Honestly that is one of the, if not the most bullshit mechanic that could have been possibly inplemented into the game like come on what point is there to just kill you off during a mission just because you are just a few more meters further away from the objective than the game thinks you should be. They need to remove this shit asap
In reality, it would be nigh impossible to fully quarantine an entire city with no ways out, without a giant Stephen King Dome. So the devs were being realistic
You do realise the devs didn’t think this through right? This isn’t a w? Because the out of bounds area isn’t even fully detailed, and how you get out makes no sense

@awhellnah__ just to be the "🤓", if crane left the city at any given point (even after killing Rais when the GRE drops in), he could have received enough doses of antizin to survive until they found a cure for the harran virus (as told in the DL2 prologue), and could have become a pilgrim. Also MAJOR SPOILERS Due to some datamining it may be confirmed that crane HAS SURVIVED even after the events of the following, and is "only" infected with some sort of quiescent mutation, that when exposed to UV light completely reverts to its dormant state. The player in DL2 will also be able to meet him in the second DLC when it comes out (somewhere in 2024)
