I also agree with Ricky's mom that gradual build-up in how the song is sung is more appropriate. It is not just a mere exercise of opening your mouth to sing; you also have to factor in the appropriate emotions and proper facial expressions. Going through emotions is always a process. You don't have to start belting out loud when the lyrics call for a more subdued opening. Depending on the story that that song wants to tell, i.e., a softer or soulful opening creates intrigue, which makes listeners want to hang around for more. Remember, every song is a journey. So, be sure that your listeners are with you from the first note to the last.
Feel the song. Have connection with your audience. You must be able to convey the message of the song so that the audience can also feel what you are singing.
It is great to reach high notes but i think its not enough. You must sing with feelings. Sing from the heart.
Singing is like telling a story to your listeners.

Find ways to connect with the Korean song deeply so that your audience will get caught up in your performance of it. The best performances are the ones that get us swept away with something that only the singer is able to produce because it’s coming from something so true inside of them. You got this! pure talent kse yan teh walang formal lessons since she was young, ganyan nman sa pinas even ung mga professional singers karamihan jan walang formal training , self practice Lang, karaoke Lang din at nahasa, unlike sa korean na years ginugugol nila sa training pero ung karamihan nman puto autotune😅

It's not always about the vocal power. Do not shout it out. Like I said before, dynamics is important (learn when to belt it out and when to sing softly). Like telling a story. Feel the song and imagine that you are in that song.

Feel the song. SB19, the Filipino pop group is very good with this. Foreigners cry when they listen to their songs like Liham, iLaw, Nyebe even though they are in Tagalog because they feel the emotions in the song as the boys sing it.

Hello po. I had a vocal coach when I was a kid and I was taught to start soft then end strong. It's like in one note you do a crescendo. However, it usually depends on the audience and the judge hehe have fun Ate Ericka (please allow me to call you that hehe).
Watçh leah salonga when singinĝ, you can get some tips. Even if she sings in low key, still beautiful to hear coz her diction is clear. Be careful with isang lahi coz it needs deep breathing in timè with thè high notes.

It is the art of telling a story.. You can learn everything about the technicalities of singing a song but if you don't convey the feelings, then the audience won't feel it, they won't relate.

All the singing contest winners I've seen are those who have a distinct voice and they own the song they were singing. It's like listening to a new singer. I think you should sing that way. Sing the song as if it was written for you in a voice no one else heard. Sing from your heart in your own unique voice

If the song is popular already, you have an impact already. You have to find ways to sing it at your best. I listened to the song's original version/ It started soft and became strong towards the middle until the end. The story is about asking someone to come back or convincing someone to come back. Ricky's mom's advice is correct. Add your style to it, and connect to the song and the people listening to you, especially the judges. They know this song, so you need to communicate with them, add a twist to it, and add more feelings. You will be able to do it. Goodluck!

Isang Lahi is a Contest Piece ...have sang it so many times during competition. If delivered well it's a sure win! Your song delivery is getting better and better. The vocal coach can teach you techniques that can enhance your confidence during performance . Sharing with you a secret here...when you hit the "o" in high note...make it "a" ...instead of Sa Palad MO...pronouce it as "Sa Palad MA" ...try it. Yes, I also had a vocal coach from Ryan Cayabyab Music Studio, and yes I did won that competition (modesty aside). Goodluck Erica!
