    Your channel is the reason I'm starting to overcome my fear of mathematics. Your style is unique, you avoid unnecessary terminology and technicalities, you keep it clean and simple and you have an innate aptitude for explaining problems. And bonus, I love your deep and soothing voice your accent is amazing! Is it Australian? Thanks and keep making these amazing videos!

    I have to agree with the comments on here. You have taught me more in minutes than I learnt in years at school. (I'm old these days and trying to relearn this basic stuff) It all seems so easy when you say it:) (Why on earth were my math teachers so bad at this!) Thank you.

    Outstanding Teacher.
    I'm 55yrs old and basically raised in the hospital. No help with schooling from not one adult. Ever.
    This is the 5th newest version of math that I have learned in less than one week.
    Calculus might get my knees to wobble.
    Thank you so much, your a grwat help. HOPEFULLY TO MANY MORE. If only history was this fun to learn.
    55... STILL ALIVE, STILL LEARNING.

    My youngest daughter started Secondary school this year, had her first Maths test and performed disappointingly for both herself and her parents. So I am looking through your posts and putting together some home schooling revision materials for her. Your style is great. We'll get her up to Maths Whizz status for sure!

    Thanks for the question!
    23% of 1249 not working out a percentage as described in the video - it is working out the percentage of an amount....
    I would do this as described in other videos I have so...
    23% of 1249 = 23/100 x 1249/1 = 28727/100 = 297.27

  • @davonuk1
    @davonuk1 8 лет назад +6

    Example 3 another way: If you can convert the fraction to 100ths then the numerator is the percentage. If you have x/20, well 20*5 = 100, so multiply x*5, that is the percentage. 16*5=80 (10*5=50 + 6*5=30). You have 80/100, the numerator is 80, so 80%
    Similarly 9*5 = 45 so 45%
    I notice also when he cancels down the fractions, whilst he simplifies individual fractions, he doesn't take the next step which is to find a common division between the numerator on one side and the denominator on the other. 9/20*100/1. The individual fractions are in their simplest forms but then you look at the 20 (denominator on one side) and 100 (numerator on the other). These can both divide by 20. 100/20=5, 20/20=1. This gives you 9/1*5/1, or 9*5 = 45.
