handmade vintage items back to their former glory and to be enjoyed & respected for the amount of love & time someone soo lovingly put into this handmade treasure! I truly adore it!❤ Old Key jackpot! I am one of those people that sows indeed like the challenge and time consuming task of bringing items back to their former beauty and look.... as a child I loved untangling necklaces, bracelets that had been so severely knotted up.... old chains....the thrill of the challenge, maybe...? Thank youins again for sharing your repairing, refurbishing, experience , knowledge and tips with us! We truly do appreciate you both and always...eagerly awaiting youins next video! God Bless ❤❤❤
You don't need to put glass on the crewel embroidery. That way it won't sweat under it. And it can be dusted or vacuumed to keep it clean. Worked in a frame shop, only reason I know that bit.
I’m still on the fence about that sweet cabinet with drawers. I think I would have first tried the Howard’s finishing on the whole piece n then see how it looked. I don’t mind seeing to different types of wood n the two tone of it. If it still didn’t look right then do the painting. Chris did a real nice job in repairing it. As for that beautiful piece of Crewel Embroidery it looks perfect in the round frame. It did clean up nicely. Painting the frame that color brought the whole piece together. Very nice. I can’t believe the keys. Oh my gosh they were covered in rust. Chris did an awesome job in cleaning up a lot of them. The whole beauty about the keys is that each one was different n had such awesome shapes n details. I think that’s why so many people like having them hanging around, I know that’s why I have them. They have so much character. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍👍🌟🐈⬛🐈⬛
The floral picture is either crewel work or embroidery. I can’t tell from afar. I do crewel work from vintage kits. Some old kits can have wool yarn, but anything from the 1970’s has acrylic yarn. It was good to wash it by hand. I love this project. ❤
What a beautiful job on the embroidery piece you did and that frame color. At first I didn't like it but once you put the antique wax and put the embroidery work inside, it was absolutely stunning😊
The knitted flower picture turned out so pretty came out so clean my favorite ! The lil box drawer not sure what it's called it was nice but didn't like the white on it but it's cute ! The keys came out so clean I like buying keys when I see them at thrift stores ! You are so amazing and your husband is too both so good at your craft 😊❤❤
My hubby was like Chris…the difference was that while he would fix the old piece he would replicate it for me to work on. I did a lot of decorative painting, Santa’s, Angels, Victorian Carollers, just to name a few things.
I have seen so many people clean rusty hardware in a crockpot with 50/50 water and vinegar solution. Apparently the heat helps take the rust off better. Also, have you tried the powder Bar Keepers Friend? It cleans rusty furniture hardware amazingly.
I love the way that picture turned out and the frame color was perfect. I thought it would be nice if you printed out where you bought the embroidery and that it was 1970. And stick on back. I like you love the history. I thought about putting something like that in a dresser my grandma bought me about 50 years ago. Love spending each day with you.
You both did a great job saving the spool cabinet; now it can be loved again! My mom did beautiful crewel embroidery, something I never could master. She made me a lovely intricate floral pillow in 1976; I use it in my Fall decor and my dghtr has already claimed it to be passed onto her.😍 Yvonne, your piece looks 1000% better in the plain frame & the perfect paint color choice. Professional needle workers recommend batting instead of glass on all types of framed needlework. WOW Chris, amazing improvement on the antique keys! Enjoyed your makeovers! Blessings from Springfield.🙏💙
All your projects are beautiful! It makes me giggle when you say, "wax on, wax off." I would say something like that too. I love it that you rescued the beautiful hand done crewel needlework from 1978. Melange originated from the same word in French. It means a mixture of things. It's pronounced may-lawnjuh (approximately). Chris, you should get a medal for cleaning up those keys! Hope you make a bundle reselling those beautiful pieces of history, and saving them from the dump!
I really enjoy watching all your transformations! 😊❤ I don’t know how many times I have wished I lived closer to your area! 😊. I love the crewel embroidery with the frame!! Gorgeous.
Yvonne can you just clone Chris so we can all have a flipping partner like him🤣🤣🤣 It's always so much fun to see how you two interact! My favorite today was the framed embroidery.
Yvonne, that frame is much better for the embroidery piece. Whoever spent all that time and effort with that beautiful needlework, I'm sure thanks you!
Marvelous repair job, Chris! And, Yvonne, you do your magic and it’s beautiful!😊Great job on cleaning the needlework and the new frame!🎉 Oh and the keys look marvelous!😊
The crewel piece came out well. I would never put those in the washing machine. Hand washing was a good choice. Sometimes the yarn is wool so I would recommend not very hot water and not too much agitation. Loved the keys. Poor Chris, he will be doing keys til the New Year.
Wow that frame fit the embroidery so well. Beautiful. And omg Chris did amazing cleaning up the keys. I was so happy you left the writing on the drawers. My mom bought an antique table and left coffee stain and other makes because she said it tells a story. ❤
The little cabinet looks much better, the needlepoint picture is beautiful, and the frame color compliments it so well, the keys Chris cleaned up are amazing.
Yvonne the needle work is called “crewel”. A yarn type thread is used instead of the embroidery thread. Different kind of stitching in some ways. I loved that you saved it. The cabinet looks very cool. Lol, I watching one of your videos from 2 yrs( so it said but I’ve been watching you for two yrs or so) when I got the notification, so I popped on over. 😊❤
The crewel embroidery looks fabulous in the mustard yellow frame! The cabinet looks so much better! Chris has his work cut out for him with all those keys. The cleaned sets look really good. Love old keys! Be well Yvonne. Have a blessed week. 🤗
I was not liking the yellow for the frame but afterward I thought it looked good. I dont care for the term "GrandmaCore". though. I wouldnt clean all those keys, I would wait to see if the first ones sell well before I put in all that effort. You both work diligently always.
I can’t believe the difference it made just changing the style of frame! Beautiful ❤ My husband and I are in Tennessee right now and I have to figure out a way to send you a picture of a hand carved swan we saw in a specialty shop. It’s so cool!
You and Chris work so well together ❤ a real team I love the colour of the frame and the embroidery is beautiful I love the little cabinet too it turned out beautiful I love all the makeovers Thank you for your great ideas ❤😊and the keys of my goodness that’s a lot of work Chris

That first project your husband helped with is incredible 😍😍😍🤯
I love the rust on the keys.
The 2 draw cabinet popped with the white paint. The picture frame came out great. Chris’s keys looked amazing

Yes.. thank you ❤

That embroidery one is amazing.

Enjoyed watching how Chris repaired the spool cabinet. Always love watching how you upgrade items.
I love the floral crewel embroidery. I have something similar that my aunt embroidered. It hangs in my sewing room.
